Belmont Stakes Winner Mo Donegal Sidelined With Bone Bruising

Donegal Racing and Repole Stable's Mo Donegal, who scored a dominant three-length victory in the Belmont Stakes (G1) June 11, came out of New York's 1 1/2-mile Triple Crown finale with bone bruising and will be out of training for 60 days.

Jerry Crawford, CEO of Donegal Racing, and Mike Repole said Saturday that they will share Mo Donegal's progress as the colt continues to be evaluated.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Mo Donegal is the top-ranked 3-year-old in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association's weekly poll.

A son of Uncle Mo, Mo Donegal has won four of seven starts, including the Wood Memorial (G2) April 9 and the Remsen Stakes (G2) last year at age 2, while earning more than $1.5 million. Donegal Racing bought him from co-breeder Ashview Farm for $250,000 at the 2020 Keeneland September yearling sale.
