Cross Traffic Filly Tops 2023 Ohio Fall Mixed Sale

The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Fall Mixed Sale took place Oct. 18 at Mahoning Valley Race Course, topped by a $15,000 yearling filly by Cross Traffic.

A total of 42 horses changed hands during the single-day sale, bringing in revenues of $173,250 and an average sale price of $4,125.

A yearling Cross Traffic filly led the proceedings, going to William Blondy for $15,000.

The gray or roan filly is out of the winning Proud Citizen mare Classy Citizen, who is the dam of three winners from four foals to race. Classy Citizen is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Nereid, herself a stakes producer, and Grade 1-placed stakes winner Sea Queen.

The filly was bred in Ohio by Sara Stanoszek, and she was consigned by On Track Training Center.

The auction's second-highest price came from Gatha's Song, a 2-year-old Solomini filly who sold to Maria Molnar for $12,500 out of the supplemental catalog.

Consigned by R.A. Rowe Farms, the unraced bay filly is out of the winning Rock Hard Ten mare Lyrique, whose four winners from six foals to race includes stakes-placed Lyrical Note. Her second dam is the Grade 2-placed stakes winner America America, with an extended family that includes Grade 2 winner So Long George and Grade 1-placed My Gal Betty.

Gatha's Song was bred in Ohio by Robert Allen Rowe.
