Bipartisanship, Kate’s Kingdom Among 11 For Ellis Park Turf On Closing Day

Multiple stakes winner Bipartisanship is set to ship to Ellis Park for trainer Graham Motion and face 10 rivals entered for next Sunday's 19th running of the $125,000 Ellis Park Turf Stakes.

The 1 1/16-mile race is the featured contest on closing day at the Henderson, Ky. racetrack. First post is 11:45 a.m. (CT), and the Ellis Park Turf Stakes will go as Race 8 at 4:22 p.m.

A well-matched field of fillies and mares includes As One Racing, CMNWLTH, and Edgar Harty's British-bred Bipartisanship, who's won three stakes events in her 18-race career. Based at Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland, Bipartisanship recently finished fourth in the Matchmaker Stakes (G3) at Monmouth. Bipartisanship's lone victory of 2023 was in the PTHA President's Cup Stakes at Parx Racing. Her resume also includes stakes victories in last year's Kathryn Crosby Stakes at Del Mar and the 2021 Tropical Park Oaks at Gulfstream Park. Jockey Chris Landeros will be in the irons from post No. 2.

Another accomplished mare that entered the Ellis Park Turf Stakes is Stephen Screnci's Grade 3 winner Kate's Kingdom. Trained by Will Walden, Kate's Kingdom ended her 4-year-old campaign on a two-race win streak with victories over the Tapeta surface in the Ontario Matron Stakes (G3) at Woodbine and in the My Charmer Stakes at Turfway Park. Kate's Kingdom will be reunited with Jack Gilligan from post 9.

Gentry Farm's Lovely Princess will attempt score her first stakes victory in the Ellis Park Turf Stakes. Trained by Kenny McPeek, Lovely Princess nearly found the winner's circle in her last two starts but just missed in the Indiana General Assembly Distaff and the Keertana Stakes. Jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. will pilot Lovely Princess from post 5.
