Will Lambe To Leave BHA
Will Lambe is to leave his role as executive director of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) at the end of August.
Lambe was appointed to his current position in 2017, having previously been director of corporate affairs. He joined the BHA's communications team after completing its graduate scheme in 2003.
BHA chief executive Julie Harrington said: “I would like to thank Will personally and on behalf of the organisation for his contribution to the BHA and the sport. His loyalty to his colleagues and to the BHA has been obvious to all and he will be a real asset in his next role.”
Lambe has been heavily involved in key issues faced by British racing and has .liaised closely with the government over levy reform, the gambling review and plans surrounding Brexit. Since the start of the Covid outbreak he has also assisted in the resumption of racing and recovery plan.
“I'm enormously proud of the role I have played within the BHA and the sport I love, over a great many years,” said Lambe. “It feels like the right time to move on as the organisation moves to the next phase of supporting industry recovery.”

Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Hakodate and Kokura Racecourses. A pair of US-breds see action at group level on the turf this weekend, as Lotus Land (Point of Entry) contests the G3 Chukyo Kinen (1800m), while Group 1 winner Cafe Pharoah (American Pharoah) tries the grass for the first time in the G3 Hakodate Kinen (2000m). Grade I winner Joyful Victory was acquired privately by Shadai Farm in 2016, was bred to American Pharoah the following winter and produced the filly Sky Nile, herself a debut winner on dirt last December. Danon Peekaboo, a half-brother to SP Jennifer's Dream (Medaglia d'Oro) and MSP Saqqara King (American Pharoah), fetched ¥105 million ($982,202) from Danox Co. Ltd. at last year's JRHA Select Sale. LECCE BAROQUE (f, 4, Uncle Mo–My Fast One, by Elusive Quality) ran a hole in the wind in her first two starts, scoring by a combined 19 lengths (see below, gate 10), but the wheels came off when ninth to Cafe Pharoah at 2-1 in last year's G3 Unicorn S. She has since posted a runner-up effort from three trips to the post, but the $410,000 Keeneland September yearling turned $525,000 OBS March breezer makes an interesting shift to the turf for the first time here. Produced by a half-sister to SW No Mo Dough (Uncle Mo), Lecce Baroque is bred on the exact same cross as GISW Gomo and GSW Lost Raven and on a similar cross to the late Laoban. B-MMM Stables (KY)

Haskell Stakes Diary: Patrick O’Neill on Hot Rod Charlie’s Belmont Performance, Haskell Chances
Patrick O’Neill, nephew to two-time Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Doug O’Neill and bloodstock agent Dennis O’Neill, had a different interest from most college kids when he was an undergraduate student and a member of Brown University’s football team. He insisted on adding TVG to the fraternity house’s cable television package; he was the one who watched horse racing at every opportunity, including in class, and in film study prior to practice.
