Capo Kane, a stakes winner who was a regular presence on this year's New York-based path to the Kentucky Derby, has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Bonner Hill Farms in Littlestown, Penn., for the 2022 breeding season.
The 3-year-old son of Street Sense will stand for an advertised fee of $2,500, with special consideration for multiple mares.
Trained by Harold Wyner for owners Bing Cherry Racing and Leonard Liberto, Capo Kane won two of five starts, with earnings of $147,500.
He began his career at Parx Racing, where he broke his maiden as a juvenile by 4 1/2 lengths. He then moved to Aqueduct for his 3-year-old campaign, starting the season with a front-running 6 1/4-length triumph in the listed Jerome Stakes. Capo Kane also finished third in the Grade 3 Withers Stakes.
Bred in California by Rising Star Farm, Capo Kane is the first foal out of the unplaced Hard Spun mare Twirl Me. His third dam is the Grade 1 winner Tuzla.
