After stalking the early pace under Luis Saez, Casa Creed unleashed a furious stretch rally, caught familiar rival Annapolis late, and drove past to notch a second consecutive win in the $500,000 Fourstardave Handicap (G1) on Saturday at Saratoga Race Course.
Sent off at 9-5 odds, the 7-year-old son of Jimmy Creed was winning for the ninth time from 33 career starts. He entered off a triumph over Annapolis in Kelso (G3) July 16 at the Spa and once again vanquished that foe.
Trained by Bill Mott for LRE Racing and JEH Racing Stable, Casa Creed returned $5.70 after covering the one-mile turf test in 1:34.20.
Annapolis, who took charge from pacesetter See My Cottage in the midstretch, hung on for second, and Brazilian-bred Ice Chocolat finished third.
The Fourstardave is a “Win And You're In” qualifier. With Saturday's victory, Casa Creed earned an automatic entry into the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) in November at Santa Anita Park
Bred in Kentucky by Silver Springs Stud, Casa Creed was a $105,000 purchase at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He is out of the unraced Bellamy Road mare Achalaya.
