When Playing Poker, Set Limits

You must decide just what your poker playing limit is.

The term of playing limit has nothing to do with the term of bankroll. Your playing limit is simply the amount of money you would feel comfortable playing. No one can be indifferent when playing his own money and therefore they cannot remain calm when it comes to losing them. Therefore, don’t use all your saving or paycheck to play online poker. This is not good for two reasons:

1. If you lose, you will have a bad memory of the game that left you with no money at all, when it is in fact your fault for not being responsible and for not thinking through your actions.

2. You will lose! Think about this one for a while. You will most certainly lose because your game will be affected by the constant frustration that arises from your worries for your money.

So, avoid these situations by playing an amount you wouldn’t care about. Just think of it as if it was an expense to buy a game, and now you are playing that game you paid for. This way the worries can be ignored and your playing style can really become what it needs to.

If you have a normal profession or one more basis of profits, then the above strategy should suit your case. But when you plan to play poker for an income, then stuff gets difficult. A professional poker player has no source but his bankroll. The bankroll has at all times to remain intact so it can generate income.

When you play poker your income will fluctuate. If you are a wealthy person and don’t care about money because you already have too many, then fluctuation don’t mean a thing. But if poker is your only source of income, then keep the bankroll intact only as long as you don’t need it. When you have to pay the bills, you will remove that amount from your bankroll. It is a bad thing and it means you didn’t know your limits. Your initial bankroll will become smaller and smaller not because of poker, but because you wanted to rely on an amount of money you did not actually had to spend.

A professional poker player has learned his limits by now. He knows exactly how much he is playing, and he knows how much he should leave at the online casino and how much to put in a bank or invest in the stock market after a win. There is no need to increase a good playing limit that has been tested. Every time we go above it, we can redraw the exceeding money and leave this way the bankroll intact while making an income.

The Saudi Cup To Be World Pool Event

Sports Information Services (SIS) has entered into an agreement with the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) for six races on the US$31.5- million Saudi Cup race meeting hosted at King Abdulaziz Racecourse on Feb. 25 to become a HKJC World Pool event.

Established in 2019, The Saudi Cup race day has solidified itself on the global racing calendar with horses from 15 countries planning to participate this year. The feature race, the US$20-million G1 Saudi Cup, will showcase last year's top-two finishers in Emblem Road (Quality Road) and Country Grammar (Tonalist).

The HKJC will host the wagering pools on races three through eight on Saudi Cup Day, giving bettors access to the biggest international commingled pools in the world. SIS will coordinate the commercial arrangements with global pool operators. Historically, North America has been the largest participant in the Saudi Cup Day pools and this deal not only benefits that market with increased liquidity from Hong Kong, but attracts additional operators from France, the United Kingdom and Ireland, who join existing operators from Germany, Netherlands, Brazil, Peru and Panama.

“The Saudi Cup is a race that has already firmly established itself in the racing calendar and we are thrilled to have this meeting as part of the World Pool. We aim to include the best international racing events within the World Pool schedule, so it makes sense for the Saudi Cup to join the roster in 2023,” Sam Nati, HKJC's Head of Commingling, said.

The first race will be at 7:45 a.m. EST.

Royal Ascot Could Be In Cards For Black Caviar Lightning Winner Coolangatta

Australian sprinting stars were joined by topline performers of the past on Saturday, honoring one of the greatest racehorses Australia has seen.

Royal Ascot winner Nature Strip was the drawcard as 'Living Legends' and former Hong Kong greats Silent Witness and Good Ba Ba looked on with Group 1 action returning to Flemington for the $1 million Black Caviar Lightning Stakes down the straight 1000m (five furlongs).

Alas, it wasn't to be for 2021 winner of the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes, Nature Strip, who finished sixth while the Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace-trained Coolangatta notched her second win at the highest level.

Finishing fifth at her last start in the Group 1 Champions Sprint (1200m, six furlongs) on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival last November, Coolangatta stepped up and delivered.

“It's massive, It is a great race to win. I've had some amazing support since I won the Lightning two years ago,” winning rider Jamie Kah said.

While winning the Lightning is one lofty achievement, a Royal Ascot crown could be in the offing.

“From here the dream would be Royal Ascot for everyone involved, she's shown she likes the straight and I think everyone in the group would be keen to go there,” Dave Eustace said.

Meanwhile, the Australian Guineas is the next stop for Elliptical after the 'more mature' e-year-old sustained an eye-catching sprint to claim the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes. Elliptical will attempt to become the ninth horse to win his race and go on to claim the Guineas to be run at Flemington on March 4.

First-up since finishing seventh – less than four lengths from Zaaki – in the Group 1 TAB Champions Stakes, trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman thought that 'toughening up' is what Elliptical needed to do.

Anthony Freedman said the Champions Stakes contest was likely to have done just that.

“We really just wanted him to be strong late and if we won that was great so to get up and do it points to good things,” Freedman added.

Freedman described the Guineas as “the obvious way to go.”

$32,000 Claim Chess Master’s Repeat Win In Tampa Turf Dash Tops Two-Win Weekend For Owner-Trainer Kerri Raven

Faith, it is often said, can move mountains. And while 7-year-old gelding Chess Master didn't displace any geographical features in his second consecutive Turf Dash victory on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs, he amply rewarded the confidence placed in him by his owner-trainer, Kerri Raven.

“That was the most beautiful race he has ever run in terms of literally handing it to (the competition),” Raven said after the Florida-bred son of Overdriven out of Chesty, by Chester House, turned in a gate-to-wire masterpiece under jockey Antonio Gallardo, winning by 4 ¾ lengths from Full Disclosure. The 2-1 co-favorite, Fluid Situation, was a neck back in third in the 11-horse field, with Sigiloso fourth.

“Oh my God, he just crushed them. He just loves running. I'm going to watch this replay a lot,” Raven said. “That was so gorgeous. He just needed a clean trip.”

Chess Master's time of 54.78 seconds for the 5-furlong distance on the Oldsmar turf course was .78 seconds faster than his 2022 Turf Dash time and .81 seconds off the stakes and course record set by Faction Cat in 2020. The victory boosted his record to 13-for-40, with first-place winnings of $60,000 raising his career bankroll to $354,425.

Chess Master paid $15.80 to win.

Although Chess Master had failed to win in his five previous starts, Raven transmitted her confidence in him to Gallardo, who followed her instructions and never doubted the accuracy of her belief once the gate opened, a bit later than expected after the late scratch of Classicstateofmind.

“She told me to break good and that's what I did,” Gallardo said of Chess Master, who was claimed by Raven here in January of 2021 for $32,000. “I could tell how good he was feeling in the post parade and he was good in the gate. In the beginning I thought we were maybe going a bit too fast (the opening quarter-mile in 21.14 seconds), but when I hit him at about the 3/8-mile pole, he responded. I thought, I don't think anybody can get to him.

“I really didn't do nothing, just go 'smooch, smooch, smooch,' ” Gallardo added.

On Sunday, Raven's big weekend continued when jockey Jesus Castanon made a successful return from injury aboard Kitchen Fire, an 8-year-old gelding from Raven's barn. Castanon had ridden Chess Master to victory in the 2022 edition of the Turf Dash, but with uncertainty surrounding Castanon's expected return from a fractured left fibula incurred on Jan. 8, Raven turned to Antonio Gallardo to ride Chess Master in this year's Turf Dash.

Castanon, who turns 50 on March 4, proved to be a fast healer.  After undergoing surgery by Dr. Anthony Infante of Brandon to insert a rod and three screws in the bone, Castanon was pronounced “ready to go” for Sunday's seventh race on Kitchen Fire,

In storybook fashion, Castanon, whose career total of 2,683 victories includes the 2011 Preakness on Shackleford, rode Kitchen Fire to a 2-length victory from Imtakinittothebank in the 5 ½-furlong starter/optional claiming event.

Relatively speaking, the stakes weren't that high financially. But Castanon admitted this one was special.

“I'm glad to be back on the team,” said the Mexico City product, who scored his 12th victory of the meet. “I was pretty pumped up today. Whenever you go through injuries like this, you're a little nervous coming back, but once I got back on the horse it came back naturally.

“I have to thank Dr. Infante for helping me return so soon,” Castanon added.

Raven knew Castanon was his old self when she received a video message from Castanon undergoing “therapy.” It showed him vacuuming the house under the watchful eye of his wife, former jockey Rolanda Simpson.

“We've done very well together, and it's great to have him back,” Raven said. “I didn't even have to worry because he is just naturally light, fit and dedicated.”
