Kentucky Derby Trainers’ Dinner Set For May 2

The Kentucky Thoroughbred Association's annual Kentucky Derby Trainers' Dinner is set to take place Tuesday, May 2, at The Speed Art Museum in Louisville. Cocktails will be served from 6 p.m., with dinner service beginning at 6:45.

In addition to the food and drink, there will be a review of all the important prep races leading up to the Derby and interviews with some of the trainers of this year's Derby contenders. The event will be streamed live at TwinSpires.com and all net proceeds from the event will go to support backside charities at Churchill Downs, including The Backside Learning Center.

OBS Spring Sale’s Under Tack Show Begins Sunday

The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2023 Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training begins Sunday, April 16, and continues through Saturday, April 22. All seven sessions begin at 8 a.m.

Hip No.'s 1-175 will breeze on Sunday. Hip No.'s 176-350 go to the track Monday; Hip No's 351-525 breeze Tuesday; Hip No's 526-700 work Wednesday, Hip No.'s 701-875 breeze Thursday, Hip No's 876-1050 work on Friday and Hip No's 1051-1222 will go to the track Saturday.

The Sale is set for Tuesday, April 25 through Friday, April 28 with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m. Hip No's 1-306 go on the block Tuesday, Hip No's 307-612 will be offered Wednesday, Hip No.'s 613-918 sell Thursday and Hip No's. 919-1222 will sell on Friday.

The Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com and on YouTube and the TDN, DRF, Blood-Horse and Past The Wire websites. The workouts will be recorded and can be viewed on the website, in their entirety or by individual hip number. They will also be available in the Video Room as well as several kiosks in the breezeway and covered walking ring. Visitors to Ocala will find the videos available for in-room viewing at The Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton. Under Tack Show results are posted on the OBS website.

Long a source of top-class racehorses, the OBS Spring Sale has grown in stature to become the world's preeminent juvenile auction. Through the years the sale has produced a sizable roster of champions, millionaires and Breeders' Cup winners, horses competing and succeeding at the sport's highest levels.

Last year's sale upholds that legacy. To date, 2022 OBS Spring graduates, on the board in 40 graded stakes, have posted 16 graded stakes victories.

NH Sire No Risk At All Taken Out of Service For 2023

Leading National Hunt sire No Risk At All (Fr) (My Risk {Fr}) will miss the remainder of the 2023 covering season after suffering an accident in a paddock at Haras de Montaigu in France.

According to the farm, the 16-year-old stallion, whose produce include G1 Aintree Hurdle and two-time G1 Christmas Hurdle winner Epatante, will be on box rest for a month and the farm hopes to have him in full readiness to resume his career in 2024.
