ThoroEnduro: Remington’s Free Online Handicapping Contest Returns On Sept. 9

ThoroEnduro, the free online handicapping contest at Remington Park, returns for the 10th consecutive year. The contest will begin on Friday, Sept. 9 and continues for the remainder of the 2022 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season, scheduled to end on December 17.

The popular and easy-to-play ThoroEnduro offers $9,500 in prize money with a $4,000 Grand Prize to the champion. ThoroEnduro, a free game that is open to anyone 18 and older, will also pay a $1,000 bonus to the contestant who correctly picks the most winners during the course of the game. Prize money will also be awarded to players finishing second through seventh in the game. The ThoroEnduro site is ready for sign-ups/registrations with the complete list of rules posted at www.thoroenduro.com Contestants may also register to play by clicking the ThoroEnduro button at the top of the www.remingtonpark.com site.

ThoroEnduro is presented by Remington Park's educational handicapping partner Horse Player Now, with past performance assistance from Brisnet. ThoroEnduro is powered by 123 Racing.

Horse Player Now produces the informative weekly “Reasons to Remington” preview podcasts covering Remington Park racing, offering wagering angles and commentary. The podcasts are available before the first night of racing each week at Horseplayernow.com and everywhere you find podcasts.

Brisnet offers their cutting-edge and informative past performances for the ThoroEnduro contest races, helping fans make their best decision on contest selections.

ThoroEnduro players will choose daily from at least three Remington Park races in each of the contest dates of the game. The object of the game is to accumulate “virtual” win, place and show results, with those contestants finishing in the top seven overall gaining prize money. When at least one of their selections finishes fourth place or better in their respective race, the contestant keeps their live status in the game. If their selections fail to finish fourth or better, the contestant may be placed 'In the Barn' until the next week's racing activity begins at Remington Park.

ThoroEnduro contestants will receive 'Lucky Horseshoes' periodically throughout the contest, enabling them to stay in the game if their selections don't perform well. Any contestant that goes “In the Barn” after Nov. 11, will be eliminated from ThoroEnduro. Players must still be active in the game at season's end to be eligible for prize money.

Remington Park has awarded prize money to ThoroEnduro players from across North America. Previous prize winners, through 2021, have hailed from 27 states, including: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and also winners from the provinces of Ontario and Alberta, Canada.

Tracked by more than 171,000 fans on Facebook and 10,600 Twitter followers, Remington Park has provided more than $301 Million to the State of Oklahoma general education fund since the opening of the casino in 2005. Located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District, Remington Park features the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby and Grade 3 Remington Park Oaks on Sunday, September 25. Thoroughbred racing continues through December 17 with simulcast racing daily, and a casino that is always open! Visit remingtonpark.com for more information.

Garrett Gomez’ Daughter Wins Grand Prix Aboard Homebred OTTB

Amanda Gomez, the 19-year-old daughter of late Hall of Fame jockey Garrett Gomez, piloted her family's homebred off-track Thoroughbred to victory in a 1.30-meter, $10,000 Grand Prix on Aug. 14 at the Huntington Beach Summer Classic (California), reports The Chronicle Of The Horse.

Competing under the name All Star, the 10-year-old's Jockey Club name is Been in Denile. A son of Pioneerof the Nile, “Ben” is one of the last horses bred by Garrett Gomez. The jockey piloted his sire to a second-place finish in the Kentucky Derby in 2009, but Ben showed no such inclination to be a racehorse.

After finishing last in each of his two starts on the track, Ben began preparing for his second career with Amanda Gomez at the family's Rising Star Equestrian in Norco, Calif. The gelding has been rising up the levels since 2018, and Gomez hopes to begin competing him at the 1.35-meter height in FEI classes at the Las Vegas National in November.

“He's so talented, so scopey, so powerful and athletic. If you ask him to do something, he's all heart. He really gives it 110 percent every time, which is super hard to find,” Gomez told The Chronicle. “He's everything that you could possibly want in a top horse. He's so careful, and I think as long as I can just continue to take my time with him and develop him the right way, he's going to be one that I hope one day can jump the 1.50-meter classes.”

Sendero is Second Stakes Winner for City of Light

Sendero became the second stakes winner and seventh winner overall for his freshman sire City of Light (Quality Road) with a maiden-breaking victory in the Jamestown S. at Colonial Downs Wednesday. Sent off the 1-5 favorite, the bay colt was hustled out of the gate and rushed up to press the pace four wide down the backstretch through a quarter in :22.66. He stuck his head in front nearing the stretch and bound clear while Bee Mountain chased him home in second.

Sendero missed by just a neck when second in debut over this same course and distance lawn July 18.

City of Light was represented by his first stakes winner over the weekend when Chop Chop won the Aristocrat Gaming Juvenile Fillies S. at Kentucky Downs last Saturday.
