After breaking his maiden impressively on the Pegasus World Cup undercard, 3-year-old Godolphin homebred Prevalence was under consideration for the G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes to be held this Saturday at Gulfstream Park. Unfortunately, the son of Medaglia d'Oro spiked a fever last week and missed several days of training, according to Horse Racing Nation.
Trainer Brendan Walsh now has Prevalence returned to galloping, but he will not make the Fountain of Youth and a new potential target has not been selected.
“We'll get him back on the work tab and just take it from there,” Godolphin USA president Jimmy Bell told HRN. “He just came out of his race in super order. And really, you know, until you get these little unforeseen hiccups everything was good. This is, in the grand scheme of things, fairly minor.”
