Marion Francis has yet to enjoy the sweet taste of stakes success, but she hails from the barn of the top trainer in the country. The 3-year-old filly ships into Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Okla., and has been established as the 9-5 morning-line favorite in the $100,000 She's All In Stakes on the final night of the season, Friday, Dec. 17.

Brad Cox leads all trainers nationally with earnings of $30,932,681 this year. He has yet to win the She's All In Stakes.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Marion Francis has made $222,578 in 2021 and has lifetime earnings of $232,118 despite never winning in black-type company. Her record is 10 starts, three wins, three seconds, and three thirds.

A daughter of Constitution, out of the Two Punch mare Sophie's Destiny, has been stakes-placed twice. She ran third two races back in the $200,000 Plum Pretty Stakes at Parx Racing in Philadelphia on Sept. 25. Cox's filly also got third in the $150,000 Cathryn Sophia Stakes at Parx on Aug. 24. She broke her maiden at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., this spring on March 28 as the 6-5 favorite. Her margin of victory was 1-1/4 lengths.

Marion Francis picked up her next win at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. against allowance/optional $75,000 claiming fillies. She won that one by three-quarters of a length on May 28 over a wet fast track. She will be entering the She's All In off her third win, beating optional $100,000 claiming fillies under allowance conditions, at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky., by a mere neck on Oct. 21. She's been off almost two months since then but has a series of works to prep for this comeback, three of them at Keeneland and her last on Dec. 5 at Oaklawn where she breezed in :48.40 for a half-mile.

Jockey Florent Geroux has been in the saddle for all three Marion Francis wins and all 10 of her starts. Cox will once again give him a leg up in the She's All In. Marion Francis is owned by Madaket Stables, Kent Spellman, and Wonder Stables. She was bred in Pennsylvania by Blackstone Farm. This filly was last purchased for $150,000 in the Ocala (Fla.) Breeders' Spring Sale for 2-year-olds in Training in 2020.

Marion Francis was made the slight favorite over Casual (2-1) from the barn of the nation's second-leading trainer and the all-time winningest conditioner in history, Steve Asmussen. Casual also is a multiple stakes-placed filly and ran fourth in the 2020 She's All In. Asmussen, who is second behind Cox in a heated battle for top-earning trainer this year at $30,523,870, has won the She's All in twice and will be going for his third victory in the past four years. He won with Magical in 2019 and Clever Serve in 2018. Ricardo Santana, Jr., booted home the 2019 winner while David Cabrera, the track's leading rider the past four years, 2018-2021, was aboard Clever Serve. This year, Asmussen will use the riding services of Jose Ortiz, who is fourth in the country among jockeys in money earned ($23,721,025). He trails only Joel Rosario in first, followed by Jose's brother Irad, and Luis Saez.

Casual is owned by Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings (J.G. Sikura), Stretch Run Ventures (Ed McGee), and Windsor Boys Racing (Faheem Hasnain). The 4-year-old daughter of two-time Horse of the Year, Curlin, is out of the Mutakddim mare Lady Tak. She was bred in Kentucky by the first two owners. She may not yet be a stakes winner, but she has finished second or third in six of her last seven tries against stakes company.

Casual ran second in Oaklawn's $200,000 Spring Fever Stakes on Feb. 27 and third in the Carousel Stakes on April 10, followed by a runner-up finish in the $100,000 Skipat Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md., on May 15. She continued her run with a third in the $120,000 Shine Again Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Asmussen decided to jump her up into the Grade 1 Ballerina Handicap there, where she ran seventh, beaten 11 lengths by champion Gamine on Aug. 28. Her next stop came here at Remington Park where she finished second to Cinnabunny in the $50,000 Flashy Lady Stakes on Sept. 26.

Casual was shipped out to Zia Park in Hobbs, New Mexico for her final start before the She's All In. She was a distant second in the $75,000 Zia Distaff there, beaten 5 3/4 lengths on Nov. 23.

The filly carrying the local flag in the She's All In will appropriately be She's All Wolfe, a 4-year-old daughter of the mare whose name is on this stakes race. She's All Wolfe, by Magna Graduate, was bred in Oklahoma by owner Dr. Robert Zoellner. All this filly has done for Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Famer trainer Donnie Von Hemel is win five of her eight starts at Remington on the main track. She is the 6-1 fourth favorite in the morning line.

She's All Wolfe is the lone Oklahoma-bred in the She's All In and leads in career victories and earnings. The 4-year-old's record is 20 starts, seven wins, five seconds, and a pair of thirds for a bankroll of $390,761. Her wins at Remington Park include the $30,000 Oklahoma Stallion Stakes for fillies on Sept. 11, 2020, and the $145,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff last year and this year. Richard Eramia gets the return call on She's All Wolfe. Von Hemel has won the She's All In once since its inception in 2014. He sent out Ready to Confess for Pin Oak Stable in 2017.

She's All In reached millionaire status during her racing career, as well as being dominant in the Oklahoma Classics, winning the Distaff in four consecutive years from 2010-2013.

For the first time since 2017, there is a Silver Goblin Stakes winner not named Welder and it is Fast Breakin Cash at 9-1 odds Friday night at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Okla.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Welder won the race four times from 2017-2020 for Ra-Max Farms (Clayton Rash) of Claremore, Okla., and is now retired, getting fed peppermints by trainer Teri Luneack. The stakes races he won regularly for years at Remington Park now continue without him. It was far from the odds-on favoritism Welder garnered as the all-time winningest horse (16 wins) at Remington Park in the winner's circle. One has to go all the way back to Okie Ride in 2016 for a different winner.

Fast Breakin Cash had not won a race, any race, since Nov. 7, 2019, and had never won a stakes race in his career. In contrast, Welder holds the record at Remington Park with 11 stakes victories in his career.

It was almost like the favorites in this $70,000 Silver Goblin Stakes race didn't know how to act without Welder to chase. The top three favorites in the field ran last, next-to-last and second-to-last in this year's edition. Shannon C, the beaten wagering favorite at 8-5 odds, who had run second to Welder four times in his career, was expected to take the crown Friday after winning two stakes in a row. However, he faltered after a half mile and ran last, beaten 15-1/2 lengths. Quality Rocket (2-1) and Mesa Moon (5-2) finished fourth and fifth.

With the favorites falling to the wayside, it opened the door for Fast Breakin Cash to taste the glory of a black-type win for the first time. Jockey Richard Eramia was well back in fifth down the backstretch, leisurely letting the front-runners set fractions of :22.14 for the first quarter-mile and :45.33 for the half-mile. By the time the pacesetters began to collapse at the top of the stretch, Fast Breakin Cash, trained by C.R. Trout, pounced. He was within a 3-1/4 lengths by the time he hit the turn for home and had all the momentum. At the finish line, he was in front by three-quarters of a length, outlasting runner-up Euromantic (6-1), who was another three-quarters up on third-place Tommyhawk (32-1), the longest shot on the board. Fast Breakin Cash hit the line for 6-1/2 furlongs in 1:17.88 over a fast track.

“It was a beautiful trip,” said Eramia. “I knew exactly what I wanted to do before the race. Make one run at the end. He wanted to win so bad.”

Trout also owns and bred Fast Breakin Cash. He won two of the three stakes races on the Friday card, also taking the $75,000 Slide Show for 2-year-old fillies that were Oklahoma-foaled with Hits Pricey Legacy.

It was the first victory in the Silver Goblin Stakes for all the connections. Fast Breakin Cash, a 5-year-old gelded son of Yes It's True, out of the Forestry mare Fast N Fine Lookin, earned $42,000 for Trout and improved his record to 22 starts, four wins, six seconds and two thirds for $265,293 earned. His best stakes effort at Remington Park before Friday night may have been a runner-up finish by one length to Dont Tell Noobody in last year's $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup on Oct. 16.

Fast Breakin Cash rewarded his backers with $20.60 to win, $8.60 to place, and $5.60 to show. Euromantic paid $6.60 to place and $4.80 to show. Tommyhawk paid $6.20 to show.

The Silver Goblin Stakes is named after the gray Oklahoma-bred millionaire who won multiple stakes races at Remington Park and numerous graded stakes events around the nation, in a career spanning 1993-1999.

Remington Park racing concludes this week with a Saturday night card of nine races. First post time is 7:07 pm Central.

Remington Park's three-time defending riding champion David Cabrera continues to reign dominantly at this Oklahoma City, Okla., track, winning four of the nine races on Saturday night.

Cabrera padded his lead in this year's standings to 25 wins to Stewart Elliott's 14. His four wins Saturday came with four different trainers – Karl Broberg, Ron Moquett, Austin Gustafson, and Danny Pish. Cabrera took both halves of the early Daily Double with Broberg-trained Tiz Showbiz (6-1 odds, $14.40 to win) in the first race and with Moquett's Pure Courage (8-5, $5.40) in the second. The $2 Daily Double paid $65. Cabrera rode Gustafson's first-time starter Steels All In (3-1, $8), hitting the line first in race five, as he did with Pish's Give It Everything (6-5, $4.60) in the eighth.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

If that's not enough to solidify his riding prowess to fans, Cabrera, with all eight of his mounts Saturday, ran either first or second. The only race he didn't run first or second was the seventh race and he didn't have a mount in that race. He finished as the runner-up in the third, fourth, sixth, and ninth races.

It would have been five wins Saturday had Cabrera not been caught by a nose in the sixth race aboard Dont Float the Ice. Cabrera's mount had the lead the entire race except at the wire.

Cabrera, with his 25 victories, leads Elliott in second, 14; Leandro Goncalves, 12; Richard Eramia, 11; and Alfredo Triana, Jr. rounding out the top five. Elliott did his best to keep pace, winning two races on the Saturday program.

The trainers' race also is a tight one this meet with perennial winner Steve Asmussen scoring 11 wins thus far, followed by Broberg and Kari Craddock tied for second with eight each. Scott Young has seven and then tied for fifth are Danny Pish and Austin Gustafson with six victories each.

With more stakes wins than any other North American jockey, Richard Eramia was voted Jockey of the Week for Oct. 12 through Oct. 18. The award, which is voted on by a panel of racing industry experts, is for jockeys who are members of the Jockeys' Guild, the organization which represents more than 950 active riders in the United States as well as retired and permanently disabled jockeys.

With mounts in eight of the ten stakes races on Oklahoma Classics Night for top Oklahoma-breds in divisional stakes competition, Eramia made four trips to the winner's circle. All four of his stakes wins were for different trainers.

He won three stakes in a row starting with Number One Dude for trainer Kari Craddock in the Oklahoma Classics Juvenile. Number One Dude set the pace early in the six-furlong sprint and prevailed by a length. For trainer Donnie Von Hemel. Eramia had the mount on She's All Wolfe who rallied from off the pace and hooked up with Lady Orchid over the final yards, with the two bobbing heads to the finish. Trainer Kenny Smith called on Eramia to ride Three Chords in the Oklahoma Classics Sprint and blew away the competition by 5-1/4 lengths going six furlongs. Eramia capped the evening by winning the Oklahoma Classics Starter Stakes under Rockport Kat for trainer Theresa Luneack.

A native of Uruguay, Eramia began his riding career there and also rode in Argentina and Brazil before coming to the U.S. in 2005. He earned his first graded stakes win in 2012 aboard Gantry in the Grade II Smile Sprint Handicap. In 2019, he won the Grade III Super Derby with Rotation for trainer Steve Asmussen and last month, he won the Grade III Oklahoma Derby with Shared Sense for trainer Brad Cox.

Eramia's weekly stats were 29-6-6-3 for a 21% win percentage and 52% in-the-money percentage and total purse earnings of $326,693.

Eramia out-polled fellow jockeys David Cabrera who won two stakes at Remington, Kyle Frey, the week's leading rider by wins, Manuel Franco who won two graded stakes at Keeneland and Rafael Manuel Hernandez who won the Grade I E.P. Taylor at Woodbine.

Into August, Godolphin's Racing operation and trainer Brad Cox had considered running Shared Sense in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby. When they opted out, the G3 Oklahoma Derby was chosen as the next stop for him and on Sunday, he came through for those connections at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Godolphin's top option for the Kentucky Derby for most of the year was a horse named Maxfield. When he left the Derby trail with an injury, Shared Sense became a possibility for the run for the roses the first Saturday of this month. He was a late bloomer, however, winning his first stakes race on July 8 when he took down the G3, $300,000 Indiana Derby at Indiana Grand. While he earned 20 points to qualify for the Kentucky Derby field, he would have had to be supplemented for $45,000 if they wanted to take on Tiz the Law and Authentic. The connections opted to keep him on a different route and that's when he came to Remington Park.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=291 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid= data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

“We just didn't feel like he had the turn of foot coming out of the gate that you need to be in position to run against horses like those in the Kentucky Derby,” said Blake Cox, who represented his dad, Brad Cox, at Remington Park. “We always thought he was a nice horse, but he still needed to learn some things.”

A perfect example of Shared Sense's lack of a turn of foot came after he won the Indiana Derby and was entered back in the $200,000 Ellis Park Derby on Aug. 9. If a horse doesn't have the temerity to get position out of the gate as Cox mentioned, it can be an even tougher task to beat this class of horse from the outside 12-post position. That's what he drew for the Ellis Park Derby and he left the starting gate dead last. He was behind the field down the backstretch of that race and did close, but could do no better than fifth.

That's when Blake Cox said his father, Brad, talked to Godolphin representatives and they opted out of Kentucky for Oklahoma to give him more experience.

Brad Cox, the second-leading trainer in the country behind Remington Park leading trainer Steve Asmussen, has stable earnings of more than $11 million this year. Cox became the first trainer to win the Oklahoma Derby in back-to-back years, having also scored in the 2019 edition with Owendale.

Shared Sense, a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred colt by Street Sense out of the Bernardini mare Collective, was made the betting favorite at 9-5 odds, and pulled away deep in the stretch for a two-length victory over Mo Mosa (5-1) in second. Lightly raced Liam, making his first start against winners, and first stakes try, ran third at 26-1, another 2 1/2 lengths back.

A pair of horses with plenty of action on the tote board that didn't live up to the backing were Oklahoma-bred Rowdy Yates (5-1) in sixth and Dean Martini (4-1) in seventh. Rowdy Yates was trying to become only the third Oklahoma-bred to win this race but didn't have any rally into the stretch. Dean Martini pressed the pace into the stretch but backed up over the final furlong.

Jockey Richard Eramia took comfortable rein on Shared Sense down the backstretch of the 1 1/8-mile race on the main track, sitting fifth.

“I had a little hold on him and he was relaxed behind horses,” said Eramia. “I knew I had a lot of horse left and the best horse in the race.”

Eramia and Shared Sense put a head in front at the top of the lane before drawing off from their competition.

Shared Sense hit the finish line in 1:49.88 over the fast surface. The final time was well off the stakes and track record, set in 1998 by Classic Cat in 1:48. Shared Sense chased fractions set by Liam of :24.11 for the first quarter-mile, :48.96 for the half-mile, 1:13.75 for three-quarters of mile, and 1:38.14 for the mile.

Shared Sense earned $120,000 for the win, his fourth from 10 starts to go along with two seconds while boosting his overall bankroll to $447,745 lifetime. He was bred in Kentucky by the owner. Shared Sense was not the top money earner in this nine-horse field, going in, but he was coming out, proving he is learning his craft.

The complete order of finish in the Oklahoma Derby was Shared Sense, Mo Mosa, Liam, Avant Garde, Salow, Rowdy Yates, Dean Martini, Code Runner and Creative Plan.

Remington Park racing continues into a new month with a Thursday-Saturday schedule on Oct 1-3. The first race nightly is at 7:07pm-Central.
