A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool yielded multiple $4,240.26 payoffs Sunday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla. The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for five racing days following Feb. 26 mandatory payout, creating a carryover pool of $274,672.44 going into Sunday's mandatory payout, which generated an additional $3,501,179 in wagering.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
The Rainbow 6 starts anew on Wednesday with a $50,000 gross jackpot pool guarantee.
Who's Hot: Leading rider Luis Saez reached the 100-win plateau for the Championship Meet at Gulfstream Park Sunday while scoring aboard Catiche ($6.80) in Race 5. He started his day off with a victory aboard Alarm Clock ($4.80) in Race 1 and made it a four-win day aboard Gooch Go Bragh ($4.80) in Race 7 and Eagle Chief ($7) in Race 12.
Tyler Gaffalione rode back-to-back winners in Races 2 and 3, scoring aboard Emma and I ($4.20) and Illogical Love ($3.20), respectively, before collecting a third win aboard Tiz Splendid News ($14.20 in Race 10.
Fresh off saddling Simplification for a victory in Saturday's Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth (G2), trainer Antonio Sano visited the Gulfstream winner's circle Sunday with Emma and I ($4.20) in Race 1 and Everthree ($14.20) in Race 4.
