Danon Beluga Boards Classic Trail at Tokyo

Twelve months ago, Efforia (Jpn) (Epiphaneia {Jpn}) posted an authoritative success in the G3 Kyodo News Service Hai en route to a victory in the G1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) and ultimately Japanese Horse of the Year honours. While it remains to be seen whether Danox Inc.'s Danon Beluga (Jpn) (Heart's Cry {Jpn}) can ascend to similar heights, the bay colt stamped himself as one to watch with a 1 1/2-length defeat of narrowly favoured Geoglyph (Jpn) (Drefong) in Sunday's 1800-metre test at Tokyo.

The third betting choice at 29-10, the son of 2016 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf runner-up Coasted (Tizway) raced in about mid-division and was kept out of harm's way by Kohei Matsuyama as Be Astonished (Jpn) (American Patriot) galloped them along over turf that was listed as good, but appeared to have a fair bit of juice in it on a rainy afternoon. Creeping into contention wide on the course with 600 metres to travel, Danon Beluga came after the pacesetter in earnest at the furlong grounds and finished with good energy to score comfortably. Geoglyph, victorious at Group 3 level last year, ran on for second.

Pedigree Notes:

Katsumi Yoshida acquired former Jeff Treadway colorbearer Coasted for $1.3 million at the 2017 Fasig-Tipton November Sale and foaled this colt Feb. 7, 2019. A little more than five months later, Danon Beluga was hammered down to this prominent owner for the equivalent of $1,472,000 at the JRHA Select Sale in Hokkaido. Coasted is herself a daughter of MGSW/GISP Malibu Pier, who is also responsible for Coasted's MGSP year-older full-sister Malibu Stacy. Treadway also sold three-time Grade I winner Sweet Reason (Street Sense) to Yoshida for $2.7 million at FTKNOV in 2015.

Coasted is represented by a 2-year-old filly by the late Duramente (Jpn) (King Kamehameha {Jpn}), a yearling filly by Daiwa Major (Jpn) (Sunday Silence) and is due to Kizuna (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) this season.

Oriental gambling

The tree of gambling is growing and its roots expanding day by day. While few decades before the tree was deemed as a weed and left unattended, in recent years it has received immense attention and nourishment from different countries of the world. This is mainly because of two interrelated reasons- the alarming rate at which the gambling tree is bearing fruits in the form of revenue and the its unfailing involvement with people.

At present gambling is legal in several corners of the world. It is lately declared lawful in some of the Asian countries. As a result new resorts that are open to all are built at these places. For instance the city of Cambodia has come up with the Ho Wah Genting Poipet Casino Resort that bills itself as the Las Vegas of the East. The casino offes all the delightful games such as B6 Baccarat, Mini Baccarat, Blackjack, Casino War etc. In the Indian subcontinent there are six casinos in goa out of which 5 are slots-only establishments. The one full serving casino of this place is an off-shore casino on atwinn engine catamaran, Casino Goa. It is a lifetime experience to visit and play at this floating casino that offers a bar, a swimming pool and a great restaurant featuring a multi-cultural cuisine.

One such similar yet unique experience is at the casinos of hongkong. The reason being the construction of Hong Kong casinos on ships, either in port or as casino cruises. However it seems that water and casinos share a good liaison for the only casino in Laos, the Dan Sa Vanh is located along the Nam Ngum Lake. Besides gambling the other activities at the casino include boating and golf.

Gambling is made legal and so there are around 15 casinos owned and run by ht e government in Philippines. Out of these the Fontana Resort is not for the local people of this place but only for the foreigners.

If you are looking forward to delight in the beauty of snow capped mountains along with playing your favorite games such as Caribbean Stud Poker, Keno, Money Wheel, Pai Gow, Roulette, Blackjack etc., the Genting Highlands, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is just the ideal place to hit. Besides being an acclaimed tourist spot, the Genting Highlands, by virtue of these casinos are quite popular in the gaming world.

Lotteries and lottery related games are quite significant and greatly relished on the land of South Korea. South Koreans have an immense liking for lottery games. This can be well assessed from the fact that South Africans are the pioneers of online gambling, they had introduced in 2002. Along with it a new lottery game which is akin to financial winner, the Sports Toto is a gift to the gambling world by South Korea. But this place is not all about lotteries. There are other forms of gambling too such as horse racing and cycling.

Though legalization of gambling in various corners of the world is at a surge these days, yet gambling should be done within limits. Addiction of gambling is extremely fatal to the life of the gambler and his family.

Blackadder Earns Preakness Berth With El Camino Real Derby Victory

Blackadder defeated ten sophomore foes in the $100,000 El Camino Real Derby on Saturday at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, Calif. With the victory, Blackadder earned an all-expenses paid, free berth into the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes, on May 21. The aforementioned Preakness incentive has been awarded to the winner of the El Camino Real Derby since 2018. Last year, El Camino Real Derby winner Rombauer took advantage of the free berth and went on to win the Preakness for trainer Michael McCarthy and jockey Flavien Prat.

Sent off as the second choice in the wagering at 7-2, Blackadder – ridden by Edwin Maldonado  – sat in midpack and saved ground on the clubhouse turn and around the far turn bend as longshot Nuestro Engreido set the pace with fractions of :23.46, :47.77 and 1:12.58.

At the quarter pole, Maldonado waited for a seam, found room in upper stretch, and Blackadder accelerated towards 3-5 race favorite Mackinnon, who had taken the lead at the furlong pole after one mile in 1:37.96. In the final furlong, Blackadder made up ground and, approaching the sixteenth pole, was level with Mackinnon. The two Southern California shippers battled to the wire, with Blackadder a neck in front at the finish.

Final time on the Tapeta synthetic surface was 1:50.34 for the nine furlongs.

Blackadder is trained by Bob Baffert, who picked up his third El Camino Real Derby victory with Saturday's win. Baffert won the 1996 edition with Cavonnier and the 2019 running with Azul Coast. Blackadder paid $9.60 to win, $3.80 to place and $3.00 to show. Mackinnon paid $2.60 to place and $2.20 to show, with Del Mo returning $4.40 to show.

“[Baffert] told me that if I'm gonna win, I'm gonna have to earn it because [Blackadder] is a bit lazy,” said Maldonado. “I wanted to be behind because there were three sprinters stretching out. I knew the pace would be fast, so I wanted to stay inside and then swing out when we got to the stretch. [Turning for home], there were too many horses outside of me, so I had to wait. I noticed that Mackinnon got the jump on me, but I was able to get through an opening, and [Blackadder] got it done.”

Mackinnon, who ran third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf and was a multiple stakes winner last year at 2 in Southern California, settled for second under jockey Abel Cedillo. He was 3 1/2 lengths lengths clear of stablemate Del Mo, who checked in third. Il Bellator completed the superfecta, C'Mon Man was fifth, followed by Boise, Nuestro Engreido, Unraptured, Stormy Samurai, Meetmeattheclub, and Dr Pescado.

Seventeen Kentucky Derby points were also on the line, but with Baffert horses unable to earn qualifying points while the the trainer is under a two-year suspension by Churchill Downs, only the minor awards were earned. Mackinnon received four points, Del Mo two and Il Bellator one.

Updated Kentucky Derby Leaderboard

With the victory, Blackadder increased his career earnings to $108,920. The son of Quality Road was bred in Kentucky by Stone Farm and purchased for $620,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He now sports a lifetime record of two wins from four starts. Blackadder is owned by the large syndicate group of SF Racing LLC, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Robert Masterson, Stonestreet Stables LLC, Jay Schoenfarber, Waves Edge Capital LLC, Catherine Donovan, Golconda Stable, Siena Farm LLC.

Live racing resumes at Golden Gate Fields on Sunday with an 8-race card. Sunday has an early first post time of 11:15 AM, so fans can enjoy the races and get home in time for “the big game.”
