A filly by Tapwrit blazed the fastest eighth of a mile breeze Monday at the 2023 Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale breeze show.
Cataloged as Hip 167, the filly stopped the clock in :9.4 for the eighth of a mile breeze at Lone Star Park. Consigned by Pike Racing as agent, the H. Allen Poindexter-bred filly is out of the winning Henny Hughes mare, Sky O'Blue, and is a half sister to two winners from as many to race.
Seven horses clocked :10.1 over the Lone Star dirt Monday, all equaling the second fastest of the day:
– Hip 11: Filly by Dialed In out of African Charm (Johannesburg); consigned by Pike Racing, Agent
– Hip 53: Colt by Bernardini out of the multiple stakes-winning mare Coronado Rose (Coronado's Quest); consigned by Bryan Ford Training Stable, Agent
– Hip 54: Filly by El Deal out of the stakes-winning mare Coteau Kitten (Tale of the Cat); consigned by Pike Racing, Agent
– Hip 65: Colt by Frosted out of D J's Favorite (Union Rags); consigned by Clary Bloodstock, Agent
– Hip 94: Colt by Practical Joke out of In Gold Blood (My Golden Song); consigned by Pike Racing, Agent
– Hip 118: Filly by Army Mule out of Lulu Bains (Constitution); consigned by Twin Oaks Training Center, Agent

“It's not every year in Texas we get a :9.4 breeze and she did it the right way,” TTA Sales Director Foster Bridewell said. “We had seven get the eighth of a mile in :10.1 which is also very impressive over the dirt here in Texas. We're grateful to our consignors and the owners of these athletes for bringing them to Texas to sell and we're looking forward to Wednesday's sale.”
