Golden Gate Fields canceled its nine-race card Saturday because of heavy overnight rain and localized flooding in the area of the Berkeley, Calif. track, Daily Racing Form reports.
At 6 a.m. (PT) Saturday, rain totals measured from one to two inches in the area of the track, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's website, and heavy rain was expected throughout the day.
“We've prepared for this. The track has got nowhere to drain,” Golden Gate General Manager David Duggan told the Form, adding that conditions would be assessed later in the day on the status of Sunday's card.
