Sadly lost to the breeding world at just nine, the G1 Phoenix S.-winning sire had begun to excel from small numbers before his untimely demise and it could be that this year's crop serves as a statement of what might have been. Sent off at 15-2 for the six-furlong Prix Hunyade for unraced 2-year-old colts and geldings, Breizh Sky who races for Louis Baudron and his trainers Alessandro and Giuseppe Botti was quickly at the head of affairs with Simon Planque unable to contain his enthusiasm. Helped by the turning track, the bay who was unsold at €14,000 at the last year's Arqana Deauville v2 Yearling Sale settled before the home straight and opened up from there to register a penultimate split of 11.31 and inflict the heavy defeat on Purple Rain (Fr) (Harry Angel {Ire}), with Clifton Down (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) two lengths further away in third.

As his name suggests, Breizh Sky descends from Danse Bretonne (Fr) (Exit To Nowhere) who was a half-sister to the dual group 3-winning sire Kaldounevees (Fr) (Kaldoun {Fr}) who was also runner-up in the GI Man o' War S. and G1 Bayerisches Zuchtrennen. Her staying daughter Varevees (GB) (Kahyasi {Ire}) was successful in the G3 Prix Gladiateur and second in the G1 Prix du Cadran, while she is also the second dam of the Listed Prix Maurice Caillault winner Speedo Boy (Fr) (Vision d'Etat {Fr}), Saturday's German listed scorer Toskana Belle (Fr) (Shamalgan {Fr}) and the dual listed-placed Frohsim (Fr) (Dabirsim {Fr}).
