Also, the Bourbonette Oaks from Turfway Park will be highlighted on Saturday's show.

Dornoch (Good Magic), winner of the 2023 GII Remsen S. and a full-brother to 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage, is the morning-line favorite in the Fountain of Youth, which awards 50 Kentucky Derby qualification points to the winner of the race.

The additional stakes races that will be presented live on CNBC and Peacock are the GIII Honey Fox S. and GIII Canadian Turf S. from Gulfstream Park.

Britney Eurton will host Saturday's coverage alongside analyst and Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey, analyst Randy Moss, and reporters Michelle Yu and Matt Bernier. Yu will report on-site from Santa Anita and Bernier will report on-site from Gulfstream.

“We have an amazing relationship with the folks here in Miami, but we're going to move it out West,” Stronach said. “Not the Pegasus, but a new race called the California Crown. We're going do something that's unique to California, something old school with a Hollywood vibe. It will be tremendous racing. It will be the richest day of racing in California. We're going to be bi-coastal. The Pegasus will remain here in Miami and continue to grow. We'll be doing something very similar but very 'California' at Santa Anita Sept. 28 this year.”

The Associated Press reported that the California Crown would replace the GI Awesome Again S., a race for 3-year-olds and up. The AP reported that the California Crown will be for 3-year-olds.

“(Santa Anita) doesn't have a marquee, special-event date,” Stronach told The AP.

Few details were available at deadline for this story, including the intended purse or what would consist of the undercard.

1/ST Racing and Gaming President Aidan Butler told the Associated Press that the purse would depend on the division of revenue between northern and southern California this year after the closing of Golden Gate Fields in June.

“I was watching the NYRA show the day that Carson's Run made his first start at Saratoga, and Maggie Wolfendale interviewed Terry Finley in the winner's circle after he won, and they talked about the story behind the naming of the horse,” said Susan Finley, Thoroughbred Daily News Publisher. “Bill Finley contacted Terry and wrote a story for that day's TDN, and when Carson's Run won the GI Summer S., Bill decided to invite Wade Jost onto the Writers' Room. Tim Layden, a writer-at-large for NBC Sports, won his fourth Media Eclipse Award for “Maple Leaf Mel and the Long Arc of a horse racing tragedy.” Layden related the story of Melanie Giddings, the trainer and cancer survivor of undefeated 3-year-old filly Maple Leaf Mel–named after Giddings–who suffered a fatal injury while leading the GI Test S. at Saratoga Aug. 5.

Writing- News/Enterprise – Sean Clancy, The Saratoga Special – “The Worst Test,” Aug. 6, 2023

Sean Clancy was not originally assigned to cover the Test S. at Saratoga on Aug. 5, but sprang into action and wrote a news account of the race of the tragic consequences of the fatal accident to Maple Leaf Mel and the reactions of individuals surrounding the event.

Clancy is the co-editor and publisher of The Saratoga Special along with his brother, Joe, which they co-founded in 2001. This is the second Eclipse Award for Clancy.

Their Royal Ascot coverage begins at 8:30 a.m. daily from Tuesday, June 20, through Friday, June 23 on Peacock. On Saturday, June 24, both NBC and Peacock will cover the day's card beginning at 9 a.m., and at 1 p.m., Peacock will continue to broadcast the Royal meeting. Coverage airing on NBC will also stream live on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
