Veteran California sires Kafwain and Ministers Wild Cat will be pensioned to Premier Equine Rehab near Nashville, Tenn., Daily Racing Form reports.
Both stallions finished their stud careers at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in Santa Ynez, Calif., which is in the process of downsizing its operation in advance of a move to Kentucky.
Premier Equine Rehab is a 501(c)3 operation that specializes in the rehabilitation and rehoming of off-track Thoroughbreds, run by Jenny Earhart, who also has a California facility. The Tennessee facility's residents includes multiple stakes winner Stallwalkin' Dude.
Kafwain, a 23-year-old son of Cherokee Run, began his stud career in 2004 and amassed progeny earnings of more than $21 million, led by Grade 1 winners Daisy Devine and Let Faith Arise, along with Grade 3 winners including Don't Forget Gil and The Pamplemousse. He stood the 2023 breeding season for an advertised fee of $2,500.
Ministers Wild Cat, a 23-year-old son of Deputy Minister, was retired from stud duty in 2022. He is a son of champion and Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Hollywood Wildcat, and has had a regular presence among California's top 10 sires by progeny earnings for much of his career.
