Gamble For Grayson Handicapping Challenge Between Little Red Feather Racing, Equibase

Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation announced today that it has partnered with Little Red Feather Racing and Equibase Company for the Gamble for Grayson Handicapping Challenge.

The handicapping contest will take place November 28-29 and span five graded stakes races that are scheduled to be held that weekend at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, Calif. Representatives from Little Red Feather and Equibase will have a $500 bankroll, of which $100 must be played on each of the specified races on win, place, show, exacta, trifecta, or superfecta wagers. At the end of the weekend, all remaining bankroll and winnings will be donated to Grayson.

“We thank Little Red Feather and Equibase for recognizing the importance of equine veterinary research,” said Jamie Haydon, president of Grayson. “Grayson's previous handicapping challenges for charity at Indiana Grand and with The Stronach Group were rousing successes, and we appreciate the interest from other organizations to participate in similar contests to benefit our foundation.”

The team representing Little Red Feather is Gary Fenton, managing partner of Little Red Feather; and Kenny Mayne, sports journalist for ESPN. The Equibase team is composed of Christina Blacker, TVG host, reporter, and analyst; and Ellis Star, national racing analyst for Equibase.

“Little Red Feather prioritizes the health and wellness of our racehorses, and Grayson-funded research enables us and all horse owners to ensure that our horses are receiving the best care at all stages of their lives,” said Fenton. “Along with Kenny Mayne, I am excited to put my handicapping skills to the test on behalf of Little Red Feather to raise money for such an important cause.”

The races that have been selected for the Gamble for Grayson Handicapping Challenge are the grade 1 Hollywood Derby and Matriarch Stakes, the grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap, and the grade 3 Jimmy Durante Stakes and Cecil B. Demille Stakes.

Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation is traditionally the nation's leading source of private funding for equine medical research that benefits all breeds of horses. Singing Saint Leads 2021 Fees For Alberta’s Beau Valley Stable

Beau Valley Stable in Didsbury, Alberta is pleased to announce the 2021 stud fees for its five-stallion line up.

Last year, Coltimus Prime a classic winner on two continents was added to the roster and he is now the sole representative at stud of the Milwaukee Brew legacy. On Oct. 30, it was announced that Milwaukee Brew arrived at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement near Georgetown, Ky.

The complete 2021 line up and fees (all prices in Canadian dollars) include Singing Saint who will stand for $3,000; Coltimus Prime and Gotcha Gold each at $2,500; Big Lightning and Omega Code each at $2,000.

Climax Stallions Announces Fees For 2021 Roster

After a very successful year across the country for Climax Stallions, 2021 looks to be equally as promising.

Topping the roster this year is stallion, St Patrick's Day, who will stand again for $5,000 LFSN at Journeyman Stallions in Ocala, Fla. St Patrick's Day, the full brother to the brilliant, American Pharoah, concluded the 2020 breeding season with 116 mares bred.

Next on the Climax Stallions roster is Curlin to Mischief, California's co-leading second crop sire by winners, blacktype winners and blacktype horses. Leading his progeny is top juvenile stakes winner, Good with People. Despite his recent success, Curlin to Mischief's 2021 fee will remain at $3,500 LFSN standing at Rancho San Miguel in San Miguel, Calif.

Concluding the list is Editorial, who will stand the 2021 season for $2,500 LFSN at a new location, Freedom Hills Farm in Taneytown, Md. Uncle Mo has quickly become a sire of sires which looks to brighten the future for his half-brother, Editorial. Editorial will be finishing up his shuttling duties in Peru, where he bred a nice book of mares, and head back to the U.S. for 2021 and beyond.

Grade 2-Placed River Dancer Retired To Ohio’s Byerpatch Farm For 2021

Ohio breeders will have their first chance to breed to a Grade 2-placed juvenile star sired by Pioneerof the Nile when his top-class son River Dancer commences stallion duties at Burke Byer's Byerpatch Farm in Lebanon, Ohio in 2021.

River Dancer brings to Ohio breeders a unique opportunity to breed to—and to acquire a lifetime breeding right to–an extremely talented 2-year-old sired by a proven sire-of-sires and leading sire himself.

Breaking slowly in his debut River Dancer recovered to post a resounding win at Belmont Park. His impressive time of 1:09 4/5 for six furlongs was accomplished with an electrifying :23 final quarter mile.

For his second start he was entered in the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga against more seasoned 2-year-olds. Caught in a traffic jam on the backstretch he roared home with another final quarter mile in :23 to finish second to Bashart.

His ecstatic owners saw in River Dancer a genuine Breeders Cup Juvenile contender, but that joy was short-lived as their rising star stepped in a hole while pulling up. Diagnosed with a severe rupture in his hind suspensory ligament, he was vanned off the track.

River Dancer was weighted at 112 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap for these two brilliant performances.

Rather than retire River Dancer to stud his owners elected to bring him back to the races after a 27 month hiatus. He placed once at seven furlongs (in 1:21 4/5) in several starts as a 5-year-old while still bothered by his 2-year-old injury.

River Dancer's unquestioned talent coupled with his stellar pedigree creates for Ohio breeders a unique breeding opportunity.

River Dancer aims to join fellow sons of leading sire Pioneerof the Nile, including American Pharoah and Cairo Prince, whose graded stakes performances as 2-year-olds previewed their later success as stallions.

America's leading second-year sire American Pharoah has already sired two Grade 1 winners. America's leading third-year sire Cairo Prince sired the 2020 Grade 3 Ohio Derby winner Dean Martini.

Two Grade 1 stakes-winning sons of Pioneerof the Nile – champion Classic Empire and Grade 1 winner Midnight Storm – will have their first crops at the races in 2021. Yearlings by Classic Empire sold up to $375,000 this year while Midnight Storm yearlings sold up to $200,000.

“We are very happy to stand this high-class son of a proven sire of sires at Byerpatch Farm,” said Byerpatch Farm owner Burke Byer. “My father bred many good racehorses at this farm and we expect River Dancer to carry on this tradition for us. We set a very reasonable stud fee for him and are offering breeders another great incentive by awarding a free lifetime breeding to River Dancer after four seasons are purchased. I believe River Dancer will become a leading Ohio stallion.”

The handsome 16.1-hand River Dancer will stand at an introductory stud fee of $1,500 live foal. Additional mares will be covered for $1,000 each. A 10 percent booking fee applies to each mare.

Breeders automatically earn a free lifetime breeding right to River Dancer after four stud fees have been paid.
