Early Voting, Zandon Breeze For Jim Dandy

Trainer Chad Brown breezed Early Voting and Zandon Saturday over the Saratoga Race Course main track in preparation for next Saturday's $600,000 Jim Dandy (G2), a nine-furlong test for sophomores.

Jeff Drown's Zandon went five-eighths solo in 1:01.95 under exercise rider Kriss Bon, while the Klaravich Stables-owned duo of Early Voting, with Jose Ortiz up, and Accretive covered the same distance in 1:01.05. Accretive is pointed to the $200,000 Amsterdam (G2), a 6 1/2-furlong sprint for sophomores on July 31 at the Spa.

Brown said both of his Jim Dandy contenders worked well.

“Both horses did really well. Zandon went alone. It was a nice easy work for him. I was really pleased in how he was moving,” Brown said. “With Early Voting, I did a little bit more with him today with a workmate. He went fabulous. I was very pleased. As long as they come out of the works well, I'll be happy.”

Brown said Early Voting, last-out winner of the Grade 1 Preakness on May 21 at Pimlico Race Course, impressed in his first breeze over the Saratoga main track.

“We wanted to see how he was moving over the track,” Brown said. “He seems to be a pretty good horse in that way. It seems he takes his racetrack with him. I never see him train poorly, but it's always nice to get that out of the way and give him a work over the track to see that he's moving well.”

Early Voting, by Gun Runner, did breeze a handful of times over the Oklahoma dirt training track last fall ahead of a winter campaign at Aqueduct Racetrack that included a front-running romp in the Withers (G3) in February ahead of a runner-up effort to eventual Grade 1 Belmont Stakes-winner Mo Donegal in the Wood Memorial (G2).

Zandon, a dark bay son of Upstart, was a game second to Mo Donegal in the Remsen (G2) in December at the Big A. Two starts later, he posted a rallying score in the Blue Grass (G1) in April at Keeneland ahead of his last-out third in the Kentucky Derby (G1) on May 7 at Churchill Downs.

Accretive, by Practical Joke, was purchased for $180,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He graduated impressively on debut, drawing off to a 5 3/4-length score in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight on June 26 at Belmont Park.

Selecting an Online Casino

Selecting an online casino shouldn’t be done lightly. While there are a lot of reputable online casinos out there, the Internet has its share of crooks. I’m going to go over a series of items to look for when selecting an online casino.

Online Casino Age

The first thing I look for in an online casino is age. While older doesn’t equal better, it is a good sign. For one thing, an older online casino is bound to have chatter out there. If an online casino is less than one year old, I won’t play there. It might be a great online casino, but I’ll wait for some feedback and age first. Some of the most reputable casinos online are anywhere from 4-13 years old.

Payouts

Another issue with me is payout speed. Sure, an online casino might be lightning quick in taking my money, but how fast can they put it back in my pocket? Over the years this has been a major problem area for many online casinos.

It’s good to check around first. If an online casino is purposely slow, it could be the sign of potential problems. In this day and age, you should be able to get your withdraws processed and in your account (unless they are sending via postal mail) within 48 hours-maybe 72 tops. Anything more is just amateur and behind the times.

Licensing and Information

Is the online casino licensed? If so, with who? Check the address and phone number of the online casino. You should be able to find these easily. If not, there’s a problem.

Give the online casino a call. Someone should answer quickly (three rings or less). If not, it could be a sign of weak customer support-commonplace with many online casinos.

Do they have a street address? Make sure their address isn’t some mailbox out in the middle of a pasture somewhere.

Comments

This last step is really good. Go to your favorite search engine-or two. Next type in the online casino’s name and see what comes up. Try adding search terms to their name like:

Payout
Fraud
Customer service
Forum
Feedback
News
Review

That will get you started. If someone has commented about the online casino, you’ll have a good chance of finding it.

If you can’t find anything, that’s just not a good sign. With any luck, you’ll find many sources of information about the online casino. It doesn’t need to be an all-day thing either. Just do some searches, check out some stuff and if it all adds up, go enjoy yourself.

Staying Safe

It just makes sense to follow these ideas. Another tip is to deposit just a small amount and try out the online casino first. If you like it and they appear reputable, go have a blast.

Gambling online is fun. Just be sure to take some security precautions.

Fishman Files Appeal Of Conviction, 11-Year Sentence

Former veterinarian Seth Fishman, who on July 11 in federal district court in New York City was slapped with an 11-year prison sentence after his conviction on two felony counts of drug adulteration and misbranding, filed a notice of appeal July 22, according to published reports.

Fishman appealed his case, both his conviction and sentencing, to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Fishman and his former assistant Lisa Giannelli are the only ones to go to trial from 31 people indicted on doping charges in 2020. Giannelli was found guilty May 6 of one conspiracy count and scheduled for sentencing in September.

While nearly all the others have pled guilty, three of them, including former trainer Jason Servis and New York veterinarian Alexander Chan, will have a jury trial January 9, 2023.

Former trainer and co-defendant Jorge Navarro, who entered a plea agreement last year, is serving five years.

Thus far, Fishman's sentence is the longest imposed among the doping defendants.
