Exaulted Rules Shoemaker Mile For First Top-Level Triumph

C R K Stable's Exaulted earned an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) in November by winning the $500,000 Shoemaker Mile  (G1), the first domestic 'Win And You're In' contest this year, by a half length Monday at Santa Anita.

A four-time winner from as many starts this year, Exaulted landed his Grade 1 victory when completing one mile on turf in 1:34.08 with Juan Hernandez aboard.

The 5-year-old son of Twirling Candy, trained by Peter Eurton, held off late bids from runner-up Irideo and 3-5 favorite and third-place finisher Hong Kong Harry to prevail.

Exaulted's three previous starts came in one-mile races on Santa Anita's turf course, the most recent being his breakthrough graded stakes win in the American Stakes (G3) April 2. Overall, he has a 5-3-4 record from 15 career starts and earnings of $603,660.

Exaulted ($5.80) was bred in Kentucky by Jack Swain from Gilded Time mare Gilded Miracle.
