Win Approval, a Live Oak Stud foundation mare and the 2017 Broodmare of the Year, was euthanized July 19 due to the infirmities of old age, the farm announced today. She was 29 years old.

By Canadian Horse of the Year With Approval out of the graded stakes-placed and stakes-producing Hoist the Flag mare Negotiator, Win Approval left an indelible mark on the industry as a producer of champions.

The Live Oak homebred, honored as the 2017 Broodmare of the Year by the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA), is the dam of eight winners from 10 foals, including a pair of champions—World Approval, 2017's Champion Turf Male, and Miesque's Approval, Champion Grass Horse in 2006—and four graded stakes winners. In addition to her national honor, Win Approval was also named the Florida Broodmare of the Year by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association (FTBOA) in 2006, 2016, and 2017. All told, her runners amassed earnings of $8,936,808.

“She will be missed, but never forgotten,” said Charlotte Weber.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Florida-bred World Approval, a son of Northern Afleet born in 2012, was Win Approval's final foal. The gray or roan gelding did his mother proud, annexing five stakes races for trainer Mark Casse in his championship season, including the 2017 Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) at Del Mar. He also rattled off victories in that year's Turf Classic Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, the Dixie Stakes (G2) at Pimlico, the Fourstardave Handicap (G1) at Saratoga, as well as the Woodbine Mile Stakes (G1) at Woodbine en route to career earnings of $3,052,613.

In addition to his national championship, World Approval was also named the 2017 Florida-bred Horse of the Year by the FTBOA, as well as champion older male, turf horse, and male sprinter that season. In 2016, he was the Florida-bred champion older male and turf horse.

Miesque's Approval, by Miesque's Son, won 12 of 40 career starts, including the 2006 Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) at Churchill Downs. In his championship year of 2006, the Sunshine State product also captured the Firecracker Breeders' Cup Handicap (G2) at Churchill Downs, the Maker's Mark Mile Stakes (G2) at Keeneland, the Red Bank Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park, and the Sunshine Millions Turf Stakes at Gulfstream Park. In winning the Red Bank at Monmouth, Miseque's Approval set a new course record for eight furlongs, getting the distance in 1:33.36 for trainer Martin Wolfson. All told, Miesque's Approval banked $2,648,879 in an outstanding career.

Win Approval's additional graded stakes winners also shared an affinity for the turf. Revved Up, a 1998 Florida-bred son of Sultry Song, banked $1,548,653. Conditioned by Christophe Clement, the gray gelding won the 2005 Niagara Breeders' Cup Handicap (G2) at Woodbine, as well as the 2005 Stars and Stripes Breeders' Cup Turf Handicap (G3) at Arlington Park, and the 2006 Sycamore Breeders' Cup Stakes (G3) at Keeneland. In taking down top prize in the 2003 Cape Henlopen Stakes at Delaware Park, Revved Up established a new course record for 1 ½ miles, stopping the clock in 2:26.46.

Kentucky-bred Za Approval, a 2008 son of Ghostzapper also trained by Casse, enjoyed his best season in 2013, taking that year's Knickerbocker Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park, the Red Bank Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park, and the Appleton Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park on his way to career earnings of more than $1.3 million. Not to be outdone by his successful siblings, Za Approval also set a new course record, running one mile on the turf at Keeneland in 1:35.89 in dominating an allowance field in 2015.

Win Win Win, the impressive winner of the Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga in his last start, will stand the 2021 breeding season at Ocala Stud.

The Live Oak Stud homebred will stand as the property of a partnership between Live Oak Stud, Airdrie Stud, and Ocala Stud, and his fee has been set at $5,000 S&N.

“We are very excited to add Win Win Win to our roster,” said Ocala Stud's David O'Farrell. “He's a big, grand-looking horse with a lot of presence. His record-setting speed, versatility, and classic bloodline which consists of three Kentucky Derby winners give Win Win Win a great opportunity to become a top sire.”

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Trained by Michael Trombetta, Win Win Win lived up to his name on the racetrack. He captured five of his 12 starts and placed in four others en route to earnings of $601,600. Win Win Win concluded his accomplished racing career on a high note, finishing with a flourish to take down top prize in the G1 Forego. In showcasing his impressive turn of foot, he won the seven-furlong event in 1:21.71, defeating four Grade 1 winners, including Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile favorite Complexity.

Last season at three, Win Win Win set a new track record at Tampa Bay Downs in winning the Pasco Stakes, an early prep for the G2 Tampa Bay Derby in his sophomore bow. He drew off powerfully in the seven-furlong test, speeding to a 7 1/4-length score in the stakes and track-record time of 1:20.89, earning a 2 on the Ragozin Sheets.

Demonstrating his versatility, Win Win Win also took down the Manila Stakes at one mile on turf at Belmont Park, polishing off the distance in 1:31.56, just one-fifth of a second off the course record set by Oscar Performance. Prior to that impressive score, Win Win Win finished second to multiple Grade 1 winner Vekoma in the G2 Blue Grass Stakes.

A precocious juvenile, Win Win Win won two of his three starts as a 2-year-old, taking a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Laurel Park in his career debut before crushing allowance foes by 6 1/2 lengths in a lively 1:02.30 for 5 1/2 furlongs in his next start. He also finished second in the seven-furlong Heft Stakes at Laurel to close out his juvenile campaign.

“The combination of Win Win Win's tremendous talent and the opportunity he will receive at Ocala Stud is why we're so excited to partner on his stallion career,” said Airdrie Stud's Bret Jones. “No one will give this horse a better chance to succeed than Ocala Stud and we look forward to doing our part by supporting him heavily in each of his early years at stud. I know the Live Oak team has always believed he was a genuine star, and we are grateful to Mrs. [Charlotte] Weber for letting Airdrie play a role in his exciting future.”

Classically bred with record-setting speed, Win Win Win, by champion miler and Grade 1 winner Hat Trick (JPN), hails from a deep Live Oak family. A descendant of the Halo sire line—his grandsire is Sunday Silence—Win Win Win is out of a stout female family. His dam is the winning Smarty Jones mare Miss Smarty Pants, a half-sister to Graded stakes winner and multiple Graded stakes-placed Unbridled Humor produced from the stakes-winning and Graded stakes-placed Unbridled mare Devotion Unbridled.

Live Oak Plantation's homebred Win Win Win, impressive winner of the Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga in his most recent start, Aug. 29, has been retired from racing due to a tendon injury.

A versatile 4-year-old son of Grade 1 winner Hat Trick, Win Win Win was rounding into the best form of his career for trainer Michael Trombetta and was targeting a start in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Keeneland. Stud plans will be announced at a later date.

“I would like to thank Mike Trombetta and his staff and the Live Oak Stud crew for all the care they gave Win Win Win,” said Charlotte Weber. “He provided us a lot of thrills on the racetrack and I am looking forward to his future as a stallion.”

In a deep and contentious Forego, Win Win Win circled the field at least eight-wide around the turn and finished with a dramatic flourish, going from last to first in the seven-furlong event to win in 1:21.71, leaving in his wake four Grade 1 winners—Complexity, Whitmore, Mind Control, and Firenze Fire.

Last season at three in his sophomore bow, Win Win Win set a new track record at Tampa Bay Downs in winning the Pasco Stakes, an early prep for the G2 Tampa Bay Derby. He drew off with authority in the seven-furlong test, speeding to an eye-catching 7 1/4-length score in the stakes and track-record time of 1:20.89, smashing the previous record of 1:21.40 set by Catalina Red in the 2014 renewal of the Pasco.

Demonstrating his versatility, Win Win Win also annexed the Manila Stakes at one mile on turf at Belmont Park after finishing third in the Tampa Bay Derby and second in the G2 Blue Grass Stakes. In the latter, he picked up 40 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard, securing him a spot in the gate for the first Saturday in May. He ultimately finished ninth in the Derby and seventh in the Preakness Stakes before his win in the Manila.

Win Win Win won two of his three starts as a 2-year-old, taking a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Laurel in his career debut. He crushed allowance foes by 6 1/2 lengths at 5 1/2 furlongs in his next start and concluded his juvenile season with a second-place finish in the seven-furlong Heft Stakes at Laurel.

All told, Win Win Win lived up to his name, capturing five of his 12 starts, placing in four others, and earning $601,600 in his accomplished career. Win Win Win is the seventh Grade 1 winner to represent his sire and he is produced from the winning Smarty Jones mare Miss Smarty Pants, a half-sister to graded stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed Unbridled Humor.
