Returning from a long layoff, Admission Office trailed the field early, then swung five wide in upper stretch and reeled in rivals to win the $200,000 Arlington Stakes (G3) in a tight finish.
A 7-year-old Point of Entry gelding ridden by John Velazquez for trainer Brian Lynch, Admission Office prevailed by a head from pacesetter Get Smokin, who was a neck in front of third-place finisher Field Pass. Floriform, the favorite, was another length back in fourth in the six-horse field.
Admission Office, last of six through Get Smokin's six furlongs in 1:13.44, pursued that rival, Field Pass, and Floriform through the stretch after a five wide move into the lane and dug in when called upon, surging with a huge effort to be best at the finish.
Admission Office covered the 1 1/16 miles for older runners in 1:43.52 on firm turf, winning his first start of the year for owner-breeder Amerman Racing. He returned $17.20.
Nearly a year ago at Churchill, Admission Office won the Louisville Stakes (G3) for his breakthrough stakes victory. After three unplaced finishes in graded stakes in South Florida, Admission Office went to the sidelines February 27, 2021 and was not seen at the races for 15 months due to series of minor problems.
With Saturday's triumph, Admission Office improved his career line to 5-5-3 from 18 starts and $573,372 in earnings.
The Kentucky-bred gelding was produced from Royal Academy mare Miss Chapin.
