Disney purchased LucasfilmLtd. in 2012 and unveiled "The Force Awakens" in 2015, which was the first new film in the series since “Revenge of the Sith” debuted in 2005. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” was the second movie in the third trilogy followed by “The Rise of Skywalker,” which debuted Dec. 20, 2019. In between “Solo: A Star Wars Story” debuted May 25, 2018.
