A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool wrapped up a memorable Pegasus World Cup weekend at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., where multiple tickets with all six winners of the popular multi-race wager were each worth $25,194.88.

The Rainbow 6 had gone unsolved for 12 racing days in a row, generating a carryover pool of $727,306 heading into Sunday's 11-race program. An additional $5,348,491 was wagered into the pool of the multi-race wager that spanned Races 6-11.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The popular multi-race wager has been building a jackpot for 12 racing days in a row, generating a carryover pool of $727,305.66 heading into Sunday's 11-race program. Sunday's pool is estimated to grow to $3 million or higher.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

Sunday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-11, kicked off by a five-furlong turf dash for $12,500 claiming fillies and mares. Queen Calypso and Filmore East, who will make their first starts for trainers with 30-percent strike rates with off-the-claim starters, are rated at 3-1 and 7-2, in the morning line.

A 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight race on turf for 3-year-old fillies follows in Race 6. Trainer Chad Brown is represented by two first-time starters in the full field – Public Service, a daughter of Hard Spun, and Ughrouda, a daughter of Curlin. Todd Pletcher-trained Beside Herself, a very wide third in her Gulfstream debut, is rated as the 3-1 morning-line favorite.

Ever-steady Don't Get Khozy is rated at 9-5 in a seven-furlong optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares in Race 7, which is followed by a well-stocked 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight race for 3-year-olds on turf. Brown-trained Bandimere, a son of More Than Ready, and Pletcher-trained Celestial Glaze, a son of Frosted, are among the first-time starters.

Elizabeth Dobles' Cuy is slated to seek his third win in a row over Gulfstream's Tapeta course in Race 9, a 5 ½-furlong starter allowance. The sequence will be wrapped up by a mile optional claiming allowance on turf, featuring a full field of older horses, in Race 10, and a 1 1/16-mile race for $10,000 claimers on Tapeta in Race 11.

Jockeys Patrick Henry Jr. and Alex Anaya were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries on Tuesday night after the lights at Grants Pass Downs turned off shortly after the start of the 11th and final race of the closing night program at the Grants Pass, Ore., track.

The race was declared a “no contest” by officials.

The six horses were just starting to make their way down the backstretch for the first time in the 6 1/2-furlong claiming race on the Josephine County Fairgrounds oval when the lights went out.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

“The lights just went off,” track announcer Jason Beem said when the track went dark. “Somebody just turned the lights off. All the lights went off. I've got no clue what's going on and hopefully everybody is staying safe out there, because we can't see a thing. Unbelievable.”

Two horses, Lead Actress and Don't Rub It, could be seen without their riders passing under the wire in the light of the photo finish camera. Henry had been aboard Lead Actress with Anaya on Don't Rub It. Both were racing just behind the early leader along the inside when the lights went off.

According to Beem's Twitter feed, all horses were caught and not injured.

I'm told all horses are accounted for and back in the paddock. Jockey Patrick Henry is being attended to by medics on the track. That told to me by stewards. Absolutely terrifying situation. Race is a no contest for race 11.

— Jason Beem (@BeemieAwards) November 10, 2021

There was a lot at stake in the race for horseplayers, including a mandatory payout in the Pick 5 that included a $51,112 jackpot going in and took in over $300,000 in new money. The payoffs leading into the 11th race, the final leg of the sequence, were $3 in the seventh race, $38.60 in the eighth, $5.60 in the ninth, and $8.20 in the 10th. The Equibase chart did not show how the multi-race wagers were resolved, but track publicist Vince Bruun said the race was considered an “all” under Oregon racing rules, meaning every selection was credited with being a winner. The bet, which effectively became a pick 4, paid $357.75, according to Bruun.

How and why the lights went off isn't clear, but the speculation is they were set on a timer to go off at approximately 10:30 p.m. and were not adjusted after the switch from daylight savings to standard time on the morning of Nov. 7.

The nine-race program on Monday, Nov. 8, ended with the final event going at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday's finale was off at 10:28 p.m.

Randy Evers, general manager at Grants Pass Downs, could not be reached for comment or additional information.

A lucrative total Derby City 6 pool could await bettors Sunday for closing day of Churchill Downs' 12-day September Meet. There's a $67,967 jackpot carryover on Saturday (Races 6-11). The pool will be rewarding Sunday if there's not a single winning ticket Saturday.

The Derby City 6 jackpot pool only is paid if there is a single winning ticket. When multiple tickets contain six winners 90 percent of that day's pool is paid out and 10 percent is added to the jackpot carryover.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Because Sunday is closing day, there will be a mandatory Derby City 6 payout with all monies distributed to ticket holders with the most winners in the six-race series. Sunday's Derby City 6, which only costs 20 cents per combination, is scheduled to cover Races 6-11 starting at approximately 3:18 p.m. (all times Eastern).

Takeout on the Derby City 6 is just 15 percent, which is one of the lowest multi-race wager takeout rates in American racing.

Fans can wager on the Derby City 6 on track at Churchill Downs; www.TwinSpires.com, the track's official online wagering platform; other online wagering outlets; and select satellite betting centers throughout North America.

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 will highlight Saturday's 12-race Gulfstream Park program in Hallandale Beach, Fla., which will also feature the $75,000 Sheer Drama Stakes and the $60,000 North Bay Village Handicap.

The mandatory-payout pool of the popular multi-race wager is expected to grow over $2.5 million Saturday. Following Friday's program, the jackpot pool swelled to $588,559.89.

The Rainbow 6 has gone unsolved for 21 consecutive racing days since a July 31 mandatory payout. The Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners.

Ron Nicoletti's Rainbow 6 longshots:

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 7-12, headlined by the Sheer Drama in Race 11. The seven-furlong stakes for Florida-bred fillies and mares attracted a well-stocked field of eight sprinters, including multiple graded stakes-placed Sound Machine. The Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief is coming off a third-place finish in the $250,000 Princess Rooney (G2). Kathleen O'Connell-trained Thissmytime, who set the track record for seven-furlongs at Gulfstream Park West last fall, will seek to improve on a pair of subpar showings that followed a runner-up finish in the Jan. 23 Inside Information (G2) at Gulfstream. Multiple-stakes winners Heiressall and Starship Bonita are also entered.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

The Rainbow 6 sequence is kicked off by a mile maiden special weight race for fillies and mares on turf in Race 7. Tom Proctor-trained Free Data, who is working sharply at Palm Meadows after coming up short in the stretch lasthttps://youtu.be/ time out, is the lukewarm 3-1 morning-line favorite in what will likely be a popular 'spread' race with Rainbow 6 bettors.

Joe Orseno-trained Call Bros, a winner over slightly weaker rivals last time out, figures to receive solid support in Race 8, a 7 ½-furlong turf races for 3-year-olds and up in which there appear to be several upset possibilities. Race 9, a six-furlong maiden special weight race for Florida-bred juveniles, is headed by Juan Carlos Avila-trained Spuntacular, the 6-5 favorite who ran second and third in his first two career starts under less-than-ideal trips. Georgina Baxter-trained R Big G, a son of The Big Beast, Bob Hess Jr.-trained Birdnote, a son of Noble Bird, and Patrick Biancone-trained Mr Rum Runner, a son of Uncaptured, are interesting first-time starters with strong series of works.

Rohan Crichton-trained Captain Ron, a turf sprinter who won two of his last three starts, is rated as the 9-5 morning-line favorite in Race 10, an optional claiming allowance at five furlongs on turf. Trainer Steve Klesaris, who has a deft hand with turf sprinters will be represented by The Virginian. Carlos David-trained Discreet Tune looked sharp last time out while facing weaker.

The Sheer Drama will be followed by a 7 ½-furlong turf race for $20,000 claimers in Race 12 that should pose a challenge to Rainbow 6 bettors. Richard Silvestri-trained Catching Fish is the 3-1 morning-line favorite on the strength of beating better last time out. Uno Tiger is scheduled to make his turf debut for trainer Kathleen O'Connell. The son of Macho Uno is out of a mare who won both on dirt and turf.

A maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds at 7 ½ furlongs on turf will kick off Saturday's program. Trainer Mark Casse will unveil Michael Tabor's War Strategy, a son of War Front out of Coolmore, a Group 3 stakes-winning daughter of Galileo. Trainer Herman Wilensky and Harry Orgo's Harry's Onthebeach, a half-brother to stakes-winner Harry's Ontheloose, will make his second start after finishing a troubled second in his debut.

Tom Proctor-trained Summering will concede two and seven pounds to her rivals in the North Bay Village, a mile overnight handicap for fillies and mares on turf carded as Race 5. The multiple stakes-winning 5-year-old daughter of War Front, who will carry 124 pounds, will seek to rebound from an even fourth-place finish in the Ginger Punch.

In Del Mar racetrack's Rainbow Pick Single Ticket Jackpot wager, for the 18th straight time a single bettor couldn't tab all six winners on his or her own meaning there will be yet another carryover into Saturday's TVG Pacific Classic Day card where a “mandatory” payout awaits at the seaside track north of San Diego, Calif.

Friday's carryover amount of $1,874,996 will be in the pool to start the day Saturday and it and all the “new” money that comes in on the bet will go out to those who have the most winners, guaranteed.

Some projections put the likely “new” money amount in the $6-million to $10-million range. If so, it will virtually ensure that the track will best its non-Breeders' Cup single-day betting record of $25,870,431 set on August 18, 2018, a TVG Pacific Classic Day.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Racing for the big TVG Pacific Classic Day card begins at 2 p.m. Saturday. Eleven races will be on tap with the Pick Six wager beginning on Race 6, which is scheduled to go off at approximately 4:30 p.m.

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool is scheduled for Saturday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., where the $100,000 Desert Vixen and $100,000 Dr. Fager will kick off the 2021 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series.

The popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for 13 consecutive racing days since a June 30 mandatory payout. Rainbow 6 wagering will start Saturday with a carryover jackpot pool of $500,634.97.

Saturday's pool is expected to reach approximately $3 million.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 8-13, including the Desert Vixen, a six-furlong sprint for juvenile fillies, in Race 10, and the Dr. Fager, a six-furlong open division for 2-year-olds, in Race 12.

In the Desert Vixen, Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Noble Dreamer, an impressive 7 ½-length winner in her second career start, will seek to even the score with Demurely, who defeated her in her debut.

Joe Orseno-trained Hope in Him, a dominating five-length winner in his debut, is rated as the 8-5 morning-line favorite in the Dr. Fager. Jeff Engler-trained Lightening Larry, who finished second behind Hope In Him in his debut, will try the favorite again Saturday after scoring by two-lengths in his second career start.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will kick off with a mile event for $6250 claimers in Race 8, in which the ultra-consistent Gilberto Zerpa-trained Candy Crushem is narrowly favorite in the morning line over tough-as-nails Green Mansions, who returned to winning form last time out against similar company.

A wide-open $25,000 claiming race at 1 1/16 miles on turf, which will likely be a popular 'spread' race in Rainbow 6 betting, follows in Race 9. The Desert Vixen will be followed by an optional claiming allowance at 7 ½ furlongs on turf in Race 11 that should prove challenging to Rainbow 6 bettors. Plenum, who is rated as the 2-1 morning-line favorite, will seek his seventh-straight in-the-money finish since joining trainer Oscar Gonzalez's barn.

The Dr. Fager will be followed by the $60,000 Harbor Islands overnight handicap, a highly competitive five-furlong turf dash for fillies and mares that will anchor the Rainbow 6 sequence. Steven Dwoskin-trained Choose Joy is rated as the 2-1 morning-line favorite on the strength of a victory in the Golden Beach and a narrow loss in the Biscayne Landing in her last two starts. Amador Sanchez-trained Lagertha, who won the Biscayne Landing after finishing second behind Choose Joy in the Golden Beach, is rated second at 5-2 in the morning line.

Mandatory payouts in the Golden Pick Six jackpot wager, the Rolling Super High Five and Pick 5 bets highlight the wagering menu this Sunday, August 1 at Golden Gate Fields. First post on the 9-race program is 1:45 PM PT.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

The Golden Pick Six, a 20-cent minimum bet, goes as Races 4 through 9 on the Sunday program. Among the races in the sequence: a 2-year-old maiden special weight, an allowance for colts and geldings, and a pair of turf routes. Heading into the Golden Pick Six wager on Friday, there is a small carryover of $2,270. If there is not a single ticket “jackpot” winner on Friday and or Saturday, the carryover will increase by Sunday.

The Rolling Super High Five is offered in any race in which there are seven or more starters. For horseplayers to hit this $1 minimum bet, they must correctly tab the first five finishers in a race. The mandatory payout for this wager comes in the last race in which the 'High Five is offered.

The Early Pick 5 (Races 1-5), popular amongst horseplayers nationwide, is a low 14% takeout bet every day. The Late Pick 5 (Races 5-9), like the early wager, is a 50-cent minimum bet.
