Breeders’ Cup Champion Fire At Will Offered As Stallion Prospect On Fasig-Tipton Digital

Bidding is now open for the “Fire At Will Flash Sale,” a one-horse auction on Fasig-Tipton Digital of GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Fire At Will (Declaration of War–Flirt, by Kitten's Joy). The 5-year-old is consigned as a stallion prospect by Bluewater Sales, agent. Bidding will close this coming Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 2 PM ET.

“This is, perhaps, the most powerful stallion family in the world today,” said noted pedigree expert Alan Porter.

The Kentucky-bred is out of the unraced Flirt, a half-sister to Grade I winner Decorated Invader (Declaration of War). This represents the family of Stormy Atlantic (Storm Cat).

Victorious in his second start at two in Saratoga's With Anticipation S., the dark bay added a score in the GII Pilgrim S. and followed up with a win at the world championships. At three, he finished off the board in the GII Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth S., and subsequently came home third in the GIII Transylvania S. To date, he has earned $675,932 on the track.

Added Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales, “Fire At Will has the credentials to be a successful sire in the United States or abroad. He's a Breeders' Cup winning juvenile from an elite sire line and from one of the top sire-producing female families in the stud book. On top of all that, he is an outstanding individual physically. ‘An Exceptional Filly’: First Foal Arrives For Pleasant Acres’ Leinster

Pleasant Acres Stallions is excited to announce the arrival of Leinster's first foal – a filly out of Cool O Toole (Treasure Beach x O'Toole, by Distorted Humor) – bred by Joe and Helen Barbazon.

“Leinster was a great addition to the stallion barn at Pleasant Acres Stallions,” said Helen Barbazon. “It's very exciting to see him produce such an exceptional filly in his first crop. We look forward to following this beautiful foal's career.”

Leinster began his stallion career at Pleasant Acres Stallions in 2022 and he stands for $5000.

He won the Grade 3 Troy Stakes – defeating multiple graded stakes winner and world record-setter Disco Partner and multiple graded stakes winner Pure Sensation while setting his first track record that day, covering 5 1/2 furlongs on the Mellon Turf Course in 1:00.23 – breaking the old track record of 1:00.46 held by Lady Shipman.

He went on to set a Keeneland course record – 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:00.86 – in the $150,000 G2 Shakertown Stakes, where he beat Extravagant Kid – one of five times he defeated his multiple graded stakes-winning rival in graded events.

In 2019, Leinster beat multiple Grade 1-winning half-brother Stormy Liberal in the six-furlong $700,000 G3 Runhappy Turf Sprint at Kentucky Downs.

At five, Leinster won the $150,000 G2 Woodford Stakes after finishing second in the race the previous year. He finished third in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint, defeating sensational multiple Grade 1 winner Got Stormy.

In his final campaign, he won the $100,000 G3 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint Stakes.

Out of the Royal Academy champion-producing mare Vassar, Leinster is half-brother to two-time Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner Stormy Liberal – the champion turf male of 2018.

Six-Time Stakes Winner Fashionably Fast Retired With Earnings Over $800,000

Fashionably Fast, a six-time stakes winner for breeder and co-owner Harris Farms, has been retired. Trained Dean Pederson said the 7-year-old gelding was sent last week to Harris Farms in Coalinga, Calif., where he will reside.

“He'll have a great life there,” Pederson said. “Mr. (John) Harris will take really good care of him.”

By Lucky Pulpit, Fashionably Fast compiled a record of 33-10-8-7 in five seasons of racing with $807,143 in earnings. His final race was a fifth-place finish in the Oct. 8 Harris Farms Stakes at Fresno. Fashionably Fast's six stakes wins included two additions of the Harris Farms Stakes at Fresno (2019, 2020), two runnings of the Tiznow Stakes for state-breds (2020, 2021), the 2020 California Cup Sprint Stakes and 2019 Cary Grant Stakes.

Fashionably Fast had been breezing at Santa Anita towards a possible tilt in this year's edition of the Cal Cup Sprint on Saturday, but last week the decision was made to call it a career. He retires as the highest-earning horse ever trained by Pederson.

“He was just very competitive and the older he got, the more he enjoyed his work,” Pederson noted.
