First Stakes Winner For El Kabeir

Don Chicco, a debut second going five furlongs in Rome on May 1, graduated by three lengths when upped a furlong and switched to the all-weather at the same course just eight days later, and earned a first black-type rosette here while giving his first-season sire El Kabeir (Scat Daddy) a first stakes winner. Racing two lengths off the pace and on the outside without cover through the opening furlongs, Don Chicco moved to the fence rounding the turn. Switched to the middle of the course once again upon straightening, Don Chicco was put to a drive and, once passing his rivals, kicked clear to win by 2 1/4 lengths. El Kabeir, who stands at Yeomanstown Stud for €6,000, raced in the U.S. for Zayat Stables, winning the G3 Jerome S. and G3 Gotham S. over 1700 metres and finishing third in the GI Wood Memorial.  Click for the SNAI chart and video.

Injured Cameramen Expected to Make Full Recovery

A pair of RaceTech camera operators who were injured after falling from an elevated platform at Hamilton Tuesday are expected to make a full recovery. According a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman, the pair had fallen on to the roof of a vehicle at the track prior to the day's first race. After a lengthy delay while emergency services attended to the two men, the fixture was eventually called off.

RaceTech tweeted: “We are pleased to report our two injured camera operators are receiving hospital treatment and early indications are that both are expected to make a full recovery. We will continue to update, thank you for all the good wishes.”

An investigation into the incident is under way.

Breaking her maiden at the third attempt in Kempton's 12-furlong Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Fillies' Novice S. on Wednesday, Juddmonte's Chiasma (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) became the latest winner for the legendary Kind (Ire) (Danehill) in the process. Third on debut at Sandown Apr. 23 and runner-up at Goodwood May 22, the seventh foal out of the now-deceased broodmare supreme was sent off the 2-1 second favourite with Frankie Dettori making the trip for the ride. Breaking professionally before being settled in third, the John and Thady Gosden-trained bay full-sister to Frankel (GB) and Noble Mission (GB) passed the 5-6 market-leader Sea Sylph (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) with a furlong remaining and drew away to score with authority by two lengths as they pulled clear of the remainder.

Chiasma is one of only three foals produced in the final 10 years of her life along with a 2021 colt by Kingman (GB), but Joyeuse is continuing the good work by throwing three smart types in Jubiloso (GB) (Shamardal), Jovial (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and Maximal (GB) also by Galileo who was fourth in the recent G1 St James's Palace S.
