  8. The mission at Fighting H.A.R.D. Foundation is to help children with rare diseases and chronic illnesses to not feel alone. We started the foundation in 2015 when we were just 11 and 10 years old so that we could help other children like us who were sick. We have grown so much over the years, and we are now able to do so much more thanks to incredible sponsors and generous donors, along with incredible community opportunities such as this!  We are able to accomplish our mission by sending care packages to children with special needs, purchasing medical supplies not covered by insurance, assisting with travel costs as many of these families must travel for care of a specialist for rare conditions, and by providing resources and support for these kiddos and their families. In fact, one of our special programs includes horseback riding lessons as many of the children adore spending time with the horses. We host many gatherings for the families to help them to feel less alone in their battles, but this is surely a favorite! We also help to raise awareness for rare diseases (they are not so rare!) and offer financial assistance, dinners, fun nights out, and so much more to these wonderful and very special kids! www.fightinghardfoundation.org
  9. Trot-Trot is a program to help educate the public on the retraining and history of the off-track standardbred, promote them in second careers, and an adoption program that works with the racing industry to find safe homes for retired standardbred racehorses by providing retraining under saddle, rehab, and matching horses with approved adopters. https://www.trottrot.org/
  10. The mission of theBoys & Girls Club of Clifton is to empower and inspire young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring members of society. Through diverse programming and positive adult mentorship, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development. Our goal is to ensure that every child who walks through our doors has the opportunity to thrive and succeed in life. www.bgcclifton.org

For the Charity Handicapping Contest, organizations will select one (1) horse in each of the 10 designated Meadowlands live races.  The organizations will amass a mythical bankroll if their selection officially finishes first, second or third in the designated race. Official $2 WPS (Win, Place, Show) payoffs will be added to the mythical bankroll. Official race results will serve as the order of finish. The organization that accumulates the highest mythical bankroll is the winner.

The participating organizations are encouraged to make it a night at the races for their volunteers and employees.  Each organization will also have the opportunity to make winner's circle presentations and be featured on the track's jumbotron.

“This is one of our feel good promotions,” said Jason Settlemoir, COO and GM of Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment. “It not only brings new people out to experience and bet at the racetrack, it also helps to support and advance our community.”

Supplemental Entries Added to Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May Sale

An additional 28 supplemental entries have been added to the upcoming Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training.

These entries, which are catalogued as hips 576-603, include 2-year-olds by Blame, Candy Ride (Arg), Good Magic, Hard Spun, Into Mischief, Munnings, Nyquist, Quality Road, Tapit, Twirling Candy, and Uncle Mo.

“Many of the sport's current leading sires are represented in the supplement, as well as a number of exciting first and second crop 2-year-old sires,” said Paget Bennett, Midlantic Director of Sales. “It's a high quality group that adds additional excitement to an already sterling catalogue.”

The auction's 2022 graduates include GI Kentucky Derby winner Mage (Good Magic).

“Everyone at Fasig-Tipton is very proud to call Mage a Midlantic May graduate,” said Bennett. “It was just a year ago that he breezed over the dirt surface at Timonium in our under tack show, and now he is a Kentucky Derby winner who could make his next start right back here in Baltimore–at the Preakness.”

The under-tack show for the May sale will be held May 16 through 18 and the two-day auction will be held May 22 and 23 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.

The catalogue, including the latest supplemental entries, can be viewed here.

Sumbe to Sponsor Prix Morny

Sumbe will be the new sponsor of the Prix Morny meeting at Deauville as part of a five-year deal, it was announced on Tuesday.

The G1 Sumbe Prix Morny is the highlight of the day's racing on Sunday, August 20, with the supporting races on the card all carrying sponsorship by Nurlan Bizakov's operation.

“It is a real pleasure to announce that Sumbe is to sponsor the Prix Morny for the next five years, marking our first partnership with France Galop,” said Bizakov, whose horses in training are led by his homebred Group 1 winner Belbek (Fr) (Showcasing {GB}).

“It is my first venture into sponsorship, and I am delighted to start with a stallion-making race as important as the Prix Morny. It takes place during the Deauville Barriere meeting, which attracts plenty of international attention. That fits in perfectly with our projects at Sumbe and will give us an opportunity to bring together our clients, partners, and friends from all over the world.”

The Sumbe group is comprised of Haras de Monfort & Préaux and Haras du Mézeray, based over 350 hectares between the French regions of Orne and Calvados, and Hesmonds Stud in England. The farms are home to 50 Sumbe broodmares and boarders. In France, Sumbe stands the stallions Mishriff (Ire), Golden Horde (Ire), De Treville (GB) and Recorder (GB).

Two Phil’s Will Skip Baltimore Trip; Tesio Winner Perform Supplemented To Preakness For $150,000

After finishing a bang-up second in the 149th Kentucky Derby, Two Phil's will not make his way to Maryland for the second jewel of the Triple Crown, trainer Larry Rivelli told the Daily Racing Form on Tuesday.

“He came back great, but it's 11 days from today,” Rivelli told DRF. “He just got home (to Hawthorne), he settled in, looks great, but it's way too soon. There's no pressure to do it. I might not have run even if he won, which would have been a bigger deal.”

The 3-year-old son of Hard Spun ran close to the hot early pace under jockey Jareth Loveberry, and took the lead at the head of the stretch but was run down by Mage in the final eighth of a mile.

Next-race options for Two Phil's include the Belmont Stakes on June 10, the Grade 3 Matt Winn at Churchill on June 11, or other options later down the road, like the Jim Dandy and/or Travers at Saratoga.

Meanwhile, DRF also reported that Federico Tesio Stakes winner Perform will be supplemented to the Triple Crown for $150,000 for a start in the Preakness Stakes. Trained by Shug McGaughey, the Good Magic colt came from well off the pace and endured a tough trip to win Laurel's Tesio by a head on April 15.

“I thought he moved up a lot going two turns on dirt, he finished strong [in the Tesio],” McGaughey said. “Distance will help him. It's something we decided we wanted to do.”
