Offered by Roger Varian's Carlburg Stables, the 5-year-old mare has won twice–once each on turf and the all-weather–and was fourth in the Listed Snowdrop Fillies' S. at Kempton last Saturday. From the family of Poet's Word (Ire) (Poet's Voice {GB}), she is out of a half-sister to the dam of GIII Chicago S. winner Abby Hatcher (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}).

A yearling filly by Mehmas (Ire) (lot 55) came in second on the buyers' sheet when making 45,000gns on the bid of Kingthorn Racing. Another two lots cleared 25,000gns–a yearling son of Admire Moon (Jpn) (lot 58), also from Baroda Stud, caught the eye of R T Goodes at 35,000gns. Rounding out the top four was Laafy (Noble Mission {GB}) (lot 17), who was consigned by Whitewall Stables and brought 27,000gns from Brian Ellison.

Padraic Gahan of Baroda Stud, which was the leading vendor at the sale with 13 yearlings sold of 13 offered, said, “We are pleased with our consignment at the Tattersalls Online April Sale. It is great that all 13 of our yearlings sold and we would like to wish their purchasers luck with them be that for re-offering in the Autumn, at the breeze-up sales or on the racecourse. The under-tack previews will take place Tuesday, May 21 at Chelmsford City and Tuesday, May 28 at Dundalk Stadium. Both options are available for unraced juveniles and there will be gallop opportunities for entries on the all-weather tracks. Spectators are welcome to attend at both locations where vendors will breeze over a distance of their choice and each lot will be filmed with footage published on Thursday, May 30.

All lots will be catalogued with their vendor details to allow for enquiries and to arrange inspections prior to the sale. Entries for the Online Breeze-Up Session can be submitted online and will close on Friday, May 10.

“The Online Breeze Up provides vendors with a cost-effective opportunity to breeze domestically whilst reaching an international audience via the Tattersalls Online platform,” said Katherine Sheridan, Tattersalls' online sales executive. “We believe the facilities at Chelmsford and Dundalk offer an excellent option for those wishing to present their breeze-up two-year-olds to a global market in the June Online Sale and we anticipate the concept will be well supported by consignors and purchasers alike.”

Consigned by trainer Olly Murphy's Warren Chase Stables, Eavesdropping is a full-sister to the talented hurdler Butch (GB), who will be bidding for a fourth straight victory when he lines up in the G2 Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock on Saturday, February 17. The eight-year-old Eavesdropping was sold to Whitson Bloodstock who were acting on a positive recommendation from the mare's trainer.

Following the sale, Murphy said, “Eavesdropping has been bought by my father and uncle to go to the breeding paddocks. Obviously, I have Butch, the full-brother, at home who is favourite for the Grade 2 on Saturday. She was a filly we were keen to have back if possible and she's made a nice price for her owners, Deva Racing.”

Murphy also consigned the top lot from the horses-in-training section of the sale when wildcard entry Macanudo (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) (lot 84) sold to Ian Williams for 21,000gns. Manacudo was a late addition to the catalogue after opening his account at Chelmsford last week and Murphy was able to celebrate a job well done with a three-year-old he'd only had in his care since October.

“Macanudo was bought for 9,000gns at Tattersalls last October,” Murphy explained. “He has won a race and doubled his price tag so we're delighted. My father and uncle own the mare so hopefully he can win more races for our home pedigree. We look forward to supporting the Tattersalls Online sales again going forward.”

Three-year-old filly Pomeriggio (Ire) (Caravaggio) (lot 32), consigned by Jessica Harrington's Commonstown Stables, was the pick of the other lots from the horses-in-training section of the sale having fetched a bid of 15,500gns from Gerard O'Neill.

The overall top four was completed by the 13-year-old broodmare Jufoon (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) (lot 77), who has already produced two winners from two runners and was offered in foal to Kameko. Jufoon, who was Listed-placed herself as a three-year-old, was sold to Gordian Troeller Bloodstock, on behalf of Gabe Hall, for 18,500gns.

Of the 78 lots offered, 39 sold (50%) for a gross of 250,200gns. The average was 6,415gns and the median was 4,000gns.

The sire of undefeated G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Ace Impact (Fr), the Darley sire's eldest foals are 3-year-olds. He also has G2 Premio Dormello winner Aloa (GB) and four other stakes winners to date.

Von Ullmann said, “We believe that Cracksman is the perfect stallion for Schlenderhan's philosophy because he fits perfectly with our Adlerflug (Ger) mares, especially those out of Monsun (Ger) dams. What more can you ask of a stallion who in his first crop has bred an Arc winner? We have a couple of Adlerflug mares who could visit him next year. We will wait until we do our proper planning but he's definitely going to get a very strong mare from us.”

Leading the horses-in-training was lot 19, Blue Prince (Ire) (Blue Point {Ire}) who sold to Gary Hignett and Angela Turner's G & A Racing for 52,000gns. The winner, consigned by Richard Fahey's Musley Bank Stables, is a great grandson of G3 Ballyogan S. heroine Lidanna (GB) (Nicholas).

“We were driving but I could watch the sale on my mobile and we're really pleased,” said Turner. “Gary and myself had horses separately before but now we're living together and we've made G and A Racing. Gary found the horse online and we've just retired one of our horses so we were looking for a replacement. We might see if there's some all-weather stuff for him but mainly we'll get him sparked up for the next turf season.”

The top price for a race filly on the day was 40,000gns, as Dan Astbury and Stockton Hall snapped up Soldier Of Fortune (Ire) 4-year-old Final Escape (Ire) (lot 26). A half-sister to G1 Slaney Novice Hurdle second Last Encounter (Ire) (Beneficial {GB}), the dark bay was consigned by Canterbrook Stud and had finished second on her bumper debut last month.

Topping the sale was the 3-year-old colt Teorie (Ire) (lot 24) who was knocked down for 45,000gns to Fergal O'Brien Racing and his stable jockey Paddy Brennan. Already a winner from five starts, the colt is a full-brother to the winning Theodulus (Ire) and is from the extended family of G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Gear Up (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}). He was consigned by Jim Bolger's Glebe House Stables.

“We bought a lovely horse last year from Mr. Bolger called Dancila by the same sire and this horse had a good profile, I loved his win at Leopardstown,” said O'Brien. “We have an owner who wants a juvenile hurdler so we thought we'd give it a go. He'll go back to Paddy Brennan's, and we'll probably have him castrated, then we'll start jumping him to go for juvenile hurdles.”

Scott Lowther paid 30,000gns for the 3-year-old gelding That's Jet (Ire), who was offered by O'Sullivan Bloodstock. Lot 25 has placed once over hurdles, and his dam, Floating Along (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), is a half-sister to G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest winner King's Apostle (Ire) (King's Best) and G2 Lartigue Hurdle scorer Politicise (Ire) (Camelot {GB}).

“My trainer Daragh Bourke had watched a few of his races in Ireland and he'd come recommended from a couple of guys over there too. I'll look for a juvenile hurdle for him–we'll maybe aim him for Wetherby in October although he looks very well handicapped on the Flat as well I must admit.”

The progeny of Blue Point (Ire) have been in demand in the sales ring with his 35 first-crop winners anchored by four stakes winner, among them Big Evs (Ire), who will race in the G2 Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers S. on Friday. Lot 8, the filly Raknah (Ire), was bought by BBA Ireland for 25,000gns from Andrew Balding's Park House Stables. She has placed once in three runs, and is out of a full-sister to G3 Ballyroan S. hero Stellar Mass (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}).

The second Blue Point to sell was 15,000gns buy Desert Master (GB) (lot 35), who has hit the board five times in eight runs to date. From James Tate's Jamesfield Stables, the bay is out of the listed-placed Iffraaj (GB) mare Al Fareej (Ire) and caught the eye of Northgate Lodge Stud.

De Bruyne (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) (lot 34) was snapped up for 25,000gns to Gassim Ghazali from Ed Walker Racing. The gelding sports a win on the all-weather and is a grandson of Listed Sandy Lane S. winner Danehill Destiny (GB) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), who was also third twice at Group 3 level.
