The catalog for the dispersal of the late R.D. Hubbard's Thoroughbred assets is available now, offering 54 horses on ThoroughbredAuctions.com.
Bidding opens for the auction on Tuesday, July 21, and it closes the following Tuesday, July 28. All horses will be offered without reserve.
The catalog features weanlings, yearlings, 2-year-olds in training, horses of racing age, broodmares, and a stallion.
Among the offerings is Attila's Storm, a perennial leading sire in New Mexico who stands at A&A Ranch. The 18-year-old son of Forest Wildcat is a Grade 3 winner whose progeny earnings total in excess of $13.3 million. Attila's Storm was New Mexico's leading sire by earnings each year from 2016 to 2019.
Attila's Storm also accounts for several of the weanlings, yearlings, and horses in training – all New Mexico-bred – and he is the covering sire on many of the pregnant broodmares set to be on offer. Other sires represented among the younger offerings are Proceed, Marking, and Delhomme. First-year stallion Sporting Chance is also present in the draft of mares in foal.
Hubbard, who died in April at age 84, was the longtime owner of Ruidoso Downs until its sale in 2017, and he was the CEO of Hollywood Park in California during the 1990s. He was a successful owner and breeder in both the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse realms, owning national-level competitors among both breeds.
