He enjoyed a notable success at the two-day Breeders' Cup World Championships, with three winners in a single year, the first sire to reach that mark in the 37-year history of the Breeders' Cup. The GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf went to Modern Games (Ire), Saturday's GI Breeders' Cup Mile was won by new Kildangan Stud resident Space Blues (Ire) and Dubawi's trio was rounded out by the victory of Yibir (GB) in the GI Breeders' Cup Turf. In addition, Dubawi is the world's leading sire of group winners with 23 and stakes winners at 37.

A trio of new stallions will join the Darley Europe roster in 2022, with Palace Pier (GB) (Kingman {GB}) leading the way at £55,000 at Dalham Hall. One of the most brilliant milers seen in recent years with five Group 1 victories to his name, the son of Kingman won the G1 St. James's Palace S. at Royal Ascot in 2020 and later scored a victory in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois. Kept in training in 2021, he added another trio of top-flight races-the G1 Lockinge S. at Sandown, Royal Ascot's G1 Queen Anne S. and a second edition of the Marois. The ultra-consistent bay retires with nine wins in 11 starts and $2,408,980 in earnings, rounded out by a neck second in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. on QIPCO British Champions Day.

Making his debut at Kildangan Stud is Space Blues, fresh off his Breeders' Cup Mile win. Priced at €17,500, the son of Miss Lucifer (Fr) (Noverre) captured the G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest in 2020 and also added the G1 Prix de la Foret prior to his Mile tally. He retires with a mark of 19-11-3-1 and $2,585,725 in earnings.

Undefeated as a juvenile including in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, Victor Ludorum (GB) (Shamardal) progressed to take the G1 French 2000 Guineas at three. Out of Antiquities (GB) (Kaldounevees {Fr}), his fee will be €15,000 at Haras du Logis. He also took the G3 Prix Messidor as a 4-year-old and brings a mark of 14-5-0-5 and $864,838 to stud.

Dubawi's son Night of Thunder (Ire) sired a pair of Group 1 winners in 2021 and he will command €75,000, tops of the Kildangan Stud roster. Thundering Nights (Ire) won the GI Pretty Polly S., while Kukeracha (NZ) was in action Down Under in the G1 Queensland Derby. They are two of 12 2021 black-type winners for their sire, who also sired four other group winners this year, among them Suesa (Ire) and GIII Athenia S. winner Pocket Square (GB).

Standing at £45,000 in 2022 is Too Darn Hot (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) at Dalham Hall. Flawless in a juvenile campaign that culminated in a victory in the G1 Dewhurst S., the bay backed up that form with another pair of Group 1 wins as a 3-year-old in the G1 Prix Jean Prat and G1 Sussex S. The son of Dar Re Mi (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) was also Classic placed with a runner-up performance in the G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas.

Esteemed sprinter Blue Point (Ire) (Shamardal) will stand for €40,000 at Kildangan. A dual winner of the G1 King's Stand S., the bay also won the G1 Diamond Jubilee and G1 Al Quoz Sprint. Both Too Darn Hot and Blue Point will have their first yearlings in 2022.

Three-time Group 1 winner Pinatubo (Ire) (Shamardal) is expecting is first foals in 2022, and will stand for £35,000 at Dalham Hall. Also welcoming their first progeny in 2022 are the Kildangan duo of Ghaiyyath (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) at €25,000, a four-time top-level hero, and Earthlight (Ire) (Shamardal) at €18,000. The latter landed a pair of juvenile Group 1s in 2019-the Prix Morny and the Middle Park S.

Two stallions that celebrated black-type success with their first runners this season were Profitable (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and Ribchester (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}). The Kildangan residents will each stand for €12,500. The only stallion to receive a fee increase across the entire roster, Profitable sired 25 winners this year so far, and already has a group winner with G2 Queen Mary S. victress Quick Suzy (Ire). Ribchester has Listed Doncaster S. winner Flaming Rib (Ire) to date.

Dalham stalwarts and Group 1 sires New Approach (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Iffraaj (GB) (Zafonic) are listed as private and £17,500, respectively. In Ireland, fellow Group 1 sire Teofilo (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will command €30,000. See below for the full 2022 Darley Europe roster.

They are joined by Ghanaati's Rahy half-sister, the stakes winner and G1 Oaks third Rumoush, who already has foaled a trio of black-type scorers; two-time Grade 2 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Nafaayes (Aus) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}); and the stakes-placed Asheerah (GB) (Shamardal), the dam of Classic hero and young stallion Awtaad (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}).

Eqtidaar (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) landed his best prize in Royal Ascot's G1 Commonwealth Cup and his first foals are hitting the ground this season. Shadwell is sending him the stakes-placed Tamadhor (Ire) (Arcano {Ire}) from the family of G2 Cherry Hinton S. victress Memory (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}). Mudaaraah (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}), who struck at listed level, placed in the G3 Prestige S. and is out of a half-sister to outstanding European highweight Bahri (Riverman), will be bred to Tasleet (GB) (Showcasing {GB}). The three-time Group 1 runner-up's first foals are yearlings of 2021. Rounding out the quartet of Nunnery Stud stallions, champion sprinter Muhaarar (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) is the beau of choice for stakes winner Etaab (Street Cry {Ire})-also from the family of Bahri–and is just one of several mares headed to the sire of nine black-type performers.

Other Group 1 winners and producers from Shadwell's paddocks will go farther afield for their mates. G1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Tawkeel (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}) and Ghanaati's daughter Alandalos (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) are both headed to Darley sire Dubawi (Ire). A quintet of Shadwell mares will visit Juddmonte's Kingman (GB) at Banstead Manor Stud, with the recently retired five-time Group 2 winner and G1 Royallieu third Enbihaar (Ire) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}) leading the way. The other four mares are rounded out by G3 Sweet Solera S. heroine Tajaanus (Ire) (Arcano {Ire}); multiple group winner Tantheem (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}); G2 Blandford S. scorer Tarfasha (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}); and Nazeef's dam Handassa (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}).

Kingman's barnmate Frankel (GB) will also be patronised by some Shadwell mares including Tatweej (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), herself a half-sister to champion 3-year-old Palace Pier (GB) (Kingman {GB}); and Group 3 producer Rayaheen (GB) (Nayef), a daughter of G1 1000 Guineas heroine Natagora (Fr) (Divine Light {Jpn}).

A mare bound for the court of Sea The Stars (Ire) is Garmoosha (Kingmambo). A daughter of Oaks winner Eswarah (GB) (Unfuwain), she has already produced the highly progressive Group 3 winner Raabihah to the cover of the Gilltown Stud-based stallion. The other five mares to also visit Sea The Stars, include the Awtaad's half-sister Alghabrah (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}), listed winner Maqsad (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), and Tamayuz's half-sisters–Ettisaal (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and Muhawalah (Ire) (Nayef). Mubhirah (GB) (Raven's Pass), a half-sister to Classic heroine Taghrooda, will also visit the Aga Khan stallion.

Dark Angel (Ire) will once again welcome G1 Cheveley Park S. third Maqaasid (GB) (Green Desert), who already has a juvenile colt and yearling filly by the son of Acclamation (GB).

In Ireland, Derrinstown Stud residents Tamayuz (GB) (Nayef), Awtaad, and incoming sire King of Change (GB) (Farhh {GB}) are also being supported by Sheikh Hamdan's broodmare band. Roster veteran Tamayuz welcomes Safwa (Ire) (Green Desert), who has already produced G1 Lockinge S. winner Mustashry (GB) (Tamayuz {GB}) on this same mating and the group-placed Munaaser (GB) (New Approach {Ire}), as well as her daughter Rabaabah (Ire) (Shamardal). Tamayuz, the sire of 22 black-type winners, will also cover G1 Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Bethrah (Ire) (Marju {Ire}) and the stakes producer Masaafat (GB) (Act One {GB}), both of whom visited the 16-year-old last term.

Awtaad, the winner of the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas and whose oldest foals are 3-year-olds, will cover Group 3 winner Rawaaq (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}). King of Change, the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. hero and G1 2000 Guineas runner-up, will be sent the winning Qaadira (Mr. Greeley), who hails from the extended family of prolific blue hen Height of Fashion (Fr) (Bustino {GB}).

Leading the overall roster is veteran Dubawi (Ire) (Dubai Millennium {GB}), who will stand for £250,000 at Dalham Hall Stud. The sire of four Group 1 winners this year along, including the brilliant MG1SW Ghaiyyath, his progeny have struck an additional 17 times at black-type level in 2020.

Outstanding juvenile Pinatubo’s fee is £35,000 at Dalham Hall. Rated the best juvenile in Europe in the past 25 years, the 2019 English/Irish highweight’s undefeated 2-year-old season included victories in the G1 National S., and G1 Dewhurst S. At three, he added the G1 Prix Jean Prat, ran second in the G1 Prix du Moulin and G1 St. James’s Palace S. and was Classic placed with a third in the G1 2000 Guineas.

The aforementioned Ghaiyyath is priced at €30,000 at Kildangan Stud in Ireland. The four-time Group 1 winner struck three times at the highest level this term, collecting scintillating victories in the G1 Coronation Cup, G1 Eclipse S., and the G1 Juddmonte International. French champion juvenile Earthlight will also hold court at Kildangan. Undefeated at two, the 2019 G1 Prix Morny and G1 Middle Park S. hero’s fee has been set at €20,000.

Kildangan veteran Teofilo (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) has enjoyed a successful year at stud, his 12 stakes winners featuring six Group 1 winners alone ranging from G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud victor Gear Up (Ire), to G1 Prix Royal Oak hero Subjectivist (GB) and G1 Melbourne Cup winner Twilight Payment (Ire). He is priced at €30,000.

Expecting his first foals in 2021, MG1SW Too Darn Hot (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) will command £45,000 at Dalham Hall, while the veteran Group 1 sire New Approach (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) is listed as private. Also at Dalham Hall, both Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}), whose oldest foals are 3-year-olds this term and former shuttle stallion Iffraaj (GB) (Zafonic) are both at £20,000. Champion Cracksman (GB) (Frankel {GB}) will have yearlings of 2021 and is priced at £17,500.

Rounding out the Dalham Hall roster are Farhh (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) at a private fee, G1 Derby winner Masar (Ire) (New Approach {Ire}) at £14,000, Harry Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) at £12,500, Territories (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), the sire of two black-type winners in his first crop, is at £10,000, Postponed (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) is at £7,500 and both Charming Thought (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) and Outstrip (GB) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}) are valued at £4,000.

MG1SW Blue Point (Ire) (Shamardal), who covered his first book of mares this spring, will stand for €40,000 alongside fellow Kildangan resident and top miler Ribchester (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) at €17,500. For €10,000 apiece, breeders can access Belardo (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire})-already the sire of three stakes winners in his first crop–and Profitable (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), while roster veteran Raven’s Pass (Elusive Quality) is €7,500 and Buratino (Ire) (Exceed And Excel {Aus})’s fee has been set at €5,000. Exceed and Excel (Aus) (Danehill) will not be shuttling from his Australian base in 2021.

In France, a quartet of stallions are standing at Haras du Logis. Cloth of Stars (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) who has his first yearlings next year, is at €7,000, while Ultra (Ire) (Manduro {Ger}), set for his first runners in 2021, is €5,000. The pair of Bow Creek (Ire) (Shamardal) and Hunter’s Light (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) will both command €4,000. The former has first 3-year-olds and the latter has first 4-year-olds next year.

“Master Of The Seas is having a break,” said Appleby. “We have one eye on the [Sept. 13] National S.–which he would need supplementing for, if we decide to go for that. He also has a pedigree which suggests stepping up in trip will suit him as well, and there are races like the [Oct. 4] Lagardere and Vertem Futurity Trophy [on Oct. 24] we can look at later on.

“He’s very much an autumn-campaign horse, and that is what we have always had on our minds. He has surpassed what we expected him to do pre-autumn. He was a good winner of the Superlative, and the form has been boosted with Richard Hannon’s horse [Ventura Tormenta (Ire) (Acclamation {GB})] winning the [G2 Prix] Robert Papin. The second half of the season is where you will see him towards his best.”

Appleby also had an update on 2019 champion juvenile Pinatubo (Ire) (Shamardal), who returned to the winner’s circle in the July 12 G1 Prix Jean Prat.

“It’s either going to be the [Sept. 6 G1 Prix du] Moulin or the [Oct. 4 G1 Prix de la] Foret–they are the autumn goals we are looking at for him,” said Appleby. “We have one eye on working back from the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile. If he is going to get it [a mile], the chances are it will be there. We might be tempted to try him back over it in the Moulin, though. He is having a break now–which he deserves, having had three quickish runs.”

Another Appleby/Godolphin runner is the gelding Volkan Star (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), who won the G3 Prix du Lys when last seen on July 14.

“He has come out of the race well, and we might take a look at the [Aug. 19] G2 Great Voltigeur for him-or possibly go back to France,” added the trainer. “We gelded him from two to three for a reason, and you could see from his last run he is developing mentally and going the right way.”

“We haven’t totally decided yet,” said trainer Andre Fabre. “He could go to Goodwood, but if not he will go for the G1 Maurice de Gheest [on Aug. 9]. He’s very fast and looks a real sprinter, but I’m convinced that he can go further. “I never lost faith in Pinatubo and Sheikh Mohammed gave us a lot of confidence this week, saying if we were happy then to go again, it’s no problem,” Charlie Appleby said. “He delivered this time. When you have been champion 2-year-old, to get beaten in the Guineas is hard to take and then he had the stiff mile at Ascot, but I wouldn’t take anything away from the horses that beat us on both occasions, they are good horses. We are proud of him and will probably give him a little rest now and talk to Sheikh Mohammed. He was a little far back early, but was travelling as nicely as you’d hope in such a top race and he has that turn of foot and kick. When he found the gap, he went through it very nicely.”

Very few juveniles are capable of turning it on as Pinatubo had in the G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien National S. at The Curragh in September and after he had confirmed his status as generation kingpin in the G1 Dewhurst S. the following month at Newmarket the world was his oyster. Whether the month’s delay to the 2000 Guineas cost such a set and mature colt will never be known, but when the die was re-cast at Royal Ascot a fortnight later he had reversed the form of that June 6 Classic with the runner-up Wichita (Ire) (No Nay Never) only to find Palace Pier (GB) (Kingman {GB}) too strong at the finish.

Just as Too Darn Hot (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) had done last year, Pinatubo almost had to win here and he had every excuse for failing to come through. Bumped and hassled by Kenway (Fr) (Galiway {GB}) in the early stages as Buick sought to get some daylight, he was helped by the strong tempo set by his stablemate Well of Wisdom (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) who has class in his own right and looks the perfect pacemaker from here on. Working between rivals to subdue Wooded (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) approaching the last furlong, he had only Lope Y Fernandez to concern him from there with last week’s G1 Prix du Jockey Club-winning jockey Ioritz Mendizabal getting a real tune out of the colt who had been behind Pinatubo when second in the Listed Chesham S. and third in the G2 Vintage S. last term.

Appleby is still learning about his stable star and said, “This is what we saw from Pinatubo as a two-year-old. He travels and then has that electric turn of foot. William said that he was sat last at halfway with not a lot of room but, before he knew it, he was up there on the bridle again. We have always felt that Pinatubo is a very courageous horse. Going back to a mile is something that we need to talk about. He does travel extremely well and has that acceleration. He is going to be one of those milers that you are going to have to ride with so much confidence and just hope that you get there.”

Lope Y Fernandez’s rider said, “We had a very good trip and he’s a nice horse who was just beaten by a superior one on the day, so I have no excuses really. I just feel that on softer ground, he’d be better.” Wooded’s trainer Francis-Henri Graffard said of the eventual fourth, “At the two pole, he was travelling so nicely I was hoping but it is obvious to me now that he doesn’t stay seven. He has run a great race.”

Pinatubo’s dam Lava Flow (Ire) (Dalakhani {Ire}), a half-sister to the G1 Gran Criterium runner-up Strobilus (GB) (Mark of Esteem {Ire}), was able to win the 11-furlong Listed Prix de la Seine so it is probable that like Too Darn Hot he is not conforming to his pedigree. The second dam Mount Elbrus (GB) (Barathea {Ire}) also scored at listed level at 10 1/2 furlongs and is out of a half-sister to the G1 Prix de Diane heroine and outstanding producer Rafha (GB) (Kris {GB}).

Earthlight, who reappears in the six-furlong Listed Qatar Prix Kistena, can be seen in an even better light having beaten Golden Horde (Ire) (Lethal Force {Ire}) in Newmarket’s

G1 Middle Park S. in September. He had that rival back in third when taking the G1 Prix Morny here in August and remains one of his generation’s leaders. “Earthlight is in excellent form according to his trainer,” Godolphin’s Lisa-Jane Graffard commented. “He came through a very pleasing racecourse gallop well and it appears to have put him back in the zone both mentally and physically. In saying that, he is a laid-back horse with a stocky frame who hasn’t run for 10 months. This race is the perfect spot for him to start off his season.”

If Pinatubo fails to fire, the Prix Jean Prat is up for grabs and Shadwell’s Molatham (GB) (Night of Thunder {Ire}) proved he was a colt on the up with his success in the G3 Jersey S. over this trip at Royal  Ascot June 18. Angus Gold, racing manager to Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, said, “He’s a horse we’re just getting to know–what we don’t know is what his optimum trip is going to be. Seven furlongs is well within his capabilities. We’re thinking possibly the [G1 Prix] Maurice de Gheest over six and a half furlongs in August at Deauville if he seems to have the speed. We’ll just see on Sunday if he has the speed to win a group one over a shorter trip or do we need to go up to a mile with him.”

Ryan Moore has opted for last year’s G1 Dewhurst S. runner-up Arizona (Ire) (No Nay Never) over the other Ballydoyle runner Lope Y Fernandez (Ire)  (Lope de Vega {Ire}) despite two below-par efforts this term. Andre Fabre drops both Alson (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) and Tropbeau (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) back from a mile following their efforts in the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains and Pouliches respectively. Alson was third in his June 1 Classic here and it may be that Corinna Baronin Von Ullmann’s free-going homebred is more comfortable at this distance over which he registered a 20-length defeat of his sole rival Armory (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G1 Criterium International at ParisLongchamp in October.

Tropbeau beat the subsequent Pouliches heroine Dream and Do (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}) in the G3 Prix de la Grotte over a mile at ParisLongchamp May 11, but Lady Bamford’s G3 Prix Six Perfections and G2 Prix du Calvados winner was disappointing when only fourth in the main event. Freshened up since, she has the sex allowance taking on the colts while TDN Rising Star Kinross (GB) (Kingman {GB}) is another to have benefitted from a break having been sixth in the 2000 Guineas.

“His work has been good since the Guineas and it is the last really big chance he has to run against his own age group at this level,” trainer Ralph Beckett explained. “In terms of experience, he looked like a boy against men in the 2000 Guineas, but he had a stop-start prep going to the race. He had blip in January and one at the start of April, so we didn’t have proper run at the Guineas and we have had a proper run since. Coming back in trip doesn’t worry me, as he has got plenty of boot but he will need it on Sunday.”

In Hamburg’s G1 IDEE 151st Deutsches Derby, all eyes will be on Stall Wasserfreunde’s Wonderful Moon (Ger) (Sea the Moon {Ger}) as he bids to emulate his sire’s success in this Classic. He holds Dr. Christoph Berglar’s Grocer Jack (Ger) (Oasis Dream {GB}) on the form of his successes in the May 8 G3 Cologne Classic and the G2 Union-Rennen also at Cologne June 14 and it could be that he has yet to reach a peak in 2020. His 12-length win in Krefeld’s G3 Herzog von Ratibor-Rennen in November is still the standard and this is his acid test. Karin Brieskorn and Stall Salzburg’s impressive Listed Brummerhof-Derby Trial winner Kellahen (Ger) (Wiesenpfad {Fr}) warrants respect, such was the manner of his performance in that 11-furlong prep at Hanover June 28, while another live contender should Wonderful Moon flop is his stablemate Dicaprio (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}). Christoph Holschbach and Thomas Krauth’s half-brother to last year’s Derby runner-up Django Freeman (Ger) (Campanologist) looked seven-length winner of Munich’s 11-furlong Listed Derby Trial June 15.

Also at Hamburg, the G3 Sparkasse Holstein-Cup sees Stall Raffelberg’s June 21 G2 German 1000 Guineas heroine Lancade (GB) (Areion {Ger}) take on the older fillies and mares. The form of her Dusseldorf Classic success was boosted this week by Rose of Kildare (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}) and she will pose a threat to Godolphin’s June 15 Listed Prix Urban Sea winner Half Light (Ire) (Shamardal) and Team Valor’s June 7 Listed Pool & The Gang Cup scorer Go Rose (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}).

Back at Deauville, there is further Godolphin interest in the six-furlong G3 Qatar Prix de Ris-Orangis with Royal Crusade (GB) (Shamardal) looking to build on a highly encouraging return sixth in the G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot June 19. Runner-up in the G2 Champagne S. over a furlong further at Doncaster in September, the well-regarded homebred meets the older sprinters including the impressive May 31 G2 Prix du Gros-Chene scorer Tour To Paris (Fr) (Fuisse {Fr}). “We were pleased with Royal Crusade’s effort in the Commonwealth Cup and he looks to have come forward physically for his first run of the year,” Charlie Appleby said. “He is taking on older opposition but we are hopeful that he can become one of our nice sprinters for the future.”

Deauville’s fixture also sees Alexander Tamagni-Bodmer & Regula Vannod’s 2019 G1 Coronation S. heroine Watch Me (GB) (Olympic Glory {Ire}) make her seasonal bow in the Listed Qatar Prix de la Calonne over a mile, while Dundalk stages the belated G3 Woodford Reserve Ballysax S. in which Monarch of Egypt (American Pharoah) takes a step up to 10 furlongs. Having pushed Molatham (GB) (Night of Thunder {Ire}) to the line when runner-up in the seven-furlong Jersey at the Royal meeting, Peter Brant and Coolmore’s TDN Rising Star has stamina to prove.

Capannelle in Rome hosts the weekend’s most valuable race, the €704,000 G3 Derby Italiano, as part of a six stakes card. The locally trained Cima Emergency (Ire) (Canford Cliffs {Ire}) is the highest-rated runner and merits respect off a last-out victory in the G3 Premio Parioli Shadwell (Italian 2000 Guineas) over a mile on June 14; he has never been worse than second in five starts but has distance questions to answer as he races beyond a mile for the first time. Aurelius In Love (Ire) (Alhebayeb {Ire}) looks to build on a pair of black-type wins last year and a recent listed second over 2000 metres to Masterwin (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}). Baptism (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) lines up off a listed score going 2100 metres three weeks ago.

With purses significantly down in Britain, Andrew Balding and Mark Johnston are among the British-based trainers looking to take home a slice of the pie here. Johnston saddles King’s Caper (GB) (New Approach {Ire}), who won three times last year at two but he has been well-beaten in both outings in 2020; a fifth behind English King (Fr) (Camelot {GB}) in the Listed Derby Trial S. and a 12th in Royal Ascot’s King George V S. Balding sends out Papa Power (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}), twice a winner over the all-weather in February but last of six home in the G2 King Edward VII S. at Royal Ascot.
