Friday's card at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $109,629 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Thursday's 10-race Opening Day program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $1,218 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
The sequence kicked off in Race 5, a nine-furlong claimer for older horses on the main track, when Flavien Prat piloted Dust Devil [No. 2, $5.70] to a sixth career score for trainer Patrick Reynolds.
In Race 6, Christophe Clement saddled Merrylegs Farm's New York homebred Yarrow [No. 7, $8.60] to victory in a 5 1/2-furlong state-bred allowance for 3-year-olds and up on the Mellon turf. Manny Franco piloted the Lookin At Lucky gelding.
Under guidance from Hall of Famer John Velazquez, Windylea Farm's Into Happiness [No. 1, $16] won first off the claim for trainer Mark Hennig in Race 7 – a seven-furlong starter allowance for 3-year-olds and up on the main track.
My Sea Cottage [No. 4, $5.60*], trained by Hall of Famer Mark Casse and ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., earned his third triumph in Race 8 – a one-mile starter allowance for 3-year-olds and up on the inner turf.
Lee Pokoik's Becky's Joker [No. 2, $44.40] won at first asking in the Grade 3 Schuylerville [Race 9], springing a 21-1 upset for trainer Gary Contessa with Hall of Famer Javier Castellano aboard.
With six horses covered in the final leg in Race 10, the Phil Antonacci-trained Thundara [No. 14, $18] triggered the carryover and provided Ortiz, Jr. his second win of the day.
Friday's Pick 6 will kick off in Race 5 at 3:26 p.m. Eastern and includes the $150,000 Coronation Cup in Race 9. First post for the 10-race card is 1:10 p.m.
