Friday's 11-race card, featuring the GIII Noble Damsel and Ashley T. Cole, was canceled with more than five inches of rain expected and Ozone Park under a flash flood warning and flood watch on Friday. Heavy rainfall will continue throughout Friday and into Saturday.

Saturday's card, headlined by the GI Joe Hirsch Turf Classic, will move in its entirety to Sunday with a first post time of 12:05 p.m. Eastern. The stacked 11-race program also features the GII Woodward S., the GII Gallant Bloom S. and the GII Vosburgh S., a “Win and You're In” for the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint.

The 10-race card originally scheduled for Sunday will move in its entirety to Wednesday with a first post time of 1:05 p.m. Wednesday's action is co-headlined by a pair of Grade II “Win and You're In” qualifiers for juveniles at 1 1/16 miles on turf. The Pilgrim S. awards a berth to the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf while the Miss Grillo S. for fillies awards a berth to the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

The all-turf Monmouth-at-Meadowlands cards for Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30 have also been canceled due to the inclement weather.

Bensalem, Pennsylvania, where Parx is located was under a severe thunderstorm watch Monday along with most of the I-95 corridor and a funnel cloud was observed near Washington, D.C. The storms came with winds of up to 60 miles per hours, and delayed flights at major airports from Philadelphia to New York City. The National Weather Service issued reports of flooded highways with people stuck in cars in Pennsylvania, along with downed trees in Maryland.

Parx has carded 12 races for Wednesday, with first post at 12:40 p.m.

The area has been subject to heavy rainfall, with more in the forecast, which resulted in Lingfield officials and the BHA moving the races off the turf course. Carded that day are the G3 Chartwell Fillies' S. and the Listed Oaks Trial Fillies' S., as well as the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial. The latter pair will be contested over 1 1/2 miles, instead of a half-furlong short of the Classic distance because of the surface switch.

A statement from the BHA said, “The British Horseracing Authority has confirmed that Saturday's card at Lingfield Park will be staged on the all-weather.

“A BHA inspection of the course on Wednesday morning found the turf track to be unraceable due to waterlogging.

“It is considered unlikely that conditions will have improved sufficiently by Saturday to allow any races to take place on the turf safely.

“Therefore, also taking into account the weather forecast suggesting further rain, the BHA has made the decision to switch the surface at this time to offer certainty for connections to confirm their running plans.”

Santa Anita will remain open as planned for live racing this Sunday, Jan. 15, highlighted by the redrawn GIII La Canada S., which was transferred from Saturday.

Daily Racing Form reported that no turf races will be run Sunday, nor were there races carded for the turf on Monday, resulting in a shortage of entries for the remaining dirt races.

According to tweets from the National Weather Service Los Angeles account, the total expected rainfall Friday night into Saturday in nearby Pasadena was predicted at 1.42″, with slightly less amounts farther to the south in the downtown area. An additional one-half to one inch of precipitation was forecast for the second weather system Sunday into Tuesday, with wind gusts of up to 45 mph.

With sunnier skies predicted for next week, Santa Anita plans to run Saturday and Sunday in addition to the make-up card on Friday.

Sophie Candy, Clerk of the Course at Windsor Racecourse said, “Following racing on Monday evening on soft, heavy in places we have had another 21mm rain overnight at Windsor and the track is now unraceable. Having raced recently on a combination of soft to heavy ground, current conditions, and the forecast for the week ahead, the decision has been made to move next week's fixture to allow the track further recovery time. We would like to thank BHA and the NTF for their support in facilitating this move which has been done in the interests of all participants.”

Jockeys Ryan Moore, Frankie Dettori and Oisin Murphy were among those consulted on the conditions underfoot, along with trainers Ralph Beckett, Richard Hannon and Aidan O'Brien, who walked the track with a delegation of officials including Clerk of the Course Chris Stickells.

Clerk of the Course Chris Stickells issued an update from the track shortly after 10am.

He said, “We've had a wet night and we've had 19mm of rain since racing yesterday. The going is now soft and we have further spells of rain due this morning.”

The change in going means that Primo Bacio (Ire) (Awtaad {Ire}) is now a non-runner in the G1 Coronation S., while there are currently five non-runners in the G1 Commonwealth Cup, including Supremacy (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}).

Freezing and icy conditions in the Northern Kentucky area caused Turfway Park in Florence, Ky. to cancel races on Feb. 11 and 12, according to the track's website.

Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ak. also cancelled weekend racing in anticipation of poor weather, from Feb. 13-15.
