Thady Gosden said, “Obviously it is the last mile-and-a-half 3-year-old race in Europe and unlike the Irish Oaks, it gives you time to come back for the [G1] Nassau at Goodwood [on Aug. 3].

“The Irish Oaks is a little too close to Goodwood if you wanted to take in both races, and we are looking forward to running her at Longchamp.

“Kieran partnered her on the Rowley Mile last week and was happy with her and she has done some routine work subsequently.”

At the latest entry stage, she will be opposed by the G1 Irish Derby second and fourth Adelaide River (Ire) (Australia {GB}) and Peking Opera (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) from the Aidan O'Brien yard, as well as Andre Fabre's First Minister (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) among others.

“He's going to be supplemented for the Abbaye, so he goes there next week,” McGuinness confirmed. “He came out of his race really well, he was bouncing and very happy. I think he's improved, it was his first time over five [furlongs] and I really am looking forward to a big run there [ParisLongchamp].

“People were telling me that he was a seven [furlong] horse and that he needed six [furlongs], but he showed me a lot of natural speed at home.

“That's why we decided to drop back to five, it was his first run ever over five. For a 3-year-old to run for the first time ever over five furlongs, taking on some of the best sprinters in training and to finish the way he finished, you couldn't complain.”

Depending on how the G3 Anglesey S. hero runs at ParisLongchamp, an overseas venture to Del Mar in November is not out of the question.

“We'll make plans after that, we'll see which way the Abbaye goes, but there is a possibility that if he ran well he might go to the Breeders' Cup,” he said. “Either way I do think he's definitely going to get better, he's an exciting horse to look forward to for the future.”

“I've entered him, he's running,” Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said. “I figure I'll use this as a prep for the Penn [$1-million GI Pennsylvania Derby, Sept. 25) and see how he likes this track.”

In his most recent work Monday, the dark bay covered five furlongs in :58.60, finishing on par with stablemate Ax Man for the fastest of 68 works at the distance and better than a half-second quicker than the next fastest move.

“He worked a little fast but he came out of it good,” Baffert said. “He's going to need the race, coming off a layoff, and he's got to go a mile. But, if I can run him here that will set him up to go on to the Pennsylvania Derby.”

Also scheduled to contest the Shared Belief is Rock Your World (Candy Ride {Arg}), who defeated Medina Spirit by four lengths in the Apr. 3 GI Runhappy Santa Anita Derby. Rock Your World, trained by John Sadler, subsequently finished 17th in the Kentucky Derby and sixth–beaten 22 lengths by Essential Quality–in the GI Belmont S. June 5.

“We’ve been happy with her since the Matron and this looks the next logical step,” said Murtagh. “We supplemented this morning. It’s going to be tough race–it’s a Group 1 they are always hard to win–but we’ve been happy with our filly since the Matron. Colin Keane is going to ride her again and we’re looking forward to it.

“For Mr. Yoshida to be involved in the yard is a big thing. He runs a huge operation and only buys the best. For her to be good enough for him is great, and it’s also great he’s going to leave her in training with us next year.

“The stable is going from strength to strength and we need those high-profile owners in our yard to elevate us to the next level.”

Out of consideration for the Sun Chariot is Dr. Ali Ridha’s Group 2 winner Powerful Breeze (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}), who was last seen in action when second in last October’s G1 Fillies’ Mile. The Hugo Palmer trainee has been out of action this year recovering from broken ribs.

“Unfortunately we’ve just run out of time with her,” said Palmer. “It was too big an ask to get her ready in that short space of time and we were just going to have to push too hard, which wouldn’t have been fair on her. Dr. Ali is very keen to keep her in training next year, so there was no point rushing when we’ve got time on our side.”
