New Jersey Sire Sea Wizard Under New Ownership

Sea Wizard, a New Jersey-based son of Uncle Mo who was represented by two winners in his first crop in 2022, has been purchased by Carmine Spinella.

Spinella purchased Colonial Farms in Colts Neck, N.J., in 2022 and Sea Wizard will continue to stand at the farm.

Sea Wizard had progeny earnings of $155,967 despite only having six foals to reach the starting gate in his first crop.

Sea Wizard's leading earner, Great Navigator, won at first asking in an open company race at Monmouth Park on June 4 and followed that with an impressive second-place finish in the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, defeating eventual eclipse champion, Forte and Curly Jack, winner of the G3 Iroquois Stakes.

Bred in Kentucky by R. Alex Rankin, R. Lenihan, and P. Lenihan, Sea Wizard is out of the multiple stakes-winning Tale of the Cat mare Sea Road.

Sea Road is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Great Intentions, and the extended family features champion War Pass and Bayou, Grade 1 winners Jack Milton, Oath and Karlovy Vary, Grade 2 winner Mean Mary, and Grade 3 winner Country Light.

Sea Wizard stands for an advertised fee of $1,500.

EquiRing, in conjunction with Adrian Gonzalez of Checkmate Thoroughbreds, will be joining forces to create a sales venue for the California market.
