Classic winner and Group 1 sire Night Of Thunder (Ire) is one of seven European-based Darley stallions available on Southern Hemisphere time whose fees were revealed on Thursday.

Set to stand for €50,000 at Kildangan Stud in Ireland, the son of Dubawi (Ire) sired his first international Group 1 winner with Kukeracha (NZ) from his only Australasian-bred crop. Former shuttler Palace Pier (GB) leads the way at Dalham Hall Stud at £25,000; and roster veteran and fellow former shuttle stallion Iffraaj (GB), who has accounted for 11 Group 1 winners in the Southern Hemisphere, will stand for £10,000.

The septet and their fees are as follows:

Dalham Hall Stud:
Palace Pier (GB) – £25,000
Cracksman (GB) – £17,500
Masar (Ire) – £12,500
Iffraaj (GB) – £10,000

Kildangan Stud:
Night Of Thunder (Ire) – €50,000
Space Blues (Ire) – €15,000
Naval Crown (GB) – €10,000

Sam Bullard, Darley's Director of Stallions, said, “We are pleased to be able to offer Southern Hemisphere breeders a great range, from top international proven stallions to younger commercial options. Night Of Thunder is doing as phenomenally well in Australia as he is here, and Palace Pier's first Australian crop is so well-bred, it's a near certainty that his second crop will be in great demand at the sales. As ever, our stallions are available to view by appointment, and we very much welcome visitors during the July Sales.”

Boasting the best form heading into Saturday's G2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud, Sunderland Holdings' My Prospero (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) was there to be shot at on the front end but proved as game as he is talented to make his class tell under a no-nonsense ride from Tom Marquand.

Sent forward from his outside stall to take up the running after the first two furlongs, the William Haggas-trained 3-5 favourite who had been a battling third in Royal Ascot's G1 St James's Palace S. June 14 was soon in total control. Wound up over half a mile from home, the bay looked under threat as Vagalame (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) snuck up his inner inside the final two furlongs but that rival's effort proved short-lived and the homebred kept digging deep to score by half a length from Zagrey (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}), with Junko (GB) (Intello {Ger}) 3/4 of a length away in third.

My Prospero, who encountered Claymore (Fr) (New Bay {GB}) when third at Newmarket on debut in October, beat the subsequent Britannia H. winner Thesis (GB) (Kingman {GB}) when breaking his maiden at Newbury Apr. 16 before upstaging Reach For The Moon (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) in Sandown's Listed Heron S. May 19. His St James's Palace effort was his last at a mile and there is a chance he could even get further than this 10-furlong trip based on the way he ground this out.

There was an incident after the finish, where the winner dislodged Marquand after proving difficult to stop, but the duo appeared fine shortly after.

“Normally here you pull up straight but I hit the line that hard that I though 'uh-oh, I'm not going to pull up there,'” Marquand told Racing Post. “I went to go left–one other came with me–and just as he got to where the cones were he changed onto his right lead and tried to go off to the right.

“It wasn't his fault, it was just one of those unfortunate things. He looks fine–that's the main worry when something like that happens–and we'll certainly have better days to come.”

“I never really intended to make the running, I just wanted to be positive,” added Marquand. “It was his first go at a mile and a quarter and I thought he'd stay very well but he still showed babyish signs. He's a beautiful horse, he's still learning and he has a big future.”

Pedigree Notes

G3 Weld Park S. heroine My Titania is turning into a budding blue hen, with her third foal, My Prospero, her second group winner. Already one of three stakes winners-all placed at Group 1 level–for the daughter of listed winner Fairy Of The Night (Ire) (Danehill), the son of Iffraaj is joined by the stakes-winning filly My Astra (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), who was second in the G1 Pretty Polly S. and My Oberon (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), successful in the G3 Earl Of Sefton S. and third in the G1 Prix d'Ispahan. Her latest is the unraced juvenile My Asteria (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) and a weanling colt by Night Of Thunder (Ire).

A half-sister to three-time Group 2 victor and G1 King's Stand S. third Muthmir (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), My Titania counts the stakes-placed stakes-producer Aneedah (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) as another half-sibling. This is also the extended family of GIII Orchid S. heroine Dress Rehearsal (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), already the dam of two stakes winners to the cover of Invincible Spirit, as well as the stakes-placed Christophermarlowe by leading American sire Tapit.

Friday's Observations features a full-sister to Group 1 winner and young sire Too Darn Hot (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}).

Lord Lloyd Webber's untried DARMOISELLE (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) is a daughter of MG1SW distaffer Dar Re Mi (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) and thus a homebred full-sister to MG1SW sire Too Darn Hot (GB), MG1SP G2 Middleton S. victrix Lah Ti Dar (GB) and stakes-winning G1 Prix de l'Opera third So Mi Dar (GB). She is set to load alongside Qatar Racing's John and Thady Gosden-conditioned stablemate Emotion (GB) (Frankel {GB}), who is kin to dual Group 1-placed stayer Morgan Le Faye (GB) (Shamardal) out of G1 Prix du Cadran victrix Molly Malone (Fr) (Lomitas {GB}). Harry and Roger Charlton also multitask and send out Time Lock (GB) (Frankel {GB}), who is a granddaughter of G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Passage of Time (GB) (Dansili {GB}) produced by a full-sister to MG1SP sire Time Test (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}); and Merry Fox Stud's homebred Golden Sheen (GB) (Frankel {GB}), who is the first foal out of a full-sister to G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin victor Second Step (Ire) (Dalakhani {Ire}). Of those with prior experience, Sir Michael Stoute trainee Crystal Estrella (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}) is a contender of note coming back off a debut seventh at Newmarket in October. Her stakes-placed sibling Crystal Hope (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) backed up a debut seventh in the October of her juvenile campaign with a 'TDN Rising Star' performance in the 2018 edition of this on seasonal return. Crystal Estrella and Crystal Hope are out of a half-sister to ultra-consistent G1 Prince of Wales's S.-winning sire Crystal Ocean (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}). Other Newmarket nominees set to venture south include Chris Wright's homebred Tequilamockingbird (GB) (New Approach {Ire}), who is out of a half-sister to G1 Prix du Moulin-winning matriarch Grey Lilas (Ire) (Danehill), from the Charlie Fellowes stable; and Roger Varian incumbent Oblong Song (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}), who is a twice-raced half-sister to G1 Sun Chariot S. victrix Spinning Queen (GB) (Spinning World). With the aforementioned Emotion slated to sport the number one silks, Qatar Racing's second colours will be carried by the Ralph Beckett-trained New Year Honours (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}), who is out of a half-sister to G1 1000 Guineas demotee Jacqueline Quest (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}), herself the dam of three black-type performers headed by GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf hero Line of Duty (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).

In fourth and under pressure at halfway, the 16-5 chance refused to wilt at the business end and kept on relentlessly under a continued drive to deny Explicit (Ire) (Expert Eye {GB}) by 1 1/4 lengths inside the final 100 yards.

Her second dam is G3 Goldene Peitsche victrix Flower Girl (GB) (Pharly {Fr}). The February-foaled bay is kin to Listed Harry Rosebery S. third Umneyati (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}) and a yearling filly by Havana Gold (Ire).

The catalogues for the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up and Horses-in-Training Sale were released on Wednesday.
Graduates of the sale won group races in Britain, France, Germany and the U.S. in 2021, led by top-level winners Trueshan (Fr) (Planteur {Ire}) and Shantisara (Ire) (Coulsty {Ire}).
Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “The Guineas Breeze Up enjoyed yet another outstanding year on the racecourse led by the champion stayer Trueshan and USA Grade I winner Shantisara, both of whom illustrate the quality, diversity and value for money that buyers have come to expect from the sale. This year's Guineas Breeze Up has been very well-supported by consignors and we are confident the selection of 2-year-olds will appeal to domestic and international buyers in all sectors of the market, alongside the second largest horses in training section in the sale's history.”

Dubawi (Ire) (Dubai Millennium {GB}) will stand for an unchanged fee of £250,000 at Dalham Hall Stud and anchors the 2022 roster for Darley Europe. His fee is the most expensive in Europe.

He enjoyed a notable success at the two-day Breeders' Cup World Championships, with three winners in a single year, the first sire to reach that mark in the 37-year history of the Breeders' Cup. The GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf went to Modern Games (Ire), Saturday's GI Breeders' Cup Mile was won by new Kildangan Stud resident Space Blues (Ire) and Dubawi's trio was rounded out by the victory of Yibir (GB) in the GI Breeders' Cup Turf. In addition, Dubawi is the world's leading sire of group winners with 23 and stakes winners at 37.

A trio of new stallions will join the Darley Europe roster in 2022, with Palace Pier (GB) (Kingman {GB}) leading the way at £55,000 at Dalham Hall. One of the most brilliant milers seen in recent years with five Group 1 victories to his name, the son of Kingman won the G1 St. James's Palace S. at Royal Ascot in 2020 and later scored a victory in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois. Kept in training in 2021, he added another trio of top-flight races-the G1 Lockinge S. at Sandown, Royal Ascot's G1 Queen Anne S. and a second edition of the Marois. The ultra-consistent bay retires with nine wins in 11 starts and $2,408,980 in earnings, rounded out by a neck second in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. on QIPCO British Champions Day.

Making his debut at Kildangan Stud is Space Blues, fresh off his Breeders' Cup Mile win. Priced at €17,500, the son of Miss Lucifer (Fr) (Noverre) captured the G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest in 2020 and also added the G1 Prix de la Foret prior to his Mile tally. He retires with a mark of 19-11-3-1 and $2,585,725 in earnings.

Undefeated as a juvenile including in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, Victor Ludorum (GB) (Shamardal) progressed to take the G1 French 2000 Guineas at three. Out of Antiquities (GB) (Kaldounevees {Fr}), his fee will be €15,000 at Haras du Logis. He also took the G3 Prix Messidor as a 4-year-old and brings a mark of 14-5-0-5 and $864,838 to stud.

Dubawi's son Night of Thunder (Ire) sired a pair of Group 1 winners in 2021 and he will command €75,000, tops of the Kildangan Stud roster. Thundering Nights (Ire) won the GI Pretty Polly S., while Kukeracha (NZ) was in action Down Under in the G1 Queensland Derby. They are two of 12 2021 black-type winners for their sire, who also sired four other group winners this year, among them Suesa (Ire) and GIII Athenia S. winner Pocket Square (GB).

Standing at £45,000 in 2022 is Too Darn Hot (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) at Dalham Hall. Flawless in a juvenile campaign that culminated in a victory in the G1 Dewhurst S., the bay backed up that form with another pair of Group 1 wins as a 3-year-old in the G1 Prix Jean Prat and G1 Sussex S. The son of Dar Re Mi (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) was also Classic placed with a runner-up performance in the G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas.

Esteemed sprinter Blue Point (Ire) (Shamardal) will stand for €40,000 at Kildangan. A dual winner of the G1 King's Stand S., the bay also won the G1 Diamond Jubilee and G1 Al Quoz Sprint. Both Too Darn Hot and Blue Point will have their first yearlings in 2022.

Three-time Group 1 winner Pinatubo (Ire) (Shamardal) is expecting is first foals in 2022, and will stand for £35,000 at Dalham Hall. Also welcoming their first progeny in 2022 are the Kildangan duo of Ghaiyyath (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) at €25,000, a four-time top-level hero, and Earthlight (Ire) (Shamardal) at €18,000. The latter landed a pair of juvenile Group 1s in 2019-the Prix Morny and the Middle Park S.

Two stallions that celebrated black-type success with their first runners this season were Profitable (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and Ribchester (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}). The Kildangan residents will each stand for €12,500. The only stallion to receive a fee increase across the entire roster, Profitable sired 25 winners this year so far, and already has a group winner with G2 Queen Mary S. victress Quick Suzy (Ire). Ribchester has Listed Doncaster S. winner Flaming Rib (Ire) to date.

Dalham stalwarts and Group 1 sires New Approach (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Iffraaj (GB) (Zafonic) are listed as private and £17,500, respectively. In Ireland, fellow Group 1 sire Teofilo (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will command €30,000. See below for the full 2022 Darley Europe roster.

Sam Bullard, Director of Stallions, said, “We are thrilled to be introducing three outstanding multiple Group 1 winners to a very strong roster, deep on quality and achievement. Following last year's three champion additions in Ghaiyyath, Earthlight and Pinatubo together with Blue Point and Too Darn Hot in 2020, we are confident of giving breeders every chance of benefitting from the wonderfully positive sales season we have just enjoyed.”
