Dabirsim’s Horizon Dore Impresses In Paris

June's Listed Prix Ridgway victor Horizon Dore (Fr) (Dabirsim {Fr}–Sweet Alabama {Fr}, by Enrique {GB}) followed up that second black-type victory with a personal best in July's G2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud and added lustre to his palmares with an impressive triumph in Sunday's G3 Prix du Prince d'Orange at ParisLongchamp.

Employing patient tactics several lengths off the tempo for the most part, the 3-5 favourite made effortless headway on the bridle in the straight to challenge with 300 metres remaining and powered clear once quickening to the fore at the furlong marker to defeat the Andre Fabre-trained duo Mr Moliere (GB) (Kingman {GB}) and Birr Castle (Fr) (Cloth Of Stars {Ire}), by 2 1/2 lengths and a short-head.

“Horizon Dore is a really nice horse, he was conceding weight all round, but we expected that,” revealed Pauline Chehboub. “He had worked well at home beforehand after being freshened up this summer. Being a gelding, we have ambitions abroad with him and he seems ready to travel now. His next race will be in the [Oct. 21 G1] Champion S. at Ascot. It's a race dear to our hearts after Sealiway's win and maybe history can repeat.”

Pedigree Notes
Horizon Dore, the latest of eight foals and runners, is one of seven scorers out of a multiple-winning half to the stakes-placed duo Zayade (Fr) (Country Reel) and Winter Springs (Fr) (Stromy River {Fr}). The March-foaled bay's third dam Haumette (Fr) (Mille Balles {Fr}), who hails from a family featuring European champion and Irish Derby-winning sire Prince Regent (Fr) (Right Royal {Fr}), is kin to G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris and dual G3 Prix d'Hedouville-winning sire Robore (Fr) (Zino {GB}). Horizon Dore is a half-brother to G3 Prix du Calvados victrix and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf third Cavale Doree (Fr) (Sunday Break {Jpn}).

Myboycharlie’s Lastotchka Slays Gladiateur Rivals

In the money in three stakes outings since closing last term with a career high in Saint-Cloud's G3 Prix Belle de Nuit, Jean-Marie Beguigne trainee Lastotchka (Fr) (Myboycharlie {Ire}–Muthla {Fr}, by Muhtathir {GB}) regained the winning thread and doubled her pattern-race haul by dominating the closing stages of Sunday's G3 Prix Gladiateur at ParisLongchamp.

The 16-5 chance was quickly into stride to race second passing the judge first time and found a comfortable rhythm in third along the backstraight. Taking closer order on the home turn before claiming the lead in early straight, she was safely clear approaching the final furlong and stayed on strongly under continued rousting to easily hold closest pursuer Fasol (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) by two lengths. Vert Liberte (Ire) (Muhaarar {GB}) was 1 3/4 lengths away in third, denying Moon Wolf (Fr) (Intello {Ger}) by a nose in a bobbing finish for third. According to jockey Theo Bachelot, Lastotchka lost her off fore shoe soon after the start.

“She is such a sweet and consistent filly, she stays well and proved it on many occasions last season, such as when winning a Group 3 over 14 furlongs at Saint-Cloud,” said Beguigne. “She has been a bit slow to come around and be at her best this season, but her last run in Deauville did her a lot of good. I will let her recover from her efforts today and have her ready again for the [Oct. 29] G1 Prix Royal-Oak [over this course and distance].”

Pedigree Notes
Lastotchka, a half-sister to the unraced 2-year-old colt Majestic Glory (Fr) (Olympic Glory {Ire}), is the first foal out of Muthla (Fr) (Muhtathir {GB}), whose second dam Colza (Alleged) produced G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud hero Linda's Lad (GB) (Sadler's Wells) and G3 Badener Meile placegetter Ulterior Motives (GB) (Selkirk). Descendants of the April-foaled bay's stakes-winning fourth dam Dockage (Riverman) include G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe-winning sire Rail Link (GB) (Dansili {GB}), Rail Link's G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris-winning half-brother Crossharbour (GB) (Zamindar) and G1 Derby, G1 St Leger and G1 Gold Cup runner-up Mojo Star (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}).

Areion’s Calif Too Good In The Oettingen-Rennen

Stall Hanse's Calif (Ger) (Areion {Ger}–Cherry Danon {Ire}, by Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}), who ran sixth in two Group 3 starts after annexing May's G3 45th Kronimus Badener Meile at Baden-Baden, returned over the same one-mile strip of that stakes breakthrough to double his pattern-race tally in Sunday's G2 90th Brunner Oettingen-Rennen at the Iffezheim venue.

The 17-2 chance occupied a slot in rear after a slightly tardy getaway and remained there through halfway. Shaken up when sent wide into the straight, he made relentless headway from the two pole to launch his challenge entering the final furlong and surged clear in style thereafter to ward off British raider Brave Emperor (Ire) (Sioux Nation) by 2 1/2 lengths.

“We had a great trip throughout the race and were able to bide our time for as long as necessary,” winning rider Rene Piechulek told GaloppOnline. “Even though it may have not appeared that way, it was never close for us and he just makes a huge effort on that ground.”

Pedigree Notes
Calif is a son of G3 Hamburger Stutenmeile victrix and G2 German 1000 Guineas runner-up Cherry Danon (Ire) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) and thus kin to the stakes-winning trio Celebrity (Ger) (Shamardal), Chilly Filly (Ger) (Makfi {GB}) and Cherry Lady (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}). One of his sire's 31 pattern-race winners, he is also a half-brother to the unraced 2-year-old filly Cherry Lou (Ger) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) and a weanling filly by Mehmas (Ire). The April-foaled dark bay's second dam Sherifa (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}) is a full-sister to the stakes-winning dam of three black-type winners headed by MGSW sire Sommerabend (GB) (Shamardal). From the dam line of legendary champion Schwarzgold (Ger) (Alchimist {Ger}), this is a family which includes GI Hollywood Turf Cup hero Sanagas (Ger) (Lomitas {GB}) and G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin winner Sirius (Ger) (Dashing Blade {GB}).

Lope De Vega’s Beauvatier Remains Unbeaten After Prix La Rochette Triumph

Yann Barberot trainee Beauvatier (Fr) (Lope De Vega {Ire}–Enchanting Skies {Ire}, by Sea The Stars {Ire}), who went three-for-three in July's Listed Prix Roland de Chambure at Deauville when last seen, continued his impressive rise through the grades with a comfortable victory in Sunday's G3 Prix La Rochette at ParisLongchamp.

The 3-10 favourite, who attained 'TDN Rising Star' status at Chantilly in May, was under a firm hold off the pace in fourth through the initial fractions of this pattern-race bow. Making smooth headway into contention in the straight, he quickened smartly to seize control approaching the final furlong and was pushed out in the closing stages to easily withstand the late bid of Evade (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) by a length. Fellow Rising Star Havana Cigar (GB) (Havana Grey {GB}) was a neck adrift in third.

“I am so delighted and how lucky we are to have such a young prospect who keeps winning all the time,” said winning owner Gitte Allaire. “I hope this is just the beginning of a long story. Maxime [Guyon] said he was very satisfied with the performance and the horse did exactly what he wanted him to do. Maxime could have asked him anything, he did the job and could have done so much more. We'll leave talk of the [Oct. 1 G1 Prix Jean-Luc] Lagardere to our trainer Yann Barberot. I want to congratulate Yann and the whole team.”

Pedigree Notes
Beauvatier, a €160,000 Arqana August purchase and half to a yearling filly by Siyouni {Fr}), is the first of two foals produced by Listed Prix de Thiberville runner-up Enchanting Skies (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), herself a sale-topping €500,000 Baden-Baden September yearling in 2016. The February-foaled dark bay's dam is one of four stakes performers out of Listed Kolner Fruhjahrs-Stuten-Preis third Estefania (Ger) (Acatenango {Ger}), headed by G1 Preis von Europa victor Empoli (Ger) (Halling). Estefania, in turn, is out of a half-sister to multiple Group 1-winning G2 German 1000 Guineas and G2 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) heroine Elle Danzig (Ger) (Roi Danzig). Beauvatier becomes Lope De Vega's 66th pattern-race winner.
