Whisper Hill Farm's homebred Charge It, unplaced in the Kentucky Derby (G1) this spring, breezed a half-mile in :49.06 Saturday over the Saratoga main track in his first breeze back following a 23-length win in the one-mile Dwyer (G3) on July 2 at Belmont.
Pletcher said he was pleased with the effort as he readies the gray Tapit colt for the $1.25 million Runhappy Travers (G1) on August 27 at the Spa.
“We're very pleased. We're right on target,” Pletcher said. “We set out to have four breezes like we did before the Dwyer and the first one went really well. We'll do a little more in the next couple weeks. So far, so good.”
The Dwyer was Charge It's first race since finishing 17th in the Kentucky Derby on May 7 at Churchill Downs after which he underwent a throat procedure for a displaced soft palate.
Charge It has a 2-2-0 record from five career starts this year, including a runner-up finish in the Florida Derby (G1) April 2 in his stakes debut.
