The mile turf stakes for older Florida-bred fillies and mares will co-headline Saturday's program with the $75,000 Sunshine Turf, a 1 1/8-mile turf stakes for older Florida-bred horses carded as Race 4.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Todd Pletcher-trained Shamrocket, who captured the Sunshine Classic last weekend in his dirt debut, is rated as the 7-5 morning-line favorite in his return to turf in the Sunshine Turf.

Irad Ortiz Jr., who has been sidelined by a knee injury, is scheduled to return to action Saturday with to riding engagements. The two-time defending Championship Meet titlist is named to ride Max K.O. in the Sunshine Turf in Race 4 and Ideal Breeze in Race 5.

Emisael Jaramillo notched back-to-back wins aboard Big Daddy Dave ($3.20) in Race 8 and Fish Mooney ($15) in Race 9.

In addition to 13 races worth in excess of $2 million in purses, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races will also be offering a series of quality wagering opportunities for horseplayers on its Charles Town Classic card coming up on Friday, Aug. 27.

Both the late, all-stakes Pick 4 and Pick 5 on the Charles Town Classic card will come with $100,000 guarantees, where the track will supplement the difference in either pool if less than $100,000 is wagered. The Pick 4, which covers the final four races on the Classic card, and the Pick 5 covering the final five paid out $380.00 and $1,466.15 respectively for a 50-cent bet on the 2020 Classic card, despite 50-cent win parlays for each sequence returning less than half those amounts.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

In addition to the multiple guaranteed pools, Charles Town has also scheduled a mandatory payout of the Charles Town 6-12 carryover which currently stands at $21,243 with 4 cards remaining prior to its distribution. The Charles Town 6-12 is a jackpot style Pick 6 covering the final six races on each Charles Town card and carries a low 12-percent takeout.

Due to the low takeout and size of the carryover, the mandatory payouts of the Charles Town 6-12 have typically resulted in a players' advantage of in upwards of 13% paid out on top of the gross pool on the night of the distribution.

The first race on Charles Town Classic day is slated for 5:00 P.M EST, with the $800,000 Charles Town Classic carrying a tentative post time of 10:18 P.M.

Reeves Thoroughbred Racing's Double Crown rallied from last to edge heavily favored Chance It in Sunday's feature race at Gulfstream Park, setting up a likely rematch in the $200,000 Smile Sprint (G3) on the July 3 Summit of Speed program.

Double Crown, who finished third in last year's Smile Sprint, had been idle since finishing second in the Chick Lang (G3) at Pimlico Oct. 1. Shooting Star Thoroughbreds LLC's Chance It, the hero of the 2019 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series and winner of the 2020 Mucho Macho Man at Gulfstream, had been out of action since finishing fifth in the Tampa Bay Derby (G2) March 7, 2020.

Both horses were clearly ready for their long-awaited returns to action.

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Trained by Kathy Ritvo, Double Crown ran six furlongs in 1:10.10 while prevailing over a very game Chance it by three-quarters of length.

“Kathy's done a fabulous job. Her staff, they always have these horses look good,” said Dean Reeves, who operates Reeves Thoroughbred Racing with his wife, Patti. “Kathy gets them ready for certain spots and you know when they go in there, they're going to run good. He was off a little while. We gave him time to grow a little, and now we're ready to go. It's hard sometimes as an owner to be that patient, but Kathy makes me be patient.”

Double Crown was also the recipient of a patient ride by Luca Panici, who notched his first victory since recently returning to the saddle following a three-month recovery and rehabilitation of a back injury sustained in a February accident.

“Luca rode a great race. He was patient and they finished up great,” Ritvo said. “Luca said the horse has a great mind.”

Double Crown dropped to the back of the five-horse field as Inter Miami outsprinted Chance It to grab the lead along the backstretch and went on to set fractions of 22.64 and 45.64 seconds for the first half-mile of the six-furlong optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up. The Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Chance It advanced on the leader between horses on the turn into the homestretch and took the lead at the top of the stretch as Double Crown launched a four-wide drive that would carry him to his fourth victory in seven career starts. Chance It, the even-money favorite ridden by Edgard Zayas, finished 3 ½ lengths clear of Inter Miami.

Double Crown's victory was his fourth in seven career starts. The 4-year-old gelded son of Bourbon Courage won back-to-back stakes at Gulfstream last year before his graded-stakes placings in the Smile and Chick Lang.

Dean and Patti Reeves and Ritvo campaigned Mucho Macho Man, the 2013 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool will be guaranteed at $400,000 when live racing resumes Friday at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the fifth consecutive racing day Sunday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $8,382.04.

The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $41,456.72 heading into Friday's program.

Friday's card kicks off a four-day Memorial Day Weekend at Gulfstream that will offer three stakes – Saturday's $75,000 Musical Romance, a 6 ½-furlong sprint for fillies and mares; Sunday's $60,000 Biscayne Bay, a five-furlong overnight handicap on turf for fillies and mares; and Monday's $75,000 Soldier's Dancer, a 1 1/16-mile stakes for 3-year-olds and up on turf.

First race post is 12:50 p.m.

There could be two key races in the Rainbow 6, both maiden claiming events.

The third leg of the Rainbow 6 is a $50,000 maiden claiming race for fillies and mares at five furlongs on the turf. The race drew a field of seven led by a tepid 3-1 morning-line favorite in Shea On a Mission, a Carlos David-trained daughter of Mission Impazible making her career debut. Bettabe Swift draws the rail after finishing second in her career debut at the same distance and surface for trainer Kathleen O'Connell. Uncaptured Heart will try the turf for the first time for trainer Ralph Nicks.

The eighth race, the final leg of the sequence, will also be a five-furlong turf event for 3-year-olds and up. Unlonely is a 7-5 favorite off a pair of second-place finishes for trainer Joseph Saffie Jr. Nketiah drops from maiden special weight company after a fifth-place finish in his debut on the dirt at Tampa. Gilberto Zerpa is the trainer.

The Rainbow 6 is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Eight stakes races, led by the $250,000 Grade 3 San Francisco Mile, highlight the second annual Gold Rush Weekend this Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, at Golden Gate Fields. Both race cards have a first post of 12:45 PM PT.

A lengthy list of Southern California trainers sends horses to compete in stakes races throughout the weekend. Those names include Jeff Bonde, Val Brinkerhoff, Simon Callaghan, Neil Drysdale, Paddy Gallagher, Andrew Lerner, Richard Mandella, Michael McCarthy, Doug O'Neill, Peter Miller, Leonard Powell, and John Sadler. Jockeys who travel from Santa Anita to ride: Tyler Baze, Geovanni Franco, Ricky Gonzalez, and Edwin Maldonado.

“We're showcasing the deep and talented group of both horses and riders that play their trade in Northern California year-round, as well as a very strong contingent shipping up from Southern California,” said Vice President of Racing and Racing Secretary Patrick Mackey. “We appreciate and thank the connections for their support at the entry box. Our stakes coordinator Lisa Jones and the entire racing office put together great cards. Gold Rush Weekend will give horseplayers a bevy of wagering opportunities while showcasing our two tremendous racing surfaces.”

<ins data-revive-zoneid=23 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

<ins data-revive-zoneid=177 data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

The main event of the weekend, the one-mile, $250,000 Grade 3 San Francisco Mile on turf for 3-year-olds and upward, runs as Race 9 this Saturday. Eight horses entered, including Grade 1 winners Ohio and Keeper Ofthe Stars, Grade 2 placed Whisper Not, 2020 All American Stakes winner Restrainedvengence, and Border Town, who ran third behind Grade 1 winner Hit the Road in February. Kiwi's Dream, who finished as the runner up in the San Francisco Mile last year, makes his second start off the year in the 2021 edition, and Brown Storm is one of six entrants on the Saturday program for Southern California conditioner Michael McCarthy. Likely pacesetter Diamond Blitz rounds out the group.

The San Francisco Mile is also the first leg of the Late Pick 4 sequence. The Late Pick 4, a 50-cent minimum wager featuring the last four races on each day's racecard, will have a guaranteed pool of $200,000 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday's stakes action kicks off with Race 7, the Golden Poppy for filly and mare turf routers. 2020 Grade I Del Mar Oaks winner Red Lark searches for her first winners circle appearance since the aforementioned victory last summer. The most appealing local contenders, stake winners Northwest Factor and Sloane Garden, finished behind Keeper ofthe Stars on April 3 and return to stakes company.

Race 8, the $100,000 California Derby, is for 3-year-olds at one mile and a sixteenth on Tapeta. The headliner in the field of eight is Parnelli, exiting the Grade I Santa Anita Derby. On the local front, maiden winners Jimmy Irish and Tesoro have always been well regarded and face stakes competition, while California-bred Stalking Shadow goes against open company after scoring a victory in a local prep for the California Derby.

The $75,000 California Oaks, which goes as Race 10, drew a large field of eleven 3-year-old fillies. Irish import Styledome has won three consecutive races over an all-weather surface overseas and makes her United States debut for trainer Paddy Gallagher. Pizzazz ships north for Hall of Famer Richard Mandella and figures as a legit contender, too, and impressive maiden victors Ida Claire and Miss Peaky Blinder try winners for the first time.

The penultimate race on Saturday, the $75,000 Camilla Urso for filly and mare turf sprinters, was flooded with entries. Local contender Dynasty of Her Own has beaten the best female sprinters in Northern California and will surely get a class test from the Southern California invaders. Among them: Grade 2 placed Bohemian Bourbon and multiple allowance winner Storming Lady.

Saturday's racing action ends with Race 12, the $75,000 Lost in the Fog Stakes for main-track sprinters. Local contender Baja Sur seeks his third career Golden Gate Fields stakes win. Bettor Trip Nick, a multiple stakes winner himself, beat Baja Sur in an April 2 Golden Gate allowance and is also slated to run in the Saturday nightcap.

On Sunday's 11-race card, the co-featured Silky Sullivan and Campanile Stakes shine light on California-bred or sired 3-year-olds. Both races, run at one mile on turf, have a $75,000 purse. The Silky Sullivan is for colts and geldings and the Campanile is for fillies. Entries for the Sunday program will be drawn on Thursday afternoon.

Currently, Golden Gate Fields offers fans the chance to watch races on-site at a limited capacity. Those who wish to attend Gold Rush Weekend, or any live race day, can visit Goldengatefields.com and purchase tickets through the website. General Admission and walk-ups are not permitted at this time.

(Race 1 post time is set for 11:30 a.m.)

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved Friday for the fourth straight racing day since a lucky bettor broke the jackpot for $712,824.06 Saturday. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $1,688.00 Friday.

The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 9-14 and will be kicked off by the $200,000 WinStar Gulfstream Park Mile (G2) and completed by the Fountain of Youth, the key prep for the $750,000 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) presented by Hill 'n Dale at Xalapa.

Shug McGaughey-trained Performer, who captured the Jan. 23 Fred W. Hooper (G3) at Gulfstream, is the 2-1 morning-line favorite in a field of eight older horses in the Gulfstream Park Mile. Danny Gargan-trained Tax, who finished off-the-board in the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) after winning the Harlan's Holiday (G3) impressively, is rated second at 5-2. Steve Budhoo-trained Eye of a Jedi, who finished a neck behind Performer in the Hooper, will return in the Gulfstream Mile.

A 1 1/16-mile optional claiming allowance for older horses on turf, which will be designated as a 'spread' race by many bettors, follows in Race 10.

Mark Casse-trained Got Stormy, the popular multiple Grade 1 stakes-winning mare, will make her 2021 debut in the $125,000 Honey Fox (G3) in Race 11. Brendan Walsh-trained Zofelle, who captured the Jan. 23 Marshua's River (G3) at Gulfstream, will also get considerable support from bettors.

Champion Vequist will be widely viewed as a 'single' by many Rainbow 6 bettors when she makes her 2021 debut in the $200,000 Davona Dale (G2) in Race 12. The Butch Reid-trained daughter of Nyquist captured the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Keeneland Nov. 6.

The $125,000 The Very One (G3) in Race 13 will be contested by a very balanced field of older fillies and mares that may well prove to be the most testing leg of the sequence for bettors.

Greatest Honour, a 5 ¾-length winner of the Jan. 30 Holy Bull (G3), is rated as the 8-5 morning-line favorite in the Fountain of Youth, which also attracted Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner Fire At Will, Holy Bull runner-up Tarantino and Swale (G3) winner Drain the Clock in a deep field of 10.

WHO'S HOT: Jose Ortiz ride a pair of winners, scoring aboard Ray Arewethereyet ($4.40) in Race 1 and Thorover ($3) in Race 5.
