Keeneland announced today that Marion Ravenwood, dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Nest, who is the highest-rated 3-year-old on the latest NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll, and Callingmissbrown, dam of 2022 Belmont Stakes winner Mo Donegal, have been entered in Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale to sell on opening day, Nov. 7, during the prestigious Book 1.
Marion Ravenwood is in foal to Curlin with a full sibling to Nest, while Callingmissbrown is in foal to Uncle Mo with a full sibling to the Belmont winner. Ashview Farm, agent, consigns both mares.
“Marion Ravenwood and Callingmissbrown are both beautiful, top-quality proven mares, and it is our honor to offer them in November.” Ashview's Gray Lyster said.
“These two mares represent active families competing at the highest level of racing,” Keeneland Vice President of Sales Tony Lacy said. “Nest is responsible for some of the most dominating performances of the season, prevailing in Saturday's Grade 1 Alabama at Saratoga by 4 1/4 lengths. The fact that Mo Donegal and Nest ran 1-2 in the Belmont speaks to their quality. We are proud that both Nest and Mo Donegal are graduates of Keeneland's September Yearling Sale and excited to offer their dams, who are carrying full siblings to these Grade 1 winners, at the November Sale.”
Nest's talent was immediately apparent at two when she won her career debut at Belmont by five lengths and captured the G2 Demoiselle at Aqueduct. She debuted this season with a win in the Suncoast at Tampa Bay Downs before taking Keeneland's G1 Ashland by 8 1/4 lengths. Runner-up in the Kentucky Oaks, she was second to Mo Donegal in the Belmont before winning two of Saratoga's premier stakes for sophomore fillies: the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks by 12 1/4 lengths and Alabama.
Nest is out of Marion Ravenwood, a stakes winner by A.P. Indy, whose dam is Grade 2 winner Andujar, by Quiet American. A half-sister to stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Abstraction, Marion Ravenwood is from the family of 2022 Grade 3 winner Big Invasion, who has won six consecutive races.
Marion Ravenwood also is the dam of 2021 G1 Santa Anita Handicap winner Idol, who set Churchill Downs' 1 3/16-mile track record in 2020, and Lost Ark, a 5 1/2-length maiden winner in his career debut in July at Belmont. Lost Ark is entered in Saturday's Sapling at Monmouth Park.
Callingmissbrown, a winning daughter of Pulpit, is out of Grade 1 winner and Kentucky Oaks runner-up Island Sand, by Tabasco Cat. Callingmissbrown is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed winner Maya Malibu and stakes-placed winner Midnight Poppa.
In addition to his Belmont victory, Mo Donegal won the G2 Wood Memorial over eventual Preakness Stakes winner Early Voting.
Callingmissbrown also is the dam of the impressive 2-year-old filly Prank, who earned a 91 Beyer Speed Figure in her career debut.
