A total of $7,404,674 was wagered into the Rainbow 6, which began with a carryover of $1,089,069 from Friday's program.

The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for 18 consecutive racing days since the last mandatory payout of $25,914.88 Jan. 30.

La Maquina ($10.40) captured the Race 12 finale to complete the winning 3-10-11-6-3-1 combination. Other winners in the sequence were Unprecedented ($5.60) in Race 7, Propensity ($9) in Race 8, Iconic Avenue ($22) in Race 9, Star Seeking ($4.80) in Race 10 and Hierro ($4.80) in Race 11.

It was the 18th career win and fourth in four tries at Gulfstream for Letruska, voted the Eclipse Award as the top older female of 2021 following a campaign of six wins – including five in a row, four in Grade 1 races – in eight races.

The Rainbow 6 begins anew in Race 6 Sunday with a gross guarantee pool jackpot of $50,000. The feature comes in Race 10, an optional claiming allowance for 4-year-old and up sprinting seven furlongs that drew a field of seven led by 2021 Dwyer (G3) winner First Captain, the 8-5 program favorite; Real Talk, third to 2021 champion sprinter Jackie's Warrior in the Gallant Bob (G2) last fall; 2020 Challenger (G3) winner Trophy Chaser; and 2019 Iroquois (G2) winner Dennis' Moment.

Post time for the first of 11 races Sunday is noon.

Irish-Bred Star Seeking Gets First North American Win Saturday
Michael Tabor's 4-year-old Irish homebred filly Star Seeking, second in her North American debut last month, returned to Gulfstream Park with a front-running 4 ¼-length triumph Saturday.

Ridden by Jose Ortiz for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher, Star Seeking ($4.80) covered one mile over a firm turf course in 1:35.16 for her second career win and first since coming to the U.S. from England last fall.

“She's trained well since she's been here,” Pletcher said. “I thought she ran a decent race but it wasn't up to her capabilities the first time. Today was more of what we have been seeing in the morning.”

Favored at 7-5 in a field of 10, Star Seeking broke alertly from Post 6 and outran Black Sand for the lead, holding it through fractions of 24.14 seconds, 48.15 and 1:12.08. Star Seeking remained firmly in control straightening for home and then opened up through the lane.

“I thought we would be in a stalking position but she broke so well and Jose said she put herself there so easily, so he took advantage,” Pletcher said.

New Rising Star at Santa Anita for Quality Road

Baoma Corp.'s Ganadora (Quality Road), installed the 6-5 choice in this first go, slugged it out early with So It Would Seem (Honor Code), but was peerless in the stretch, running away to win by an impressive 6 1/2-length margin over 2-1 second choice Lady T (Into Mischief). Mixing it up through a sharp opening pace in :21.58 and :44.74, the $1-million KEESEP buy kicked clear turning for home and proved much the best late to earn 'TDN Rising Star' honors. So It Would Seem faded to second last. Ganadora is the 11th 'Rising Star' for her sire Quality Road and the fifth for that stallion hailing from the Bob Baffert barn. Three of the previous four Baffert-trained Quality Road 'Rising Stars', Corniche, Roadster and Klimt, have gone on to be Grade I winners.

The filly is out of Grade III-placed Beloveda (Ghostzapper), who began her racing career in Poland before being imported to the States. Gainesway originally secured the mare in partnership with Michael Hernon for $205,000 at the 2013 FTKFEB sale. Her 2016 Scat Daddy filly, SP Mistress of Love, summoned $1-million at KEESEP and her 2018 filly Hana Road (Quality Road) was a $450,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga grad before Ganadora gave the mare her second seven-figure sale. Gainesway bought out Hernon at the 2021 FTKFEB sale, where the mare hammered for $510,000. Beloveda is also responsible for a juvenile filly by Empire Maker and a yearling filly by Street Sense. She was bred back to Nyquist.

FOY Contenders Breeze in South Florida

The South Florida worktab was dotted with several horses tuning up Saturday morning for a possible start in the GII Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth S. at Gulfstream Park Mar. 5.

WinStar Farm and Siena Farm LLC's 'TDN Rising Star' Emmanuel (More Than Ready) will be in search of a third win in as many starts in the Fountain of Youth and tuned up for the 8 1/2-furlong test with a bullet half-mile in :48.05 (1/32) Saturday morning at trainer Todd Pletcher's base at Palm Beach Downs.

He worked great, I was very pleased with it,” said the conditioner, who also breezed GII Remsen S. hero Mo Donegal (Uncle Mo, 4f, :49.37) and GII Iroquois S. hero Major General (Constitution, 5f, 1:02.29). Both are under consideration for the Fountain of Youth.

“I don't know for sure. I have to talk to Jerry Crawford about Mo Donegal tomorrow,” Pletcher said. “I talked to [WinStar's] Elliott [Walden] a little bit this morning. One of my concerns is that it looks like it's going to be a big field. You might enter and draw a bad post. We might take a look at entering both Mo Donegal and Major General. All things being equal, Major General will probably go to the [Mar. 12 GII] Tampa Bay Derby.”

Rattle N Roll (Connect), winner of last year's GI Claiborne Breeders' Futurity, prepped for his seasonal debut in the Fountain of Youth by drilling five-eighths of a mile in :58.67 Saturday morning over the Gulfstream Park main track.

“It went really well. The horse worked super,” trainer Ken McPeek said. “He worked fantastic and came out of it good. We're going to do a little gate work Wednesday, and he's all set.”

Howling Time (Not This Time), unraced since his fifth-place effort to Smile Happy (Runhappy) in the GII Kentucky Jockey Club S. in late November, went five furlongs in :58.54, while his Dale Romans stablemate Giant Game (Giant's Causeway) covered a similar distance in :59.04.

Simplification (Not This Time), an excellent second in the GIII Holy Bull S., went five furlongs in 1:02.66 at Gulfstream Park for trainer Antonio Sano.
