In her fourth work since returning to full training, Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies runner up Leave No Trace was seen over a new surface at Gulfstream Park. According to the Daily Racing Form, the 3-year-old daughter of Outwork covered five furlongs over the Tapeta in 59.25 seconds, second-fastest of nine at the distance on Monday.
“After two days and nights of downpours I was being extremely careful about the condition of the main track,” trainer Phil Serpe told DRF. “They had it back-raked earlier, and I was a little concerned about that. She's all turf on the bottom of her pedigree, and I thought she would easily like that surface, although I did not expect her to work as fast as she did as easily as she did it. We've had a lot of positive things working over the Tapeta since we've been down here, and I was very happy with what I saw from her this morning.”
Leave No Trace is being pointed to the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream on March 4, a prep race on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks offering points to the top five finishers (50-20-15-10-5). The filly already owns 15 points, courtesy of a win in the G1 Spinaway Stakes and a third-place finish in the G1 Frizette, as well as her second in the Breeders' Cup.
Bred in Kentucky by Red Cloak Farm, Leave No Trace is out of the winning Good Journey mare Tanquerray. She brought $8,000 as a short yearling at Fasig-Tipton's February sale, then commanded a final bid of $40,000 10 months later at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic yearling sale. The filly has now earned $598,650 with two wins, a second, and a third from four starts.
