Wise Racing LLC's Hard to Justify ran her record to a perfect 3-for-3 with a hard-fought victory under Flavien Prat in Friday's Grade 1, $1-million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The daughter of Justify rallied for a half-length decision over Irish invader Porta Fortuna, with She Feels Pretty a head back in third.
Trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Flavien Prat, the 2-year-old daughter of Triple Crown winner Justify covered a mile on firm turf in 1:34.42 and paid $20.20 to win.
Content finished fourth, followed by Austere, Buchu, Carla's Way, Life's an Audible, Dreamfyre, Lauine, Les Pavots, Flattery, Gala Brand, and Buttercream Babe.
This was Brown's sixth Juvenile Fillies Turf triumph and his 17th win overall at the Breeders' Cup.
Bred in Kentucky by Yequada Centurion S.L., Hard to Justify was produced from the Quality Road mare, Instant Reflex. She was purchased by Wise Racing for $190,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale from Nick Drion Thoroughbreds.
Hard to Justify won her debut in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight race at Saratoga on July 23, then came back Oct. 4 to win the G2 Miss Grillo at Aqueduct.
