Stakes-siring stallion Editorial (War Front–Playa Maya, by Arch), a half-brother to successful sire and champion Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie), will move to Rancho San Miguel in California to stand for $3,500 live foal guaranteed next year. He most recently stood at Anchor & Hope Farm in Maryland. His oldest foals are 3-year-olds.

“If I were to compare the U.S. stallion market to the U.S. stock market, I would say we are acquiring an emerging stock at the optimal time for California breeders,” said Rancho San Miguel owner Tom Clark. “Editorial has come out firing with quality in his first batch of runners, and has already shown that he can significantly improve his mares.

“His rare combination of sire power in War Front and Uncle Mo is sure to appeal to our state's breeders, who enjoy racing on a variety of surfaces and at a variety of distances.”

Bred by the Playa Maya Syndicate, the 8-year-old developed into a maiden winner at Gulfstream for the Coolmore partners and Todd Pletcher. Retired to stud in Maryland in 2018, the full-brother to G1 Irish 1000 Guineas runner-up Could It Be Love (War Front)'s progeny are led by two-time stakes winner Alottahope, as well as the stakes-placed My Thoughts.

Clark added, “Climax Stallions is retaining an ownership stake in Editorial, so he will be well-supported with top mares, including from our farm, as we take the baton and navigate him through the important next phase of his stallion career.”

Editorial, a half-brother to top sire Uncle Mo, has returned to Anchor and Hope Farm in Port Deposit Maryland for the 2021 breeding season after the COVID-19 pandemic kept him in Peru longer than expected, BloodHorse reports.

The 7-year-old son of War Front shipped to Haras San Pablo in the summer of 2019 for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season, and he was scheduled to return to Maryland to stand what would have been his third season in 2020. However, logistical hangups with quarantine stalled his return in January of last year. Then, once those hoops were cleared, the initial global shutdown at the onset of COVID-19 crippled the cargo shipment industry and created a shortage of available cargo planes, leading to the decision to keep the horse in Peru for the year.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Editorial cleared quarantine for the upcoming breeding season in January. His first foals are 2-year-olds of 2021.

Editorial won one of two starts during his on-track career, finishing second by a head on debut, then charging on the outside in his second start to prevail by a neck. Both races came over the turf at Gulfstream Park for the Coolmore partnership and trainer Todd Pletcher.

The stallion will stand for an advertised fee of $2,500 during the upcoming breeding season, with a “Ship and Win” incentive of $500 for the owners of mares who make their first visit to editorial in 2021.

Topping the roster this year is stallion, St Patrick's Day, who will stand again for $5,000 LFSN at Journeyman Stallions in Ocala, Fla. St Patrick's Day, the full brother to the brilliant, American Pharoah, concluded the 2020 breeding season with 116 mares bred.

Next on the Climax Stallions roster is Curlin to Mischief, California's co-leading second crop sire by winners, blacktype winners and blacktype horses. Leading his progeny is top juvenile stakes winner, Good with People. Despite his recent success, Curlin to Mischief's 2021 fee will remain at $3,500 LFSN standing at Rancho San Miguel in San Miguel, Calif.

Concluding the list is Editorial, who will stand the 2021 season for $2,500 LFSN at a new location, Freedom Hills Farm in Taneytown, Md. Uncle Mo has quickly become a sire of sires which looks to brighten the future for his half-brother, Editorial. Editorial will be finishing up his shuttling duties in Peru, where he bred a nice book of mares, and head back to the U.S. for 2021 and beyond.
