Inquiry after four horses die at Newton Abbot
The British Horseracing Authority will carry out an investigation after four horses suffer fatal injuries on Tuesday.
Armed with a wealth of data and a path to more valuable information in the years ahead, presenters at the Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit expressed optimism that North American racing could follow its already significant strides in improving equine safety with even further improvement.
An excellent field was entered for Saturday’s $500,000, Grade 2 Fasig-Tipton Fleur de Lis Stakes at Churchill Downs. It might be a small field, with only six entrants, but those half-dozen fillies and mares comprise a highly accomplished group.
