First Foal Out Of Dual Champion Monomoy Girl Is Into Mischief Colt

Dual champion Monomoy Girl's first foal, a colt by leading sire Into Mischief, was born Friday morning at Spendthrift Farm in Lexington.

“Yesterday morning on the farm at Spendthrift, Monomoy Girl delivered her first foal, a colt by Into Mischief,” General Manager Ned Toffey told FanDuel TV's Gabby Gaudet in a Saturday afternoon interview. “That was sort of a big event and we're very excited about that. She's been a great mom so far with great motherly instincts and doing everything right. She'll be bred back to Into Mischief later this year.”

Monomoy Girl, an 8-year-old daughter of Tapizar out of Drumette, by Henny Hughes, was 2018 champion 3-year-old filly and 2020 champion older dirt female. She retired in 2021 with a career line of 14-3-0 from 17 starts, including triumphs in the 2018 Kentucky Oaks (G1) and two editions of the Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) in 2018 and 2020, and lifetime earnings of $4,776,818. She was trained by Brad Cox.

Into Mischief will stand the 2023 season at Spendthrift Farm for an advertised fee of $250,000.
