Buxted Too (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}) earned enough points last month to be the ARC £1-million All-Weather Bonus Horse of the Month for February. His award is £40,000, as the bonus was doubled from February to April.
The competition lasts from Oct. 18 through Apr. 7, with points being awarded for finishing first through fifth. A winner of all of three of his starts for the last month over 1 1/2 miles at Newcastle and Lingfield, the 5-year-old has risen 13 pounds on the handicap scale.
Trainer Ian Williams said, “What a great result. He ran a great race when winning first time out in February and has just built on that. He enjoyed the track at Newcastle and has done very well.”
He added, “It's a great opportunity for horses of his kind, and we were lucky enough to win it in December with Dream Harder (Ire) (Muhaarar {GB}). It has become something which is worth targeting and the bonus is something the owners really appreciate. They put a lot of money into racing and to pick up a bonus like this for them and the stable staff is well appreciated from all at Ian Williams Racing.”
There was a three-way tie for second with three horses winning two races and finishing runner-up in another, so Inaam (Ire) (Camacho {GB}), Sicario (Ger) (Poet's Voice {GB}) and Local Bay (GB) (Cable Bay {Ire}) will share the second and third prize-money bonuses, each receiving £10,000 for their connections.
