Gormley Firster Relishes The Slop at Indiana Grand

2nd-Indiana Grand, $34,000, Msw, 9-20, 2yo, f, 5 1/2f, 1:04.86, sy, 3 1/4 lengths.
AWESOMELY SHY (f, 2, Gormley–Awesome Story, by Awesome Again) was pegged at morning-line odds of 9-2, but was completely friendless in the market and was off at 12.50-1 for a high-percentage outfit based south and east at Belterra Park. Straightened out after breaking a bit to her right, the homebred cut out a decent pace on the front end, increased her advantage in upper stretch and was punched out to best even-money Abuela's Humor (Distorted Humor) by 3 1/4 lengths. The 10th winner for her freshman sire (by Malibu Moon), Awesomely Shy is out of a winning daughter of MSW Drexel Monorail (Glitterman), herself a full-sister to the useful MGSW sprinter Champali. Awesome Story foaled a full-sister to the winner this year and was bred back to Cloud Computing. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $20,400. Click for the Equibase.com chart.

Tuesday Insights: Regally Bred Filly Debuts at Parx

Sponsored by Alex Nichols Agency
7th-PRX, $42K, Msw, 3yo/up, f/m, 7 1/2fT, 3:37 p.m. ET
ANGHAAM (Curlin) is the first of just two foals out of Serena's Harmony (Tapit), purchased by Bridlewood Farm as a weanling for $3 million at Keeneland November in 2014, the top price for a weanling at that sale and the second most-expensive of that age group ever sold at Keeneland. Lady Take Charge (War Front–Take Charge Lady) brought a record $3.2 million in 2015. Serena's Harmony is a daughter of SW Serena's Cat (Storm Cat), whose produce include 'TDN Rising Star' and Lane's End sire Honor Code (A.P. Indy), MGSW Noble Tune (Unbridled's Song) and Declarationofpeace (War Front). The Florida-bred filly's third dam is MSW Serena's Tune (Mr. Prospector–Serena's Song), dam of Serena's Cat's Group 3-winning half-brother Vocalised (Vindication) and herself a half-sister to GSWs Grand Reward (Storm Cat) and Harlington (Unbridled) as well as G1SW Sophisticat (Storm Cat). Purchased by Shadwell for $800,000 at Keeneland Septembeer in 2019, Anghaam has a 2-year-old half-brother by Candy Ride (Arg), the second and final produce of Serena's Harmony, who passed away in 2019. Easing Of COVID Travel Restrictions Expected To Help Thoroughbred Industry’s Rebound

The White House announced Monday plans to ease COVID-19 travel restrictions into the United States by foreign visitors from 33 countries, including the United Kingdom and European Union, starting in November. The move is expected to clear the way to make it easier for foreign nationals to attend important equine-related events in the United States like the Breeders' Cup World Championships in California and the November breeding stock sales in Kentucky.

The new rules will require all foreign nationals from the impacted countries arriving in the United States to show proof of being fully vaccinated, according to the White House.

“This is very welcome news as Thoroughbred breeding and racing in the United States continues to rebound from the negative impacts of the coronavirus pandemic,” said NTRA President and Chief Executive Officer Alex Waldrop.

A Case of You to Be Supplemented to Abbaye

Group 1-placed A Case Of You (Ire) (Hot Streak {Ire}) will be supplemented to the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye on Oct. 3. The Adrian McGuinness trainee, earlier a winner of the G3 Lacken S. at Naas in May, was second in the G1 Derrinstown Stud Flying Five S. at The Curragh on Sept. 12.

“He's going to be supplemented for the Abbaye, so he goes there next week,” McGuinness confirmed. “He came out of his race really well, he was bouncing and very happy. I think he's improved, it was his first time over five [furlongs] and I really am looking forward to a big run there [ParisLongchamp].

“People were telling me that he was a seven [furlong] horse and that he needed six [furlongs], but he showed me a lot of natural speed at home.

“That's why we decided to drop back to five, it was his first run ever over five. For a 3-year-old to run for the first time ever over five furlongs, taking on some of the best sprinters in training and to finish the way he finished, you couldn't complain.”

Depending on how the G3 Anglesey S. hero runs at ParisLongchamp, an overseas venture to Del Mar in November is not out of the question.

“We'll make plans after that, we'll see which way the Abbaye goes, but there is a possibility that if he ran well he might go to the Breeders' Cup,” he said. “Either way I do think he's definitely going to get better, he's an exciting horse to look forward to for the future.”
