The Fox Hill Flash Sale – Fasig-Tipton Digital's first “flash sale” – closed at 2 p.m. Friday after just over two days of open bidding. The sole offering, 4-year-old broodmare prospect Sweet Tea (Into Mischief), sold for $320,000 to Vicente Perez. The filly was consigned as Hip 1 by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for Fox Hill Farm.
Sweet Tea, by leading sire Into Mischief, was a $300,000 yearling purchase by Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farm. The filly broke her maiden second time out in an $84,000 maiden special weight at Oaklawn Park.
Dam Ava Pie (Distorted Humor) has also produced graded stakes-placed stakes winners Forever Liesel (Mineshaft) and Sound Machine (Into Mischief). Sweet Tea's second dam is multiple graded stakes winner Lakenheath, who produced Grade 1-placed stakes winner The Truth or Else; Grade 3-placed Decorated Soldier; and stakes-placed Fighter Wing, who in turn produced this year's Grade 3 Barbara Fritchie Stakes winner Glass Ceiling.
“The Fox Hill Flash Sale was a tremendous success, demonstrating the strength and versatility of Fasig-Tipton Digital,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton director of digital sales. “It was a win for all parties, as the purchaser – who actually bred the filly – is thrilled to have Sweet Tea back in his broodmare band. We are very appreciative of longtime Fasig-Tipton supporter Fox Hill Farm entrusting the sale of such a quality filly with our new digital platform.”
Ten unique bidders battled for the popular broodmare prospect, with more than 150 bids placed during the 50-hour bidding window.
The next Fasig-Tipton Digital sale will be held April 21-26. Nominations are open through April 14.
