Laoban’s Full-Brother to Stand in NY

Late young stallion Laoban's full-brother Son of Thunder (Uncle Mo–Chattertown, by Speightstown) is set to stand in New York at Waldorf Farm for 2022. He will be part of the Climax Stallions roster for a fee of $2,500 LFSN.

“We are honored to have been able to purchase a full brother to such an incredible stallion whose life was cut much too short” said Sean Feld, President of Climax Stallions. “We will honor Laoban's legacy by offering a complementary breeding to anyone who bred, bought or is racing any progeny of Laoban.”

Purchased for $475,000 at Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Sale, the Lael Stable runner made just three starts, finishing second when last seen in April.

“He's by Uncle Mo, who is becoming a legendary sire of sires and we are flattered to add Son of Thunder to our stallion barn here at Waldorf Farm” said Waldorf Farm owner Dr. Jerry Bilinski.

Tamahere Supplemented to FTKNOV

Graded stakes winner Tamahere (Fr) (Wootton Bassett (GB) – Alatasarai (Ire), by Giant's Causeway) has been supplemented to the upcoming Fasig-Tipton November Sale. Catalogued as Hip 273, she will be consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by ELiTE, agent.

Tamahere began her career in her native France, where she was stakes placed at two and a stakes winner at three. Capturing her Stateside debut in the GII Sands Point S. for Chad Brown, she was second in the GI Coolmore Jenny Wiley S. this term and won the Violet S. at Monmouth.

“Tamahere is a very exciting supplemental entry,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “Not only is she a graded stakes winner and Grade I-placed in the United States, but she's also a stakes winner in Europe. She's by one of the most exciting young sires in the world, beautifully bred, and just 4-years-old.”

Son Of Thunder, Full-Brother To Laoban, To Stand At Waldorf Farm In New York

Laoban's legacy will live on in New York as his full-brother, Son of Thunder, is set to stand at Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, N.Y., for the 2022 breeding season.

Son of Thunder, a $475,000 yearling purchased out of the Saratoga Select Sale, raced in the colors of the prestigious Lael Stables. A son of sire of sires, Uncle Mo, and out of the stakes-placed Speightstown mare Chattertown, Son of Thunder is built with stretch and athleticism.

“He easily passes the eye test. If he duplicates what his brother did with his foals, you can breed any type of mare to him,” says Waldorf Farm manager Kenny Toye.

Also very complimentary of the dark bay colt is Waldorf Farm owner, Dr. Jerry Bilinski, who describes him as having great size and conformation.

“He's by Uncle Mo, who is becoming a legendary sire of sires and we are flattered to add Son of Thunder to our stallion barn here at Waldorf Farm,” says Bilinski.

Son of Thunder will join a stacked Climax Stallions roster for the upcoming breeding season, standing for $2,500 LFSN.

Colin Keane To Be Crowned Irish Champion For Third Time

Colin Keane is set to become champion jockey in Ireland for the third time, following a record-breaking season. With the Irish Flat season set to conclude at Naas on Sunday, Keane is currently on 139 winners for the season. In August he passed the previous record of 126 set in 2013 by Joseph O'Brien.

Aidan O'Brien will be crowned champion trainer for the 24th time, while Sue Magnier is the champion owner of 2021.

Dylan Browne McMonagle, a native of County Donegal, is set to be crowned champion apprentice. He rode his first Group winner on the Joseph O'Brien-trained Baron Samedi in the G3 Vintage Crop S. at Navan in April. Ahead of the final weekend of action, Brown McMonagle is on 47 winners, 15 clear of Mikey Sheehy with Nathan Crosse, Sam Ewing and Joey Sheridan next on the list.

“I have always been struck by the commitment and dedication of those working in our industry and my heartfelt thanks goes to each and every one whose extra efforts ensured that that the impact of Covid-19 on the 2021 Flat season was kept to a minimum,” said Suzanne Eade, interim Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland.

“Having owners back on the racecourse from early June was a huge boost to us all as was the return of racegoers ahead of a thrilling two days at Leopardstown and the Curragh for Longines Irish Champions Weekend.

“As we crown our champions this weekend, Colin Keane deserves special mention for breaking a number of records during the course of the season, he goes to Dundalk this evening with 139 winners to his name, a remarkable number.

“While our season wraps up on Sunday, I look forward to the international competition in the days ahead and I wish our runners heading to the Breeders' Cup and the Melbourne Cup all the very best.”
